4 of us went here for dinner one evening after work - we sat outside with blankets - I couldn't fault the food the waiting staff were lovely and I really like the way you don't have to reserve a table

I eat here about 2 years ago and taught it was lovely so when my boyfriend suggested we go there for a cheap and cheerful meal I was looking forward to it. Our night didn’t start too well as our waiter was quite abrupt and it seemed like he just didn't want to be there. I ordered the garlic mushrooms to start and the chicken in white wine and mushroom sauce as a main – the waitress then asked me if I would like and side with the order – I would have imagined that at €16.95 you would get chips with your chicken in a family restaurant seemly I was wrong. I had the same dish 2 years ago and chips/side salad was included and cost about €14 so obviously their prices had gone up and their portions down. My starter of garlic mushrooms consisted of a fist of chopped mushrooms fried in garlic butter it was average to not good, but the fact that they charged over €6 for a dish that cost about 50 cent to make is a joke. The mains was nice but again paying nearly €20 for chicken and chips is allot for casual dining. All in all if I had wanted to go for a cheap and cheerful meal – I should have just gone elsewhere – needless to say I won’t be back.

2-3 Drury Street, South William Street, Dublin

Loved this restaurant - it is expensive but if you take this into account before you book I don't think you'll be disappointed. Went here with my husband for his birthday- it's a real quirky restaurant menu is in Italian (and huge) so the waiter had to translate which added to its charm. We got a antipasti plate to start - meats were freshly cut you can see this being done in the background cheese bread was all delicious. I got the duck for main it was one of the best duck dishes I have ever had. Deserts were presented wonderfully didn't love mine or my husbands but otherwise a great experience - food, service was excellent.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

This used to be my absolute favourite restaurant in Dublin but over the last few years I have found it to have got less good with each visit. Myself and my husband visited recently they have changed the layout of the restaurant and extended part of it out - which I think has taken from the original somewhat. We were seated in the extended part which has room for maybe 5 or 6 tables and a bar – it is completely removed from the fabulousness of the main room with its high ceilings and drapes. Food was okay – like I said I think it has dis-improved over the years’ service was excellent. A first timer I think will love this restaurant but it’s just not what it was …..
