I came in for a pre-movie dinner with my friend. It was quite early so not many diners, which was to my advantage. We were given a wonderful view of the Liffey and the Ha'Penny bridge. The staff, including the manager, was very attentive and we were given menus and served immediately. My friend and I decided to share a starter of spicy chicken wings and I had the fish and chips to start (with a side of mushy peas). My friend had the sirloin steak sandwich. Needless to say there was nothing left of either of our meals and we were thoroughly stuffed. The food was cooked well and of excellent quality, the service was impeccable, and the other choices on the menu were tempting. When there is very little pressure (i.e. the restaurant isn't very busy), it's a wonderful experience. I would definitely go back again and look forward to trying the new menu.

Metro Cafe
43 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Just came back from brunch at the Metro. I had a craving for pancakes and streaky bacon...and there it was! Hurrah. For 6.75 we were served scrambled eggs, two small pancakes, streaky bacon, cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that the syrup wasn't real maple, just golden syrup with maple flavour. Other than that, great atmosphere, good food, and very reasonably priced considering the neighbourhood. Looking forward to going back for brunch again.

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I came here for an early dinner with a friend, who had eaten there before and recommended the steak and meat. I had wanted to come before but it was a bit out of my budget. I was tempted to try the steak but opted for the veal and shrimp. I should have had the steak. The veal as nice but very fatty and the shrimp were served in the shell, so a bit of work. But I did like the presentation of the plate. All in all it was a pleasant enough dinner. We both had a glass of red wine and an espresso and at the end the bill wasn't astronomical. The service was ok. I had to ask for the bill a number of times but the wait staff were friendly and welcoming. I would go back and have the steak rather than the veal when finances are good. Other than that, there are other better deals out there for a good piece of meat.

101 Talbot
Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

I came here last night for an early work dinner. When I arrived (earlier than my companions), I was greeted by a friendly waiter, given a pitcher of water and lovely fresh bread and butter. Once everyone was at the table, we ordered off the early bird menu. I ordered the smoked salmon and then the chicken breast with roasted vegetables. It was all fresh and delicious. My colleague had the lamb starter and then the vegetarian curry. It was all wonderful. Looking at the others' food, the mushroom lasagne looked delicious. For 21 euro, the meal was excellent value and the food was worth coming back again. I'm delighted that the service matched the food.

Manifesto
208 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin

Despite living in Rathmines for 4 years, I had never been to Manifesto until last Wednesday. I had heard many things about it, particularly that it was the best pizza in town. Ok, great. I lived in Italy for over 4 years so was tempted. We went for an early dinner (6:30) and were seated immediately. Our other companions arrived shortly after and we were given our menus. Eventually the waitress came to take our order and we decided on some wonderful starters, the Melenzane Parmigana, Tiger Prawns, and a Caprese Salad. And seeing as the pizzas were the specialty, I chose the award-winning (2006) one. They got one starter wrong, a delicious gnoccetti with parmesan nest and slice of chicken breast, which we got to eat, but then brought our missing plate swiftly. Then our pizzas were given to us. I loved mine. It was really wonderful. I made the right choice after seeing the other pizzas. All in all the meal was delicious. The house red was very nice after we let it breath for a while. It was very good value for the quality of the food. But it's not a place you can go to frequently if you're on a budget! My one niggly bit was the service. I read the reviews on this page before and I was expecting this very warm experience. I didn't get it either when we arrived or when we were having our meal. We were ignored several times. We waited a while for our drinks, water, bread, etc. However, despite all of this, I will be going back when I'm feeling flushed.

Ciao Bella Roma
24/25 Parliament Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I went in last night for a wonderful dinner with some girlfriends. I ordered the Genovese rigatoni and was delighted to find that the meat used was of excellent quality, the pasta cooked to perfection, and the portion size was sufficient. I didn't need a dessert or starter. I did find the price of the dishes to be quite high but all in all, it was a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend it and return.

Not much to say except it was a great meal. Very good quality meat and vegetables, tasty sauces and excellent value for the meal. I'm looking forward to going back again!

Wagamama - Stephen's Green
St Stephen's Green Centre, South King St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I came here on a date with a friend who is a regular. This was my first time and I had been looking forward to going. So we decided on the very generous 3 course menu for 16.95 and we had the chicken gyoza, yakisoba, and dessert. In fairness the starters came at the same time but my main came about 15 minutes before my date's. While I was waiting for his to come, mine was getting cold. While my chivalrous date gave me the option to eat his, I stuck with my own. I only wish the waiter would have offered to heat mine up on the grill. Other than that, it was a very nice meal. I finished my plate(s) though I was so stuffed I couldn't finish my dessert. I will go back again and hope that the service is a little better the next time.

Cafe Moda
192 Lower Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin

I needed a warm place to come and do some work on my computer. I tried to go to another cafe that has good sandwich and coffee deals but all their spaces near the electric outlets were taken so I decided to come to Cafe Moda for something to eat and a coffee. I walked into an empty but cozy enough cafe (the upper part has nice sofas and the music is played at a decent noise level) and asked if I could use my computer there. The waitress said I could and asked me if I was going to eat or drink anything. I said that I would like something but would need to see the menu first. Obviously! I then ordered a hot chicken sandwich, which looked ok on the menu and a coffee. It wasn't a great deal like the other place, but I was there and it was cold outside. Everything arrived quickly but the sandwich itself was nothing special. A bit tasteless to be honest and at nearly €6 I expected something better. Instead I got a side salad of mostly onion, some tomato, and a piece of cucumber drowned in salad dressing. Well, at least I have a comfy spot. But for a place that isn't competitive with the nearby restaurants, doesn't have wifi, it was hardly worth coming here, so I'll try and leave my place earlier to get a space at the other place.

Tippenyaki
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin

My bf had promised to take me here ages ago and then sent me an email during the day to take me out. I was delighted and looked forward to it all day. In the end I wasn't disappointed. It was an excellent experience from the minute we got in there. I was seated at the bar while I waited for my bf and munched on those delicious crackers and perused the menu, then after our orders were taken we had the chef come and cook our dinner in front of us on the tippenyaki; throwing on the fresh meat, veg, and rice.It was worth sitting at the counter to get the show. I had the tippenyaki salmon, which was divine and the bf had the chicken fillet. We were both very full and enjoyed the evening thoroughly and felt that the bill at the end was very reasonable, considering our wine and a very filling dinner. I would definitely love to go back and try one of their unique specials as tippenyaki crocodile did not really appeal to me last night.

Zen
89 Upper Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin

My mum and I went to Zen on the last night of her stay in Ireland. We were both impressed at how delicious the food was. The staff were very attentive and attended to all of our needs. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and the value of the meal (we got the take out menu) was exceptional. I would definitely go back again for a nice meal with my friends, or at least with my mother the next time she visits.

Hugo's
6 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I went to Hugo's for my birthday bash and had 10 of my closest friends as well as my visiting mother....I cannot give Hugo's enough praise for such a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant itself is elegant, very spacious, and beautifully decorated. The staff were wonderfully attentive. From the moment my party and I walked in, we were treated exceptionally well, something that a lot of Dublin restaurants have been lacking since I moved back nearly 4 years ago. The food was of an excellent standard; I had a wonderful meal and my friends cannot stop raving how wonderful their salmon, eggs, chicken, scallops, etc were. I had the lamb dish and I thought it was wonderful. Hugo's has been recommended to me by a couple of friends, and I would like to keep up recommendations myself and I look forward to trying the Sunday brunch

Village Cafe
Rathmines, Rathmines, Dublin

I was looking for a good cup of coffee along the Rathmines road, when I stumbled upon the Village Cafe, which I have seen open and closed on various occasions in the nearly 4 years I have been living in Rathmines. The coffee was delicious, nice and strong like I like it..and then I was tempted by the scrambled eggs that the person beside me was eating. So, I ordered the smoked salmon scrambled eggs, and within a few minutes of ordering, I received a generous serving of scrambled eggs with an equally generous serving of chopped up smoked salmon and lovely brown toast to go with it. After devouring the dish, a member of staff asked me how I enjoyed my meal. I told them they were the best scrambled eggs with smoked salmon that I've had in a long time and that the coffee was delicious and that I'm ashamed that I didn't bring my mother who had left Dublin just a week earlier. I promised that I would let menupages know of my experience and that I would recommend the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon to all Dubliners and visitors to our fair city. I will definitely go back there soon...

Maloti
34-35 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

I think this is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in Dublin. My second visit with a friend who loves a good curry. Despite the restaurant being full of Christmas partiers, we managed to get a seat and had excellent service. The Christmas menu was great value and had wonderful choice. I will definitely go back again.

Kafka (Dublin)
236 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin

I went for my fourth visit on Saturday afternoon and had the goat's cheese salad. Delicious as always, but a bit pricey for the size. I was still a little hungry afterwards, which surprised me as I was full the first time. However, I will go back again. The food and service are great and the atmosphere, even during the day is very good. I'm delighted it's in my neighbourhood.
