We were two couples who went there as a treat. Everything was very good. A somewhat fusion menu, but none the worse for that. The two ladies went for the taster menues- which were impossible to finish- in fact we took home a doggie bag and got 2.5 meals out of them. All the flavours were wll dfferentiated, the Goan Seafood curry particularly appealed. My husband had the Tandoori Portebello to start - fresh bright flavours- and the Rogan Josh- exellent- for mains. We shared excellent kulfi for afters. We drank the Gruner Veltiner- wow!- such a great wine with the food and not one you come across too often. We left full of pleasure and food and in need of a stiff walk home! The service was flawless. It's expensive but certainly a treat!

We went there tonight. A great little local sushi place. The charming waitress was eager to help bringing us green tea and water while we chose. We went for the chefs special plate #3 about 34 pieces for €32, a mix of sushi, sashimi, maki. It was excellent, very well made. We shared a bottle of sake and left very happy. This place deserves to be better known. They do hot food as well and takeaway

Village Cafe
Rathmines, Rathmines, Dublin

We went there as a large group, having cleared that with them in good time. We agreed to work with a simplified menu to make things easier for them. Given all that it was very surprising how long it took to have them begin to pay attention to us. Ages after the menu was handed out I was still trying to find out what the special was! I ordered the salad with halloumi which I've had there once before and really enjoyed. That night it was underdressed (and I don't like much dressing) and the halloumi was tough like it had been cooked and then re-warmed. My main course was fine. Overall the food was adequate, really. My main complaint was the service which was lackadaisical. and then the incident..Our table was pushed close to the wall (next to the stove) to help them pass by and my son had hung his jacket on his chair and left his backpack on the floor. The stove has a sort of flue with very focussed hot air coming out from underneath. I smellt melted plastic and found the backpack was burning hot as was the chair back and the boys jacket, and the zip was melted. When the meal was over, I went to talk to the head waiter- he refused to respond said that there was no heat coming from the stove and was just arrogant! so here we are a new warm jacket which cost some €40 that no longer works. Just so you know- it could be an expensive dinner!

Marios (Ranelagh)
39 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

I went there with two others for a casual meal. Even though they were very busy and we had just shown up, they gave us a table quickly. The service was very friendly and good. We had 2 pizzas -Vesuvio and vegetariano- and a lamb main course. Which were all very well done; the pizza was a good thin crust and ncely balanced topping. One thing, we had ordered garlic bread as a starter which did not show up on time, but they cancelled it readily. The wine was good. and a tiramisu shared was fine. All in all a pleasant evening

Tippenyaki
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin

We had a party of 13 to start with which got changed around last minute because of family emergency. They coped very well with the changes. I've been here before and the food is always good but takes a back seat to the showmanship, which entranced kids and elders. The only gripe is the potatoes which I assume they include in the tippenyaki to be kind to the irish, but they're not very good and it would be better without. Everything else is fine. I had a sushi platter and really enjoyed it. The wine was reasonably priced. When they heard it was my birthday, they brought out a be-candled slice of chocolate cake and serenaded me with guitar (and I've seen the like before) You can't fault the good humoured showmanship!

Riva Restaurant - Harolds Cross
53 Rathgar Avenue, South Dublin, Harolds Cross, Dublin

I must agree with the other reviewers, we had an excellent, good value meal there. Everything was good. When we were there, Saturday late lunch, there were a few kids there but it wasn't noisy, just quite laid back
