Met a friend here for a relaxed mid week dinner. The chicken wings were very tender and the buffalo sauce is delicious. The shepherds pie was gorgeous and got the thumbs up from baby too! Generous portions, great value and friendly staff. Thumbs up!

La Metisse
Bridge St, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

La Metisse is a nice small restaurant just off the main street in Wicklow Town. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. The chicken caesar salad and fillet of pork are both delisious. Desserts would be the only downfall. Any I've tried didn't rock my world. The waitresses are super nice though, there's always a warm welcome in La Metisse.

The Kitchen @ Gorey
1-4 North Parade, Gorey, Wexford

The Kitchen really is a gem of a restaurant. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere, and the waiters and waitresses are very helpful and attentive. The food is delcious. On my first visit I had the Irish Chicken Liver Paté starter (divine) followed by the Lemon and Dill Battered Kilmore Quay Cod & Chips. They also do a fantastic Sunday roast and the pizzas that come out of their Wood Fired oven deserve some sort of award they are so good! I've been back once or thrice, and will be back some more. Highly recommended.

Eco Pizzeria & Restaurant
50 Main Street, Gorey, Wexford

This is a great spot for an informal meal or birthday dinner. Unfortunately on the night we were there the service wasn't great, we were one of two tables yet the two floor staff seemed under pressure. The Chicken Boscaiola is delicious, very filling but the ultimate comfort food. The have sushi nights also, so that might be worth checking out the next time. They also offer a loyalty card program.

Chakra by Jaipur
1st Floor, Meridian Point, Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

Another delightful evening in Chakra, this restaurant never fails to disappoint. The Gosht Ke Kebab starter is gorgeous, lamb cooked three ways and presented beautifully. For mains I tried (but failed to finish!) my Tandoori Murgh. The chicken was beautifully tender and the sauce was delicious. I was just too full, but will arrive with a larger hunger in my belly next time! A truly excellent restaurant.

The Bridge Tavern
Bridge Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

I ate here with friends mid week. It was quite busy for food, but we were soon moved to a warmer table indoors. The pork belly starter was divine, filling - but gorgeous. The lamb shank was meltingly good, however the vegetables it came with had certainly been under the lamps too long and were quite dried out. The dauphinoise potatoes were deliciously creamy. The house wine was lovely, however there wasn't a waitress to be seen once we'd been served the main course so we didn't order a second bottle in the end. The could do with an extra waitress mid week, certainly for the summer season anyway. I'll definitely be back, but I think they could do with some light bites options for those not looking for a full dinner.

The Coffee Shop
Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

The coffee shop is located on the main street in Wicklow Town. They have a deli counter with sandwich and salad options, generally a choice of two soups and a couple of hot specials. I had a 'Black Castle' baguette which was tasty, but my partners lasagne was very average. Fine if you're looking for a quick bite - but don't expect anything too special. On the plus side, the staff will give you the password for the wifi if you ask nicely :)

Masala House
Riverwalk Lane, Arklow, Arklow, Wicklow

This restaurant is now called Masala House. We have been customers since they opened, and their food is excellent. There is parking outside the restaurant, but they also offer a take away service. For starters I can recommend their Sheek Kebab and Chicken Chat. Their Chicken Tandoori Tikka Masala, Chicken Chilli Masala and Murghi Masala are all excellent. I think I may be addicted to their mushroom rice. Great value for money, you will not leave hungry.

The Park Bistro
Fenbyrne House,, Castlepark, Arklow, Wicklow

We attended the Spanish Tapas Night in The Park restaurant which was priced at €50pp. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco while the maître d ran through the set menu with us. Each course was served with an accompanying wine, with an extra glass of your choice at the end of the meal. The food was excellent, and the staff were very attentive despite there being a large christmas party seated in the centre of the room who were not taking part in this menu. I was a little stuck for choice as I don't eat fish, which featured in both the trio of starters and two mains. Thankfully it was tapas so we could swop some stuff around. The Park leans on the pricey side, so is nice for a treat.

Backstage @ Bels CLOSED
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

We called in for a quick bowl of soup while passing through Greystones. The restaurant was about three quarters full, and I would blame the poor service on them being understaffed, had a not noticed the girl behind the counter playing with her phone non stop! When they eventually took our order the soup took ages to arrive. When it did, it was gorgeous. I can't fault it. We shared a berry crumble for dessert which was equally delicious. The topping was really crunchy. The decor is nice and the restrooms are clean. I'll definitely be back, but not if I'm in a hurry to be served!

Christie's
38 Main Street, Arklow, Arklow, Wicklow

Christies is a nice cosy pub on the main street of Arklow with plenty of parking nearby (it backs on to the river front). The food is always excellent. I tried the Mexican Special Wrap recently which was really good, their chips are super delicious. They also do a fantastic asian style chicken noodle dish if you are looking for something with a bit of a kick. The gentleman who served us could not have been more helpful. They do a special in the evenings, starer / main / dessert for €20, or €50 per couple including a bottle of wine. Top class food at very reasonable prices.

El Rincon Tapas Bar
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

We went here for a quick bite to eat while passing through Greystones. There is a nice early bird, three tapas and a glass of wine for €18.50. The meatballs were lovely, the sauce is really good as is the sauce on the patatas bravas, it has quite a kick! I also tried the stuffed mushrooms with chorizo which was a tad disappointing, more a deep fried garlic mushroom type dish to be honest. We also had the prawns (which I'm told were lovely), the sweet potato cubes and the spicy chorizo. Overall the food was lovely. On the downside, the door to the cleaning room was wide open displaying the mops etc and we could also hear the chef from the kitchen but to be fair the restaurant was very quiet at the time. We will definitely be back, the food was nice, the staff were lovely and it was good value aswell.

The Tap
The Tap (Inactive), Kilbride Street, Ashford, Wicklow

What a gem! We called in to Romany Stone one Wednesday for a quick cup of tea but it was so much more than that. You walk in the door to be greeted by a big Christmas hug. White fairy lights, a roaring fire and the smell of delicious baked goods. We ordered poached eggs (and tea!) and I couldn't fault it. The brown bread it was served with was divine. It was tempting to cancel the Christmas shopping and sit there grazing for the day looking out at the snowy fields. I'll definitely be back.

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I visited Saba for something quick to eat last Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy, yet the staff made sure we had everything we needed. I had the Hoisin Duck Rolls to start. Very tasty, if a little difficult to get out of the bamboo steamer in one piece! For mains I had the Phad Kraprow with Chicken which was delicious. Just the right amount of heat. The portion size was generous too, I couldn't finish my main much to the delight of my partner! There is always room for dessert. I went for the Warm Chocolate Brownie. It was only O.K., quite nutty and not very chocolatey. One of the reasons I love Saba is the drinks menu. Their cocktails are astounding. However, as I was driving I went for the non alcoholic Lemon and Lime Bitters which was so so tasty. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Yummy. I'll definitely be back!!

Leitrim Bar & Lounge
15 Leitrim place, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

The Leitrim Lounge is well known for it's carvery and it's generous portions. The menu tends to be a bit on the heavy side. If it's a good feed you are after you'll be in heaven. The steaks and sizzlers tend to be a bit hit and miss but the burgers, paninis and marinated chicken salad are all good. It's a shame the 3 pints for €10 offer no longer applies to Fridays though!

The Yew Tree @ Chester Beatty Inn
Main Street, Ashford, Wicklow

There's plenty to choose from on the lunch menu at The Yew Tree Bistro. In addition to the spacious seating area there are also tables outside. I highly recommend the Club sandwich or the Chicken wrap. Delicious!

Eastern Balti House
31-32 Market Street, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

I ate here on Friday night while passing through Monaghan, and I'll definitely be back! Relaxed atmosphere, nice decor and beautiful food. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala which was beautifully tender and the sauce was delicious. The coriander naan was really good. Looking forward to my next visit.

Casapepe
Wicklow House, Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

We visited Casapape after 9pm on Sunday and they had no issues giving us a table. Given the hour of the day we went stuck to fillet steaks, which were as always delicious. Staff were very nice too. 2 fillet steaks and a bottle of valpolicella for €75. A nice way to end a sunny Sunday!

Serpicos
Wentworth Place, Wicklow, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

I used to love the pizzas here but Im not sure if it's a new chef or the oven is banjaxed... the last four pizzas I have got from there have been black burnt around the edges and the toppings are getting scarcer!

Antonio's Ristorante Italiano
Bridge Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Excellent food and service. I highly reccomend the Orriechette with Broccolli for a vegetarian option.
