My second visit, this is without doubt my favorite Thai restaurant in Ireland, the place as buzzing as usual, we had booked a table. service was fast efficient and friendly, the food fresh tasty and delicious, the bill very reasonable, just wish I lived in Dublin as I would love to work my way through the menu, highly recommended

Large spacious dining room with beautiful view, myself and other half were seated by window for Lunch €35 for 2 courses and €45 for 3 courses. She ordered crab and baby tomatoes, she actually got crab mayonnaise salmon avocado and salmon caviar , it was delicious , but it was a strange mistake to make I had pea soup with ham shank ravioli, this was very disappointing, totally lacking in seasoning. For her main course was cep risotto with parmesan shavings which she loved. I had sea Bream with colcannon and cep sauce, fish was perfect sauce was very watery and tasteless I thought. Herself had the vanilla cheese cake with mango sorbet which was really delicious, I finished with lovely coffee and petit fours. Bill with a glass of Shiraz came to €97.50. Service was efficient, but were several mistakes which one would not expect it this type of establishment, no cutlery for deserts, no milk for coffee and then there was her starter. Over all I was disappointed not only with the food but there was an overwhelming sense of formality in the restaurant, there was no flow about the place. Here gets 7, sorry Gordon

The Ballymore Inn
Main Street, Ballymore Eustace, Kildare

Have eaten lunch here many times over the years and always thoroughly enjoyed it, remember the days it was still a pub that served food, so was interested to try dinner there...... arranged to meed another couple on a cold winters night; the turf fires gave a nice warm and friendly glow to the place. Looking at the menu it did not take me long to see things had changed .... namely the prices!!! So we were paying Dublin prices in a restaurant in the middle of no where, no offence to Ballymore Eustace, dont really have a problem with this if the food is up to scratch .... and that is where the problem lay!!! All 4 of us agreed that it was seriously overpriced for the quality of food served, all seemed to be way over salted, my wife did point this out to the very nice and efficient waitress, who to be fair came back and said that she would get a complimentary desert!!! My friend had risotto, good risotto is a delight but it has to be cooked perfectly, unfortunately this was no, I had the fillet steak, good but not great the sauce was extremely disappointing..... you know when things are not great when we all agreed the chips , champs and coffee are the highlights of the meal!!!! Seems to me these guys are basking in past glories and are trying to "cash in" on them, charging Celtic Tiger prices for below average fare is no longer acceptable or tolerable .... sorry guys but that is the way I see it...

Simply Bates @ The Coffin Shed
Market Street, Market Square, Rathdrum, Wicklow

We called in for an early lunch, not in the restaurant but in their new cafe, located across the courtyard opposite the main restaurant. Similar decor also in a converted shed. Place was very busy, from nice menu We had the home made burger with bacon and camembert and fish and chips, both were excellent. We finished with a double espresso which was awful and a similarly bad black coffee. While the service was very friendly the food was very slow arriving (especially for a lunch break, where time is limited). It all seemed slightly chaotic, seemed to be no staff training, hence my awful espresso . Still has only been open for 3 weeks so it was probably just teething problems, will certainly be back.

The Garden Cafe @ Avoca Mount Usher Gardens
Mount Usher Gardens, Ashford (off N11), Ashford, Wicklow

Called in for lunch, it is true it is lacking in atmosphere, and was a bit on the cold side. I had the home made burger which was delicious, was nicely pink, just the way I like it, with delicious chunky chips, and I mean chunky, yum yum. The others had chicken wrapped in Palma ham which they were very happy with. Portion size was large, service was friendly and efficient, I figured it was good value, would recommend for the hungry traveller or any one who has spent a few hours in their lovely gardens

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Have heard so much about this place, was almost expecting to be disappointed!! Went there for lunch with my daughter yesterday, we shared a beet-root salad, then the high light we both had the belly pork, unbelievable, even better than Mama make, melt in your mouth good, delicious colcannon and as for the cabbage. I am serious it was that good all for less than €54.00 including 2 coffee's

Koo Restaurant
5 Knockmullen Retail Park, Gorey, Gorey, Wexford

I love this place, it is completely different to anything else in the area, from the moment you walk in there is a feeling of space, the decor is great. The menu is extensive and interesting, I decided to go "European" and was not disappointed, apparently they have a separate chef for the European food and this was reflected in my meal which was great, my partner went Asian and was equally pleased. After the meal we retired up stairs to the lounge to finish our bottle of wine where we were well entertained by their resident musician (apparently he only plays on Friday and Saturday nights). All in all a great night, if you like a night out with good food, good service this is the place for you
