Went out last night (Monday) for the early bird deal with my brother and my wife. For the record i eat out a fair bit and this is the first restaurant that i've given full marks in all categories. The early bird is up till 7 pm and it's for 2 courses. Two of us ordered the platter which was priced at €12.95 each on the normal menu.I was delighted that there was no suplement. It was fab.We also ordered monkfish pieces that were to die for. all the mains were 10/10 2 sizzling beef dishes and a thai red curry. I would highly recommend trying this place out, lovely bar also for a drink before/after. Most enjoyable meal out for a long time.

Guinea Pig
17 Railway Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

Went here with my wife, opted for the celebration menu,€80 for 2 including wine. I was shocked to see a bad review below. This was one of the best meals we've had in years.Honestly could not fault anything. I had chowder,it was a taste sensation.Wife had smockies, they were fab. For main i had a mixed fiss grill with garlic,it was 10/10,cod,salmon,sole and haddock. My wife had salmon with crab, again fab. We also had a lovely sorbet after the starter. Choc cake and cheesecake for desert were also lovely. We also had a few side portions which they siad were on the house, fried onions and fondant potatoes. A super dining experience,we will be back soon

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Brought my eldest son here a few weeks ago and i wasn't overly impressed. It has to be said the early bird offer of 3 courses for €20 and a glass of wine is without doubt great value ,the food was a bit average. My son was happy with his spag bol,i tasted it and it was nice. I started with the chilli prawns and they were very nice. My chichen fajitas were a big let down. There was no flavour at all from the chichen, not even close to the pack you buy in tesco with the spicy sauce, the bread was a bit chewy and the dips were just ok. I had cheesecake for desert and that wasn't quite set but it was fine. All in ll a bit of a letdown for me.

Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

I was once a regular visitor here many years ago so on Sunday myself and my wife decided to take a trip down memory lane. The service is still as good as ever and the pizza's were lovely too. We went for the value menu(2 courses for €16). They do a lovely kentucky pizza which has a barbeque base instead of the normal tomato and it still tastes magic. My wife had garlic bread with cheese for starter. I had garlic mushrooms,to be honest they were a bit greasy but to be fair i still polished them off. All in all a pretty good experience and we will return for sure.

Campo de' Fiori Bistro Market
1 Albert Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow

I'm so glad i decided to stop here this evening, without a doubt the best food i've ever had in Bray.A very authentic Italian.Great atmosphere, great staff.A real dining experience. We ordered the antipasti and it was quickly scoffed. All quality ingredients. On to the mains, My friend had the Fiorentina steak(not cheap,€35ish) and as usual he said it was top quality,it's not for me as it's served rare/med rare so i went for the fillet and it was superb.Cooked perfectly medium with pepper sauce and chips. I would highly advise people to check this place out.

The Fern House Cafe at Avoca Kilmacanogue
Avoca, Kilmacanogue, Wicklow

Had a meal here on Saturday night with my father. There really is a great atmosphere in this restaurant,it was buzzing.Anyway my Dad's a big steak fan so i went with him on this occasion.Sirloin was the option and although he was pleased with his 'well done' steak my mtw was defo overcooked,It was on a bed of green beans, not my fav,no onions or mushrooms and they weren't an option as an extra portion.Bernaise sauce was a bit gloopy,i would not order it again,i scoped the man next to me having the sea bass(which replaced the halibut on the menu)and it looked very good. For desert we ordered the chocolate fondant betweeen us and that was faultless.Bear was a nice organic English bear, bit expensive at €7 a bottle, considering i've just sourced some from off licence today for €2.40.Overall food was good but a bit pricey, also any restaurant that has service charge added on at the end automatically annoys me.

Bates Restaurant
Main Street, Rathdrum, Rathdrum, Wicklow

I was passing through Rathdrum on my own one evening over the christmas so i decided to treat myself.I have to say it the food was flawless.Seafood chowder to start,as good as i've ever had, very tasty.Follwed that with a beautiful silver hake cooked to perfection.Tight little spot with a lovely atmosphere.I will be back soon for sure, well worth a try.

Pattaya Thai
Johnstown Road, Cabinteely, Cabinteely, Dublin

If you're looking for a good value lunch you will do well to beat the €10 all you can eat(thurs/fri only).Usually i stear clear of deals like this but the quality of the food is quite good. The thai green/red curry is very good and the noodles are as good as you'll get. They also do a Sunday lunch for €13 pp.The place never seems busy on a Sunday for some reason,i've been here quite a few times and have never had a bad experience.

Lee's of Kilcoole (Old Owners)
Main Street, Kilcoole, Wicklow

Passing by here on Saturday decided to give it a try.I'm not big on pub grub so was dragged in a bit by my wife and 2 kids (11 and 5). I have to say it was great value and the food was great.Didn't know it was free kids on a Sunday so happy days. One kid eats free (under 12's) with every adult meal purchased. I'm not keen on carvery so was delighted that i could order off a seperate menu. It was €13 for 2 courses and €15 for 3 courses, that's some value. Anyway i had steak sambo which was lovely and choc/orange chesecake after.Wife had baked cod and bannofi.Kids had half roast each, all happy(portions are very big) Including a few drinks the bill came to €38,we will be back.

Three Qs
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

This is one of my favourite restaurants. They have the best fry up in Wicklow,a bit pricey for some at €11 before your tea/coffee but beleive me it's worth it. Anyway myself and my wife had a great meal there recently. The food is fab,we both had the mushroom brioche, wow.I then had the haddock and chips and she had steak, could not fault it at all, they do an early bird,2 courses for €23 ish, great value. One negative,it's a bit tight and noisy for some i'd say, only one unisex toilet is a real no no as it does get busy. We will be back again and again.

The Burnaby Lounge Bar
Church Rd Greystones, Greystones, Wicklow

I had heard from friends the food here was good but my experience was not a good one. I went for dinner with a friend. We both had the chichen curry and we both thought it was one of the worst curry's we've ever had.Very bland,no kick to it at all. Now i'm not afraid to complain so i pointed out to the lady that the curry was not up to scratch but she just didn't want to know. I could have asked for the manager but didn't bother, just will not return EVER,first impressions etc.

Cafe 31
Old Bray Road, Cabinteely, Dublin

This Italian is best described as 'average',brought my 2 kids (11 and 5)and wife here last week. Definitely child friendly but the food was just 'ok',kids were happy enough with their pizzas but my steak was not cooked even close to the medium i ordered. My wife's pasta dish was very bland also.Service was fine but i probably would have went back. However,as i work close by i dropped in with a friend during the day last week. I ordered 2 coffee's to take away and the member of staff seemed to have a real attitude on him.Maybe because i just ordered coffee to go or maybe just having a bad day,a perfect example of why you should treat each customer the same regardless of spend. His bad attitude will ensure i will not return.
