We went there for our 30th wedding anniversary with friends. The food was really good and a nice inexpensive menu. The conservatory is a really nice place to eat. My one problem would have been with the service, while it wasn't that bad. When we went in we were give menus and then no-one came back so we had to look for someone. Then we had to ask for wine (first thing waiting staff should ask is for drinks order) When the waiter brought the wine he put it in the bucket and walked off. Are the waiting staff not trained to pour your wine to taste? I would like to commend our waiter (cannot remember his name), he was very nice and efficient. I definitely would go back as the food is really good and they just need to get a system going with taking orders and pouring wine.

Pielow's Restaurant
4 Village Centre, South Dublin, Cabinteely, Dublin

We went for the first time on a persons recommendation. We could only get a table downstairs and as we hadn't been before I didn't know what that meant. We were in a tiny little room with three other tables which was fine but I was cold. the front door was open and I asked the foreign waitress could she close it and she wasn't that keen but to be fair the lovely waiter that served us could see I was cold and shut it completely but at that stage the cold had got into my bones. The starters were lovely I had asparagus and brie and my husband had lobster which was very nicely presented. They told us the specials but omitted to tell us the price. I ordered grouse for a change and it was too strong for me and the smell was very strong and my husband had pork belly which was nice. Nice desserts. When the bill came I nearly died of shock as the grouse was €32. If I had known it was that price I would have picked one of the other nice dishes that were on the menu. It definitely wasn't worth €32. This restaurant was nice but I don't think I'll be back.

The Chester Beatty Inn
Ashford, Ashford, Wicklow

Just had a beautiful meal here this evening on our way back from a weekend away. We decided to pop in to Chesters as it has recently only started serving food again & we wanted to try it. The pub reopened in 2015 having been taken over by new owners, after been closed for some time. It was very busy in the bar and the lounge and we were shown to our table in the restaurant part. Service, food, atmosphere & value for money was 10 out of 10. The food was piping hot and served with lovely mash and vegetables. My husband chose the exotic selection of ice cream for dessert which was rum & raisin/coconut/caramel crunch. It was delicious.(I had to have a taste!) I decided to have a cappuccino which came with a digestive biscuit which gets a star in my book! All I can say is we will definitely be back. Lovely menu with many lovely dishes to choose from & very friendly staff.

Bates Restaurant
Main Street, Rathdrum, Rathdrum, Wicklow

I haven't visited Bates in a long time and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was good and the menu was very extensive. You could choose form the Al a Carte, Specials menu or value menu. Food top class. One of our group didn't get her meal until after us as there was a problem with her potatoes they said and she got a top up of her wine glass. The only thing I would say is that at the prices we paid I think it should be standard that you get potatoes and vegetables as it said only one side order came with the main course. Vegetables are not that expensive. I will be back as I enjoyed it very much

The Conservatory Bistro @ The Glenview Hotel
Glen of The Downs, Delgany, Wicklow

We brought a friend for lunch today and decided to go upstairs for the set lunch. I couldn't praise it enough. The beautiful bright dining room with the tables covered with table cloths. It was very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was exceptional as was the service. I will definitely go back , while €27.50 is a little expensive in these recessionary times it was worth paying this price. A lovely place to bring someone for a meal.

La Metisse
Bridge St, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

If you want very good value for money try their early bird up to 7.30pm, fab. Great food for a very reasonable price. We were in a group of ten and service was ok as we were chatting but would be a bit slow if you were on your own, but saying that we will definitely be returning. Well done on giving value for money

Woodlands Restaurant @ The Glenview Hotel
Glenview Hotel, Glen of the Downs, Delgany, Wicklow

Met a friend for lunch today and decided to go upstairs to the restaurant. It was beautiful and bright with lovely tablecloths on the table. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious and we asked for some extra vegetables and that was no problem and they were brought to us nearly immediately. There was a lovely choice and the food was exceptional as was the service. I would definitely go back , while the price of €27.50 was a bit high in these recessionary times it was worth the money for the exceptional food and ambience.

The Fern House Cafe at Avoca Kilmacanogue
Avoca, Kilmacanogue, Wicklow

We went to The Fern House last Thursday night and I was a bit aprehensive going as I had heard it was quite expensive, but to my surprise the menu was very reasonable priced with a set two course and three course meal and the wine wasn't overpriced either. I have learned from reading reviews here that this is a special "Thursday night" menu. The service was excellent, which you expect when they include service charge, which like another reviewer , annoys me in these days of austerity and service charge is given on the basis of good service, shouldn't be presumed beforehand. The waitress was pretty and so helpful as was the man who we paid our bill to. It worked out very reasonable after four three courses and three bottles of wine. The food was really good and I definitely would go back again, but I would have to enquire as to the prices on the weekend nights. The ambience and the surroundings were beautiful and it was full and had a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed it and will go back again, even if it is on a Thursday night. Think they should drop their policy of including service charge as it only gets peoples backs up in these days when people are watching what they spend.

Pings Chinese Restaurant (Wicklow)
The Mall Main st, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

We just love pings so much. They have a fantastic early bird that goes on all night for just under 17 euro and there is a fantastic choice. The staff are always so pleasant and the food is superb. The al la carte menu had lots of choice. The restaurant is so cosy but it is advisable to book as you don't want to be disappointed. Great restaurant

Jack Whites Inn
Jack Whites Cross Brittas Bay, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Had lunch here with my parents on Sunday 29th April, 2012. It was very busy when we arrived but the staff were excellent we were no time getting a table where a lovely waitress called Katie served us so efficiently while we were there. It was very busy but there was no delay in giving us menus or taking our order or serving us our lunch. The three course lunch was €15 and was such good value as it had an extensive choice from all courses. I had one of the nicest lasagnes I've ever had and one of our party had the steak which had a €2 supplement which was well worth it as it came on a sizzling hotplate with mushrooms and onions and would melt in your mouth it was so tender. My husband had curry which came with chips and rice. The desserts were really good I had Belgian waffle with honeycomb icecream, amazing!! I will definitely be visiting Jack Whites again for lunch and maybe will go back in the evening too. It stands out as being one of the nicest places I have eaten in recent times. Long may it continue and thank you Katie!!

The Kings Quarter Restaurant
Newcastle, Newcastle, Wicklow

Driving through Newcastle we decided to call in although we had heard nothing about it. When we went in at 7.30pm we were the only people in it and unfortunately only two other people came in while we were there. This is a beautiful restaurant, the food was really really good. My husband had prawn cocktail which he said was the best he had ever eaten. There were 11 tiger prawns. I had pate which was lovely with a nice salad. My husband had fillet steak with lovely fried onions and thick cut chips. I had the Queens chicken, which was lovely but the creamy sauce was too watery for me I would have liked it thicker but the taste was lovely. I had a cappuchino which came with a homemade Baileys truffle (very nice) and my husband had Mint crisp creme de menthe cheesecake. Delicious. It's well worth a visit and would have been perfect if there had have been more customers. So hopefully they will advertise more. There is a special meal for two on the first Fri of each month €60 for two with a bottle of wine which we are definitely going to go back and try and bring some friends with us. A shame there wasn't more people there enjoying the lovely food. The waiter and lady in charge were really lovely and couldn't do enough for us and a lovely cd playing of the rat pack which did help the atmosphere. Well done and hopefully people will hear about it and support them.

Casapepe
Wicklow House, Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

A party of ten of us went to Casa Pepe last Friday night. When we arrived there was one other table of four occupied and through the night there was only a couple of tables occupied. Very lacking in atmosphere because there was so few in it. I now know why. The waitress was very efficient despite the fact that she had been left on her own to serve everyone, lucky she didn't have a full house. When our bill came I was appalled to see that a total of €54 service charged was added on. Do these people know we are in a recession? While other restaurants are offering early birds and all sorts of deals, Casa Pepe have not changed their price and add on service charge. Service charge should be at the discretion of the customer not a presumption by the propriertor. Parties of 8 and over are charged service charge which is discrimination. If we had known we would have booked two tables of four. I will never go to this restaurant again, food too expensive and service charge is a no no in this economic climate.

Woods Restaurant - Closed
Main Street, Roundwood, Wicklow

I have visited Woods restaurant on many occasions and the staff in Woods are very friendly and welcoming when you arrive. They cannot do enough for you and have always made sure that you were well looked after. The value menu is fantastic and I think anyone who is feeling the pinch in the present economy would be very happy to see that they can have a three course dinner with fine food and service for only €24.50. The value menu definitely does not lack taste or imagination, fresh homemade soup, warm chicken salad or sardines are just a selection of starters you can choose from and sea bass, striploin steak, salmon or lamb shank are some of the main courses on the value menu and they are cooked to perfection and full of taste and imagination in my opinion. Woods also provide a vast vegetarian menu which is full of many starters and main courses. The ambience and the surroundings would lead you to believe that you are actually dining in a top class restaurant in the middle of Dublin but the prices thankfully do not show this as it is fantastic value for money. There is a lovely “snug” in Byrnes bar just as you go into the restaurant where you can have pre-dinner drinks or after dinner drinks in nice quiet surroundings. I will definitely be eating there for the foreseeable future.
