Clarin Bistro @ Raheen Woods Hotel
Raheen, Athenry, Galway

had food in this bistro on two occassions the first nite i was excited such a varied menu.but of course i choose the steak at €21 i said to myself it should be good and stated on the menu (15mins waiting time) but i was so dissapointed,to me it was pre cooked, not juicy and very dry,but i was hungry so i managed to finish it,my partner a vegatarian ordered feta cheese and tomato quiche, again very dissapointed the quiche was over microwaved so much so it was solid,so as a chef it proved to me that the chef had no pride in his work,we did complain at reception and they assured us they would pass on our comments to the bar manager

The Olde Glenbeigh Hotel
Glenbeigh, Killarney, Kerry

wen you looking to visit kerry a stay at this hotel is a must, both food and acc are top class, as featured on tv recently by the famous brennan brothers it offers what it says on the tin, a husband and wife team he is the head chef she is front of house along with the rst of the team the place is buzzing with plates of food so much so you might have a five ten min wait for a table, all the traditional dishes are on offer to include beef chicken tirkey and ham and of course the fish offers, i had simply bbq chicken wings and sea bass whick was cooked to prefection. all the freshly made food is at a great price served verly quickly after you order and served by frendly staff so much so that one of the waitresses sat down and had a chat with us while we were eating just to ask where we wer from and how was the food, well done to all the team. we will be def back soon

Becketts Bar and Restaurant
Knockboy, Dunmore Road, Waterford City, Waterford

what a fantastic restaurant. a bit dark looking from the outside and my only negative about the inside is i would like to see the lights a bit brighter, a busy restaurant and a great selection of food on the menu and resonable priced.i had roast pork noodle salad for starter and it was delicious has steak for mains with lovely chunky chips lovely pan-fried mushrooms and a side of mild pepper sauce, there was 3 vegatarians in the party all of which has 3 differant vegatarians options that were on the menu for stater and mains, the creamy mushroom starter was divine. desserts all homemade the filling in the choc roulade was a bit heavy but overall an excellant meal was had by all well worth a visit, also advisable to book in advance well done all concerned.

China Tower (Ballybofey)
Main Street, Ballybofey, Donegal

we visited china tower sister restaurant in stranorlar "oriental palace" which is 5 mins walk from ballybofey....looks are deceiving?? wats an experience...from the outsitd and lookinh trought the window it looked very much a cosy place to eat inside it looked like elton johns front room...my god...we were the only diners in the hour and half we spent there. it was dimley lit only one bulb out of 5 working over our table...i had yuk sung for starter which is normally a dry mix of beef chicken or pork itwas hard to describe and tasteless. the sweet and sour pork glowed at the table with the over use of red food colouring everything was salty, and to top it off a waitress who didnt understand english..do not visit this chinese when in donegal, over priced and food is disgusting...

The Yellow Pepper Restaurant
36 Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, Donegal

what a jewel in the town of letterkenny i booked trough menupages so i assume the staff new we were critics. but they had nothing to worry about. top class service and the food ? a well educated chef in the kitchen all dishes had attention to detail....mini seafood platter well presented and a nice warm grilled garlic crumbed mussel in its shell...i had duck for main a little to heavy on the balsamic reduction but very tasty otherwise. the chicken korma i would say was the best korma sauce ive tasted and ive eaten in alot of indian restaurants around the world...so top marks for that. proper desserts finished off the meal....try the choc brownie..hmmmm. 5 starters 5 mains 4 desserts 4 soft drinks and half btl wine 157euro...excellant value. dont visit donegal without a vist to the yellow pepper. advised to prebook....yes im a chef.

Corbett Court
Kilworth, Fermoy, Fermoy, Cork

what can i say...i hate to see plastic plates in any restaurant....apart from that food was good...taught it was a bit unfair for one waitress to look after so many tables but she did a very good job..without a notepad...would advise the chef to cut back on the steak size just a bit too big to digest.

Joes
6 Stanhope Street, Athy, Kildare

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant of all time...the attention to detail from the time you arrive....hard to believe that this premises was once a thriving supermarket...as you sit and savour the Chinese delights freshly prepared by the chefs..always eager to create a new dish on every occasion....the soft Chinese music playing in the background adds to the ambiance of this restaurant. A good selection of foods to choose from....but ask Joe (the boss)for a sample of his fresh fruit platter to share as a dessert....highly recommended

The Hide-Out
Main Street, Kilcullen, Kildare

On a recent visit to the famous hide out I ordered steak and chips asking for no onions or tomatoes simply because I don't eat them and they would be a waste. So yes they arrived on the plate all chargrilled - the steak, the onions, the tomatoes. And then to taste the previous product that was cooked on the chargrill. A wire brush is highly recommended.
