Although a little on the expensive side this restaurant does provide the setting for a great night out, the staples of any enjoyable evening good food, great ambience and excellent service. Waiter was polite, knowledgeable and what you would hope to expect from such an establishment, steak was fantastic but if I had to quibble on one thing it would be the starters which were to be a honest a little uninspiring however on the whole the food was very good. great desserts and sides and in a party of 7 all diners championed their main courses especially. The hostess was charming and the restaurant was buzzing on a Tuesday night, excellent outdoor space also. On the whole not to be faulted

Mimosa Wine and Tapas Bar
College Street, Carlow town, Carlow

Dined in Mimosa last Sunday, party of four, we just decided last minute to visit having been recommended by our guests who had dined here previous week, we were not disappointed. It is a quaint little dining are we were seated in out back, it was a lovely evening unfortunately there was no music on at the time however there was still a buzz about the place and it was quite busy, we were seated immediately by pleasant waiting staff. To the most improtant thing Food, firstly we chose our wines but unfortunately I forgot to get the name of what we had chose both red and white, suffice to say these were excellent so we decided not to change wines for the remainder of the evening, the tapas arrived quickly patats bravas were good and spicy, calamari and meatballs were superb also, these were followed by two dishes of very tasty prawns and chorizo in red wine sauce, my wife was not overly gone on the goats cheese with orange but felt is was unusual enough to try but personally speaking she felt it did not work and although not particurlarly tapas I couldnt resist the nachos, an excellent night had by all with some great food and wine in a lovely atmosphere, I will definitely be back to Mimosa

Yamamori Noodles
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate in Yamamori last Friday, although it was reasonably late on Friday evening and we ad no reservation, we were seated within 10 minutes which was great considering we were initially told 20 and the dining room was bussing so we were prepared to wait. Nice decor and excellent service started the meal off well, we were presented with a nice cup of green tea and our menus, a la carte and set menu deal, 4 courses for 25 euro seemed like good value so we went with that. Miso soup arrived which as very tasty, quickly followed our Sichuan Gyoza, a pork and seafood dumpling which was papcked with flavour and a zingy sauce, very tasty indeed and quite filling for a starter as there were about 4/5 on plate. Our mains followed soon after, Spicy cod tempura which were excellent and the Ebi Yaki Somen hich was a stir fried noodle dish with prawns both delicious. This was finished off with 2 coffees and bailey cheesecake each. Must say for 25 euro per head this was excellent value complemented with superb service. Would have no hesitation to recommnd this if you are looking for a good night out with good food that wont break the bank

Il Segreto
13a/b Merrion Row, City Centre South, Dublin

Went to Il Segreto with a party of 6 for dinner, nice atmosphere in the dining room and a warm reception was a good start, they have nice smoking area outside as you enter the restaurant itself, ok selction of breads with olive oil were placed on the table whilst we ordered, decent menu in terms of options and an extensive wine list, noted that on Fridays and Saturday there is music in the dining room as it also classifies itself as a piano bar. I any case, to the most important thing which is the food, scallops for starters were excellent, served with crispy bacon and mash, these were excellent, other diners in the party had the salmon, ravioli and soup of the day and there were no complaints, all very happy. For mains, I had the fillet of beef which was excellent, cooked to perfection on my request this was served with an additional side of fries with garlic aoili, the fires were a little uninspring to be honest as they looked very much like frozen chips but based on the steak itslef this was somehting i was willing to forgo. Again, other diners in party had cod & john dory and again people were quitley impressed. Desserts were good but not great, chocolate fondant was a little spongy and dry although the ice cream was excellent whilst the feedback on the eton mess was less than enthusiastic and they had forgotten the meringue. Note on the wine the sancerre and the barbera were very good, water at 4.50 a bottle is a little steep however i must admist that the service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive whilst all staff were particulrly friendly. At the end of the meal our party were offered a complimentary round of drinks by the manager which having eatne in an abundance of restaurants in Dublin is not something that occurs often so it was very well received. An excellent night, good food, nice ambience and surroundings coupled with great service all amounted to a great night in Il Segreto

Milano (Temple Bar)
19 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Ate here last Thursday, I am a bit of a regular in Milano's altho sometimes it can be troublesome getting a table. Always a bit of a buzz about the place in the evenings, semi sun dried tomatoes to nibble on to start are delicious. Generally I would order a sloppy Guisseppe or a diavolo on romana base, however this time I tried the Francesco Mazzei Calabrese and was not disappointed one bit, very spicy so if you dislike hot or spicy pizzas, steer clear but it was fantastic rectangular pizza wife ordered the il padrino instead of her usual polla dastra and although was very good , she maintained polla dastra much better I must also point out the waitress we had whose name escapes me was excellent, very attentive without being intrusive and was fantastic, not often I woudl say that about staff in Dublin so feel it right to point that out seeing as she was so good

Tavern
Dylan Hotel, Eastmoreland Place, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Still is in the Dylan hotel, this makes it a quality setting for dining, nice ambience in the dining room, good bar and great facilities, more importantly the cocktails are exquisite. The food although not inexpensive is wonderful, they do however do brunch and early bird deals, could not recommend this restaurant highly enough in terms of service, quality of ingredients and ambience. Ordered a pork belly starter however when our table was being served with other starters the waiter apologies that this had now finished and offered me a choice of other starters, I instead chose rabbit which was delivered to the table immediately followed by another starter of scallops just incase the rabbit ws not to my liking and also a complimentary glass of wine. The owners and management have hit the spot with this restaurant and do everything to cater for diners needs and wants, have no hesitation in recommending this at all!! enjoy!!

Buenos Aires Grill
Unit 2 Castle Way, Golden Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I had dined here one evening shortly after it opened and found it to be very good considering it was relatively new, mussels to start were superb and as expected the steak was excellent, nice range of wines to compliment steak also. I returned here last Sunday to try the sunday lunch, stuck to the old reliables of what I had before only this time followed up with a dessert and must say it was even better than I remember. Some of dining companions tried the lunch value menu, this involves starter, main and dessert for 20 euro, starters were beef empanadas which I was told were very tasty and full of meat which was followed by roast beef dinner which looked delicious and was assured it tasted so! the dining room is very tastefully decorated however as it was a sunday it was a little sombre although there were many other diners there but for that deal I believe it would be heard to beat in Dublin. Having said that I would definitely still come back here at night and order from the ala carte purely for the steak and wine and a little more of an atmosphere, could not be faulted

DIG IN
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

Great food at a very reasonable price makes green 19 a good shout for lunch or an evening meal when u can't be bothered cooking or if you just want to meet up with friends, its excellent value even it can be a little cramped inside as its generally quite busy, good for home fare such as burgers, bangers and mash, corned beef etc

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This restaurant is a great place for a group night out, always a good atmosphere, it can be a bit tricky if you go here as a couple and get seated beside a large group as it can be quite distracting however the staff are good when it comes to making sure youa re comfortable ordered a guinness while waiting however then found out it came from a can so sent it back, no problem, should have really known better and stuck to the great cocktails this place offers my wife went for the set menu which wasnt a great decision in retrospect, i am not a fan of these having been disappointed i think in every one I have ever chosen, quality of the food wasnt great however stick with the a la carte and you cant go wrong prawn tempura and the slow roasted prok belly are very tasty starters, the nua Phad Prik Sod is a a spicy beef dish coupled with egg fried rice is fantastic, this place isnt cheap but the food is very good,

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

having dined here several times before, came back here last Saturday night for a quick bite to eat before attending an event. Got there about 6.30pm and place was packed, as usual great vibe in the dining room, lucky to get a table but got one, bar area was packed as well, people enjoying the top notch cocktails here Prawn crackers are not the standard fare, theyre very tasty with tangy dips, chicken wings and duck rolls are quality as well. Never tried the soup but heard its excellent, im gonna order thsi next time im in, Pad Thai and bangkok noodles are superb as well, im not one fore asian desserts so usually finish the meal off with a nice refreshing cocktail which are always good here, some people have remarked its expnsive and although its not cheap i feel it is one of the better restaurants in dublin in terms of value for money

Pichet
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Have eaten many times, last being last week after about a nine month hiatus, levels of food and service still as high as ever, although quite early in the evening there was a great buzz in the dining room. Risotto and monkfish were fantastic, nice wine polished off a lovely meal and this restaurant shows no sign of slacking off with staff telling me they are pretty much booked up till christmas, good luck to them they deserve it, well run restaurant with the right attitude to customers coupled with fantastic food shows you can open a restaurant in the recession and see it thrive. well done!!

Salamanca
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Having dined here several times and been impressed, I got the feeling on my last visit recently that unfortunately standards are greatly slipping at was once a pleasure to dine in. Although the service was good if not great, the food was most disappointing and if I am honest uninspiring. It is not cheap and although the dining room is a nice place to eat, the tables at times can feel very cramped which when you add in barely average food, it does not help in having a memorable experience, wine was great though I will add and service are attentive. Just hope that this restaurant starts to invoke the buzz it had over the last few years as the competition out there at this level is quite strong and it would be a sad thing if this restaurant were to fall away!!

ely winebar
22 Ely Place, (Just off St. Stephen’s Green), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Recently dined here during the week, very friendly staff seated us in appealing dining room on ground floor, excellent wine and wide range on the menu, eventually settled on the early bird which was great value, the pate to start was fantastic and the steak was nicely cooked and very enjoyable. Restaurant really started to fill up and made for a good buzz in the restaurant but especially downstairs in the wine bar. Very attentive and friendly staff, great value and good atmosphere as well as food contributed to an extremely enjoyable night, would definitely come back to Ely again with friends for food or to the wine bar itself, no complaints at all, keep it up!!

Wrights Anglers Rest
Strawberry Beds, West Dublin, Dublin 20, Chapelizod, Dublin

Ate here after golf one evening, had the intention of just a pint and some bar food however upon entering we were treated to more of restaurant experience. Fantastic setting both inside and out and also the bar, chicken wings and calamari were very good to start and so were the mains, we had a slight problem with one of the main courses however this was dealt with exceptionally well by the manager which added to the charm of the place. Log fire burning while we ate and chatted, some nice wine and pints added this to be a little gem of a place and a very enjoyable evening

Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

Having eaten in here one evening when the restaurant had just opened and no one else was dining, I was a bit trepidatious however when we were seated upstairs in a cool smoking area and received our first servings of tapas, I had a feeling it was going to be a good evening. Returned with friends a week or two later, asked to be seated upstiars again and we were accomodated straight away, very nice rioja to get the evning going and then the food flowed, wonderful patatas bravas both fiery and garlc, prawns, calamari and scallops were fantastic while the mini fois gras burger was a delight. Fantastic service, atmosphere and even the bathrooms are quirky contributed to a fantastic night, could not fault this place at all, very reasonable too!!!

The Bull & Castle and F.X. Buckley Steakhouse
5-7 Lord Edward Street, Christchurch, Dublin 8, City Centre South, Dublin

Regularly eat and drink in here however over the years the standards have yet to drop. Whether it be lunch or dinner, the bar or restaurant food is fantastic. Good Irish ingredients and excellent beer supplemented with great staff and management on the whole. Would highly recommend for a beer and burger or a night out with friends for a steak dinner

Alfies
10 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Shocking food and service, especially management. No customer nous whatsoever, food was terrible returned as it was raw, (on table within 5 minutes of ordering) maintained it wasnt and did we want it back!! Never go near this place again, owner eventually reluctantly and rather disingenuously apologised three days later but said manager was in trianing and what did we want, things happen! Keep your money and go somewhere else with better food, service and atmosphere.
