When I read the other reviews I kept checking the name and address to make sure we were all talking about the same place! This is a beautiful, bright airy room with mirrors, wood floors and beams. The service from the moment we walked in - from 3 different staff - was courteous, quick and friendly. The food was tasty, the portions were generous and the price was fine. Maybe they had some teething troubles and now they have gotten their act together, after all they haven't been open long. I strongly recommend that you give this restaurant a second chance; I'll certainly be going back.

I ate in this restaurant at least 6 times over the years and never enjoyed it. But I'd hear something favourable and decide to give it another chance but it was always overpriced average food. And then they gutted the place and I couldn't wait to see what the new restaurant was like. Sadly I can report, it's even worse! Where the old restaurant was is now a lovely big pub - albeit lacking atmosphere. Now the restaurant is housed in a small, cramped depressing room. The atmosphere and food is reminiscent of a hotel in the eighties and not a four star one. Avoid unless you're desperate.

The Old Boro Public House & Restaurant
Main Street, Swords, Dublin

The Old Boro has a lot of atmosphere and serves good quality pub grub. I usually go for a steak in a pub - it's hard to go wrong - and I had the fillet here several times. It is always good quality and served with a generous portion of very good chips or baked potato. If you're hungry, but you don't want to pay restaurant prices this is a good venue. They're wine list though small is quite good and well priced too.

What a lovely restaurant! If you're in the mood for some high quality Indian food - some Pakistani influence - this is the place to go. We booked a table for 2 for 9pm last wednesday and were amazed to find the place full and people waiting at the bar. So much for the credit crunch! We had to wait about 30 mins for our table but we had drinks and menus, the stools were comfortable and there was a nice buzz. Also about 3 different staff members apologised for the delay. There isn't a whole lot of room with tables but because of the general hum of conversation, it's not too much of a problem. We ordered starters of monkfish and prawns - both melt in the mouth - and main courses of a lamb and spinach dish and beef with corainder and yoghurt, All lovely. Naan bread was crisp and light - a real sign of a good restaurant. Wine list was varied with wine from €19 upwards. Total price was exactly what I would expect to pay for this standard and a lot more reasonably priced than most Malahide restaurants that often disappoint. Can't wait to go back. They have live jazz on a Sunday afternoon so I think I'll be back for that!

McLoughlins Restaurant @ Roganstown Hotel
Roganstown Golf & Country Club, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

This is a stunning hotel in a wonderful location with the most gorgeous lounge. Sadly the restaurant doesn't measure up. It is enormous and in half a dozen visits, I've never seen more than 4 tables occupied. It's like being in a library - you're almost afraid to talk! Food is always good and staff lovely but it's a very expensive evening given the total lack of atmosphere. They do serve some food in the lounge, though not a great selection. But it's a nicer place to sit and socialise.

ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

Went here last Wednesday and checked this website beforehand to see what the comments were. Not great. Went anyway though as know their sister resataurant in Ely Place well and decided to give it a go. It was absolutely fine. Wonderful comfortable chairs, good atmosphere and service. Went for the sausage and mash as I wasn't going to pay €26+ for basic food and I was happy with what I got. One irritant is the enormous wine list - huge selection of wine by the glass - but no descriptions. Central location and proximity to Connolly station makes it worth a visit

Indie Spice Grill
Burgundy House, New Street, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

Great food, excellent value and pleasant staff, this is another good Swords restaurant. I hate the fact that the lightling is so poor and the writing on the menu is so small, though - makes me feel old! I prefer takeaway as I find the size of this place a little bit off-putting. But the food is very good quality and an Indian friend tells me that it's the only restaurant she's found over here that's remotely authentic.

Pink Elephant
Mains Court, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

One of my favourite restaurants in Swords, the food here is consistently good. Sadly, I don't get to visit often enough but have takeaway every couple of weeks. Great food, lovely staff and reasonable price given the high quality. My only complaint is the same one I have with all Asian restaurants. Why don't they ever vary the menu or have a specials board? Well worth a visit. Enjoy!

Kitty Hawks Bar & Bistro
Carlton Airport Hotel, Old Airport Road, Cloughran, Cloghran, Dublin

Ate here last Friday night. Only two other tables of two and one large, loud party. Despite plenty of space, we were pressed into one small area. My husband couldn't hear anything I said and I was mesmorised by a row going on at the next table! Prices high but we were expecting that. We weren't, however expecting the kind of food that you would get on a 3 star hotel buffet table. Starters - scallops for me, prawns for him were just okay. Main courses, duck and beef were bland and that's being kind. The duck tasted as if it had been semi-cooked earlier in the day and then finished off before serving. Staff were nice but not nice enough to make up for this overpriced disappointing evening. Don't go.
