The Tower Bar & Bistro
The Waterside House Hotel, North Co. Dublin , Donabate, Dublin

Great views from the lounge bar. Food freshly made to order. REAL chips. Friendly service. Only niggle went for a walk around the cliffs after lunch and obviously there's a problem with some the staff remembering who the customers are....

Treyvaud's Restaurant
62 High Street, Killarney, Kerry

Some nights things don't go right. Booked through MenuPages. Arrived at 8pm to an almost empty restaurant. The 2 members of staff on duty did there best to be friendly and bright but the food was unexceptional and once our main courses were served and the other table of guests had left they started to blow out the candles (8.30pm) and close up for the night. We finished up our mains and our bottle of wine and left at 9pm.Some nights just don't go.......

The Green Hen
33 Exchequer street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Visited the Green Hen for the first time last Thursday for lunch The service was perfect, unobtrusive, calm and friendly. The atmosphere relaxed. The food was very good. We chose from the special lunch menu excellent value at €14.00 for two courses We chose Celeriac soup and a Ham Hock Terrine for starters. Goujons of sole in tempura batter with baby potatoes and a burger with string chips for mains The ham hock terrine was very very nice , the soup perhaps a little bland The two pieces sole in tempura batter were very tasty. The burger was moist and juicy but next time I'll ask for a little less cheese as it made it to rich. Great value. Good cooking. Nice atmosphere.Great staff. The Green Hen is defiantly going on the list. We'll certainly be back.

Charcoal Steakhouse
Henry Court, Henry Street, Kenmare, Kerry

Ate at this new restaurant the other night. It's tucked down a lane. It has a warm modern feel, all reds and wood. Good spaces between tables.Friendly service. We had Caesar salad to start (€5.95ea) it was fresh and tasty with lots of Parmesan and bacon bits Then we had two thick juicy fillet steaks (25.95ea) with homemade chips, not cheap but top quality meat.If you like good steak this is the place to go too in Kenmare

Packies
Henry Street, Kenmare, Kerry

We ordered Confit of Duck and Rack of Lamb (lamb €27.95 ea) Not cheap but worth every penny A (buzzy) intimate restaurant with a great atmosphere and great food.

profile_review

O'Donnabhain's
Henry Street, Kenmare, Kenmare, Kerry

The pub was very busy with diners the night we visited. We had chowder(€5.95) tossed mixed salad leaves (€6.45) Irish lamb stew (€13.95) Beef and Guinness Stew(€13.95). The chowder was lovely and good value The mixed salad was fresh and tasty and nicely dressed but very small just a handful of mixed salad leaves 3 pieces of sun dried tomato 3 fresh tomato quarters and 3 rock hard croutons.... totally over priced The Lamb Stew was tasteless it badly needed some thyme and the potatoes had been cooked separately then added to the stew. The beef in the Beef and Guinness stew was tender but tasted of nothing the best part of the dish was the carrots again the potatoes had been cooked separately and added to the dish. We didn't finish either stew.... So if you do eat here stick to the chowder Service by the owner was fast and friendly

Restaurant Ten Fourteen
324 Clontarf Road, Clontarf, Dublin

This great little restaurant has become a regular haunt for us.Today for lunch, Confit of duck €7.95(lovely) Steak Sandwich with sauce bearnaise €10.95(very tender) Butternut squash and leek soup €3.95 (bit bland the olive oil made it a bit greasy) Hake with Peperonata and boiled new potatoes €11.95(very tasty) Total €34.80 Good value for money. Good service. Good food.= Happy customers

Gotham Cafe
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

The starter of a Charcuterie plate between the two of us was the highlight of the meal. The cob salad was boring over ripe avocado, no vinaigrette, no hard boiled eggs, three large slices of very dry chicken and a load mixed lettuce leaves with a dollop of roquefort?? cheese dressing. My partners satay chicken breast was a better dish the rice had a strange taste that he didn't like but the chicken was lovely moist and freshly cooked. Guess we should have stuck with pizza Three glasses of wine. €58.

Alfies
10 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Came across this restaurant while browsing MenuPages looking for somewhere new to eat The restaurant has a nice ambience, an informal and friendly atmosphere I liked being able to see into the kitchen and watch the cooks/chief at work The food was very tasty. We chose from the Apres Work Menu €14 euro for 2 courses (Rice salad or potatoes are regarded as your third course) as other reviewers have mentioned there's one important thing to note about the Apres Work Menu.....both courses, starter and mains are served at the same time, three separate dishes on a long white plate. An excellent idea for those in a hurry to the theater (or nightlife) We finished up with a shared chocolate dessert (yum yum!) €7 euro and two double espressos €3 euro each. Next visit when we have time to linger we will choose from the a la Carte menu and take our time to enjoy this nice friendly restaurant

The Pig's Ear
4 Nassau Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

The 1st floor restaurant is in a bright and pleasant room with views of the Trinity playing fields. They serve top quality Irish cuisine. Lunch was excellent and great value at €15.95 for 2 courses. I enjoyed the Terrine With Spiced Fruit Relish and Guinness Sausage with mash and green beans. Looking forward to my next visit

Beaumont House
1 Shantalla Road Beaumont, Beaumont, Dublin

Reheated chips Went there for a carvery lunch Not good. Chose a burger with pepper sauce, salad and chips as the two roasts on offer looked dried out. I couldn't believe it when the server called to the kitchen 'Chef more chips' What the chef brought out were stale REHEATED chips. (Imagine chips you've bought from the local chipper and left in the fridge overnight and then reheated in an oven) This was at 12.30, lunch service runs from 12.00 till 4.00 If the kitchen can't organize freshly cooked chips during lunch service they may as well give up and stick to sandwiches. Nice pub for a drink stay away from the hot food. Cost €11.90 Over priced and badly cooked

ZAO Thai Restaurant
96B Omni Park Shopping Centre, Swords road , North Dublin, Santry, Dublin

Decided to give this restaurant a try because we got €5.00 off chits with our Omni Cinema tickets. Gosh what a find, beautiful food beautifully presented and great service. My only complaint is that the restaurant was very cold. The doors along one side of the restaurant open out onto a veranda and there are gaps between the doors, which the wind whistles through. Probably not a problem on a busy Friday or Saturday night but on a quite Wednesday night it was so cold we had to keep our coats on. GET CURTAINS OR FIX THE WINDOWS please…. They seem to do a huge take away/delivery trade. I wonder if this is the reason.

The Cedar Tree
11a St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Friendly, warm, easygoing, family style service. What they do, they do well. The Cedar Tree has been around since the 80’s and is still going strong. If you can’t decide what to eat, I recommend ordering one of the mezze menus €20- €30 per person

profile_review

Chatham Brasserie
Chatham Street, City Centre South, Dublin

First visit to the Chatham Brassiere over all it was a nice meal We chose from the early bird menu, chickpea soup and steak and chips for two. The soup was bland and under seasoned. The steak was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of lovely large chips one hit one miss The service was pleasant and friendly and an extra charge on our bill was quickly sorted

The Restaurant @ Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer, Grafton Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Over all we enjoyed lunch at Marks and Sparks new table service restaurant on the top floor of their Grafton St., branch. They have a nice seating area outside with umbrellas and heaters, but as it was quite windy we sat inside .The new restaurant is bright and airy. The food is M&S fare (as sold downstairs in the supermarket) I had the roast of the day, a gammon served with rich gravy, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding with a side dish of fresh veg. €13.99 It was perfectly cooked and very tasty. My partner had a prawn and avocado salad €10.99 sorry to say the avocado wasn’t ripe which spoiled the dish. Nobody came to ask if every thing was okay. Total cost €34.28 inc. a large glass of wine €6.50 and a litre of water €2.80

Kealys of Cloghran

When we arrived they were very busy and there didn’t seem to anywhere to sit, but a member of staff carrying a food order said I’ll be back in a minute I’ll get a table for you and she did. The service was fast and friendly, the food tasty and freshly prepared. Décor fresh and clean I’ll be back

Good World Chinese Restaurant
18 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Came back to this restaurant after many years eating elsewhere. The décor hasn’t changed nor the clientele there are always lots of Chinese people eating here, a good sign I recommend the Dim Sum and eating Chinese style

Sheng Jing
110 Drumcondra Road Upper, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

Better known as a take-away, they do have a small restaurant with the same menu. Handy if you're staying in a local B&B or Hotel. Good (standard) Chinese/Thai food.

Il Corvo Restaurant

An extremely popular Italian restaurant. I've been eating in II Corvo since it was half the size. Excellent value for money (same owners as the Chilli Banana).

Chilli Banana
112 Upper Drumcondra Road, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

The evening I ate there they were empty never a good sign. Pricey for what's on offer Starters good. Main course dry and over cooked (Duck) they haven't got the lighting right. Staff polite.

Washerwomans Hill
60 Glasnevin Hill, Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin

This is one of my favourite local restaurants, the atmosphere is informal. The food is consistently good. The staff are friendly and chatty. It can get a bit noisy if there's a large group dining but that's part of the atmosphere
