We availed of the Sunday lunch special - €15.95 for 3 courses, which in itself is phenomenal value, but when you consider the quality of the food, and the overall dining experience it's exceptional value! Between us we consumed onion bhaji's and chili chicken for starters, prawns and chicken for mains, with spinach/potatoe, rice and corander naan on the side. They have a great range of wines by the glass, including a nice NZ Sauvignon Blanc. We couldn't believe the restaurant was so empty ( we were the only diners in the place) especially considering the location and the price. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The Box Tree
Stepaside Village, South Dublin, Stepaside, Dublin

had one of the best meals ever here on Saturday.Couldn't fault one thing from the 3 courses both myself and hubby had.All food presented as good as you will see, tasty perfectly cooked.Lovely cod main and probably the best berry crumble ever with real home-made vanilla.Went for the early bird €29 for 3.Think it may be bit cheaper during the week

The Park Bistro
Fenbyrne House,, Castlepark, Arklow, Wicklow

Had a super meal with my husband and 2 kids, free kids on a Sunday swayed us.The food was faultless, the mains of cod and monkfish tails were super, the monkfish was the star of the show for sure, best fish dish I've had in years.Few small niggles, staff a little slow and location not great bit I'm being picky.I will definitely be back soon.

Ashford Oriental
Main Street , Ashford , Ashford, Wicklow

trying to figure out all the great reviews here, something doesn't add up,went on a deal and I have to honestly say it was the worst meal myself and my husband have had in years, tasteless dry food, flavourless sauce etc, service was terrible also, looking through some reviews the amount of first timers is a bit suspect imo, won't be back,no way

Guinea Pig
17 Railway Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

OMG - what an experience. My husband and I availed of the Celebration menu and the whole experience was absolutely faultless. We had chowder and smokies for starters, sorbet, then mixed fish grill for him and salmon for me and we could barely fit in our chocolate gateau desserts. All this for €60 - it was fantastic value for money and all the food was superb. The restaurant was packed yet the service was fantastic. The chef himself came out at the end to talk to all the guests, a really nice touch and I believe he has been doing this for years. This is a really special dining experience and its very affordable on the current special menu. Definitely worth a visit. We can't wait to go back.

Knights Bar @ Clontarf Castle
Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin

ate here with some work colleagues. The food is good but a bit on the pricey side for lunch. It was pretty busy the day we were there and it was difficult enough getting the waitresses attention. But I have eaten in the Castle many times and the food is generally of a very good quality so I will keep coming back.

Russos
18 Dame Street,, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here with my husband and 2 children and it was an ok experience. We availed of the early bird - I had bruschetta and the salmon and my husband had the prawns and lasagne. He was happy with his meal but I felt the salmon dish was lacklustre and the salmon was slightly overcooked. The children's menu is good and they were happy with their pizzas. Initially we were warmly greeted but felt we had to demand attention the rest of the time. I wouldn't be in a rush back.

The Fern House Cafe at Avoca Kilmacanogue
Avoca, Kilmacanogue, Wicklow

Ate here with my hubbie last night and was really looking forward to it as so many friends had recommended it. Overall it was a great experience. The food was gorgeous, I had the salmon and beetroot and my hubbie had the vension cannelloni. Sea Bass and Monkfish for mains. Both were fab. We were far too stuffed for dessert but there were lots of tempting treats on offer. I had a lovely couple of glasses of Organic Sauvignon Blanc. Its a little pricier than the norm but definitely worth it. My only complaint was the chairs were very uncomfortable. We had asked to be switched to 2 different tables which looked more comfortable but were told those particular tables were reserved. Will remember that for the next time!

Casa Pasta (Clontarf)
55 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

I ate here with friends from work and we all availed of the €10 lunch menu which is fantastic value - appetizer and main. The starters are small enough so its manageable when on lunch. We had bruschetta, brie and the soup, all good. For mains we had lasagne and pizza with 2 toppings. All good. One of the girls had ordered a salad as an extra and they didn't charge anything additional which was a nice touch. There was only one other table occupied at lunchtime, such a shame given its a good lunchtime otion

Restaurant Ten Fourteen
324 Clontarf Road, Clontarf, Dublin

Have eaten here a good few times with friends from work, always at lunch time. It is always full so they are obviously doing something right. The food is good quality and tasty. My only compliant is that it could serve more sandwiches and salads at lunchtime as the only real option is mail courses. I had the chicken burger with gorgeous chunky chips and my two friends had the lasagne which they said was very good .Reasonably priced. Service can be a little slow at times and sometimes its a rush to get back to work on time. However overall a good experience.

Kinara Restaurant
318 Clontarf Road, North Co. Dublin , Clontarf, Dublin

Have eaten here many times with friends after work. The early bird is fantastic value and I love that they vary the menu. The food is so authentic and the flavours are fantastic. Its not like your typical indian and I think most would be surprised. They also have a great selection of wine by the glass, the Glazebrook Newzealand Sauvignon Blanc is to die for. If you live locally and haven't ever been then you should visit. Couldn't fault it at all.

My Thai
The Beacon Hotel, Beacon Court, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin

Ate here for the first time recently with some friends. We availed of the early bird which was great value particularly considering you can order anything off the menu. The service was excellent, we were all going to order the combination platter for starters but the waitress advised thats a lot of food and she suggested 2 platters and a different starter. Glad we went with her suggestion as the platters were huge - definitely worth trying out though, the selection and size was great, the beef dish was to die for. All our mains were great and they have a great selection of wine by the glass which I always love. Only complaint was it was pretty empty - only two other tables full - so a bit lacking in atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

The Harbour Master Restaurant & Bar
Custom House Dock, I.F.S.C Dublin 1, IFSC, Dublin

We had our company christmas party here and had an excellent meal at a great price. We were seated in the restaurant part so we could see how busy the kitchen was all night bringing food out to customers in the bar as well as catering for our party of almost 100. The service was really efficient and the food of very good quality/standard. I had the caeser salad to start, then the salmon which was cooked to perfection and then baileys cheesecake for dessert. A really good meal and a great night.

Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow

We ate here on a voucher and brought our 2 kids with us. The voucher gave the adults 4 course each and that was good value. However we felt the kids menu was way too expensive and even though our kids had 2 courses, a mineral each and we had one glass of wine each we still ended up paying over €50 which took away all the good of the deal. I also feel like the restaurant still feels too much like a pub and it was a bit cold. We were sitting in a nice booth thankfully as I didn't like the look of the steel chairs. Now for the positives, the food was very good. We had prawns and crab cake to start, hake and steak for mains and chocolate biscuit cake for dessert. Looking at ordinary menu prices I feel it is overpriced. However if we got to avail of the early bird and they developed a cheaper kids menu then we would come back.

Wicklow Gaol Cafe
Kilmantin Hill, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Was here with a group of 11 year old boys for a birthday party. Some of the adults ate in the cafe while the kids were having their chicken goujons and chips. We had a variety of scones and cakes and various coffees. All of the food was excellent and not as over priced as some cafe's. The service was great and the staff couldn't do enough.

Nyonya Malaysian Restaurant
76 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We ate here with a voucher we had. Was looking forward to it but quite disappointed. We were seated right at the window so I had a lovely view of people walking up and down Dame Street, clear plastic rubbish bags out on the pavement and rubbish blowing everywhere in the wind. Enough to turn anyone off their food! We both got chicken satay for starters - meat not great, very fatty although I am assuming thats probably authentic in malaysia. We both went for malayasian curries. I had the gulai which was quite bland, all I could taste was overpowering cumin. It looked far nicer than it tasted. My hubbie had the Rendang which looked like chutney when it came out but it was really flavoursome and tasty. The noodles were fab. All in all a disappointing experience and I won't be back.

Il Primo
16 Montague Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Met a friend for dinner last night and we were just in time to avail of the pre theatre menu. We had 2 courses for €23 - not the best value around these days particularly when you consider its largely pasta or risotto. However the food was good - I had the beef strips to start and it was a really good dish. Had the mushroom risotto then, flavoursome but not out of this world. I like the fact that when you ask for parmesan its grated from the block - nice rustic touch. My friend had the crab lasagne and she said it was good. What made the experience stand out for me was the exceptional service. The waiter was very attentive but not intrusive. My friend couldn't choose between a couple of different red wines so he gave her a half glass of each. When my white wine was finished he gave me a complimentary top up. Nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn't dash back but if I was in the area again I would be more than happy to head back for another meal.

The Linden Tree @ Carton House
Maynooth, Co Kildare, Maynooth, Kildare

We were staying in the hotel and had a dinner included as part of our package. We had an absolutely amazing meal. The food was excellently presented and tasted superb. The waiting staff were very attentive. Its lacking a bit in atmosphere as its such a huge restaurant but we had a fab table by the window and didn't mind too much. Wish we lived closer so we could return more regularly. Definitely worth checking out.

Avenue Cafe & Restaurant
Main Street, Maynooth, Kildare

We were staying in Carton House for the weekend and decided to head out to Maynooth at the last minute. We were very lucky to get a table in the Avenue, it was literally packed to the rafters. We availed of the early bird and had a great meal. Service was good at the start but as it got busier it became more difficult to get attention of the waiting staff. The food was really good though but the portions are absolutely huge. I left half my main course as I literally couldn't finish it ( and I wanted to leave some room for dessert). If you are in the area you definitely should check out the Avenue.

The Happy Pear
Church Road, Greystones, Greystones, Wicklow

Had lunch here with my husband last week for the first time in ages. Its still as popular as I remember and the food is still excellent. We had gorgeous soup and two salads with rye bread for 6.50. This is a little gem of a place and definitely worth a visit for lunch.

The Bistro Enniskerry
Powerscourt Arms Country House, Enniskerry, Wicklow

We booked a table here at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised at the whole experience. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was really good. We chose from the table d'ote menu which was €23 for 3 courses - where else would you get value like that on a saturday night? We had caesar salad and prawns to start, then we both had the salmon for mains and baileys chocolate cheesecake and death by chocolate for dessert. They were rolling us out of the place. We headed into the bar afterwards for one drink and they had musical entertainment. Great way to spend a wet Saturday night. Thorougly recommended.

Synnott's Bistro @ The Parkview Hotel
Main Street, Newtown Mount Kennedy, Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow

We booked a private dining room here as it was my mothers 60th birthday and I couldn't fault the experience at all. The food was really good value for money and the waitress was really attentive. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble and we couldn't believe it when the bill arrived and it was only €205 for 7 adults ( 4 courses) and 4 kids plus some wine and beer. Excellent value for money considering the only charge for the private room was €2 a head. Definitely worth a visit.

La Dolce Vita - The Chase
Carmanhall Road, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin

My husband and I came here as we had picked up a voucher - 3 courses each and bottle of wine for €40. We were expecting a limited menu but were told we could have anything from the full menu. Hubbie had prawns, fillet steak with extra side order and apple and blueberry crumble for dessert. I had foccacia genovese, special dish of the day ( chicken) and banoffi. All of the food was amazing, the portions were so big I couldn't really eat the dessert. We were allowed to choose a different bottle of wine and were told we just had to pay the difference. When the bill came they said we didn't owe anything and they had given us the extras as a freebie!.Decor is fab and lovely feel to the place, staff and Manager all very pleasant. We noticed they had a very good kids menu for €6.95 including drink and they have an early bird. We will definitely go back, can't wait.

Via Veneto
58 Weafer Street, Enniscorthy, Wexford

We had a fabulous meal here with our two children. We were in time to avail of the early bird which was €16.50 for 2 courses with glass of house wine for €3.50, unbeatable value. We had prawns and bruschetta for starters, both were great. My hubbie had the fish special which was sea bass and oven roasted vegetables, cooked to perfection. The rest of us had pizza's and they were really good. Kids had ice cream which was good quality and we had banoffee and tiramisu. The former was excellent while I thought the tiramisu was a little "mushy" but definitely authentic. The restaurant was pretty busy as well, which for a Monday night, is a good sign. My only slight complaint is that the waitress got the pizza toppings mixed up other than that it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend it to other families or couples for a romantic meal out. We wish we were living closer so we could go back but if we are ever in Enniscorthy again we will definitely be making a reservation.

The Alamo Restaurant@ The Riverside Park Hotel
The Promenade, Enniscorthy, Wexford

We were staying in the hotel and had a meal for the adults included as part of the package. I can easily say this was one of the worst meals we have ever had. We had the mushrooms for starters which were clearly shop bought and totally tasteless. Fajitas were ok for mains but again not overly flavoursome. My hubbie had the surf n turf and the steak was ok but it only came with 3 miserable looking prawns. BBQ sauce was brought instead of the pepper sauce ordered. One of my children had ordered the pizza which was one of the value type pizza's you buy in one of the supermarkets, he wouldn't eat it. The kids ordered ice cream but we passed, not wanting to pay for any more sub standard food. The ice cream was full of ice and the kids wouldn't eat it. Total price was €94 which was extortionate for the quality of the food we received. Service was also pretty poor, while there was a lot of staff on, the restaurant was very busy and they clearly weren't able to cope. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here and the management have a lot to do to bring this restaurant back to the standards of a few years ago. A really awful experience.

Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

We brought the kids here as we hadn't been in years. It was great to see it was as good as we had remembered. The special value menu is really good value and the pizza's are still fantastic. Service was really good and we will definitely be back soon.

Shelby's Brasserie
73 Main Street, Bray, Wicklow

We were here for the first time with the full family for a special occasion but we weren't overly impressed by our experience. The early bird menu does offer good value but we didn't feel that the food was anything above standard fare. The staff weren't friendly towards the children in our group at all and seemed annoyed that they were a little boisterous. We were there early evening and there was only one other table occupied so we didn't see how it was an inconvenience. I don't think we will be back.

The Sally Noogin Inn
Sallynoggin Road, Sallynoggin, Dublin

I have to say i'm not a big fan of carvery it has to be said, however the experience i had was quite good. The food was about what you would expect,a bit dry, very generous portions and all well cooked and tasty. The service we thought was very good,in fact i've visited many very expensive restaurants in the area and they could learn a lesson or two from this pub. Would not put anyone off going here.

Lee's of Kilcoole (Old Owners)
Main Street, Kilcoole, Wicklow

I can't recommend this place enough, have eaten here about 5 times in the past month and i really have no negative comments. The food is really good, you can see that the chef cares about the quality and presentation of the food. What i can highly recommend is the steak sambo,so many pubs think they can just send out some overcooked rubbery steak but in Lee's it's excellent, comes with chips and a nice salas for €11. The value is excellent also, there is a special 'kids eat free on Sunday' deal, basically a kids meal comes free with every adult meal purchased. If you have 2 kids like we do it's perfect, cheaper than cooking a roast on a Sunday and hassle free. Noe to be honest the pub is ok,it's not too flash but it has a good atmosphere and i for 1 will be back for sure.

Horse & Hound (Dublin)
The Horse & Hound, Cabinteely, Cabinteely, Dublin

Havn't been to the H&H i years.I have to say i was quite impresed, the food has definitely improved. The service as always was excellent. I was just there for lunch, went for the home made burger, came with a nice salad and ok chips.(those skinny McD types) It was €10 which is good value for such a filling lunch.i would recommend it for sure, would have prefered nice chunky chips but the chips were fine just not to my taste.

The Hungry Monk
Church Road, Greystones, Greystones, Wicklow

We hadn't been to the Cafe Bar for ages but we were pleased to discover it still lives up to an excellent standard. The menu has some welcome changes and we couldn't fault anything we had. I ordered the cod and chips and the portion was huge, my husband ended up finishing it after his burger! The place was full as usual and the atmosphere was good. The service was very good too. I noticed they had a special christmas menu advertised on the window as we left, it looked like very good value for money. Can't wait to sample it. We won't leave it so long this time before heading back.

Victoria Asian Cuisine
5A The Cresent, South Co. Dublin , Monkstown, Dublin

I was here with a big party ( about 30 of us) to celebrate my cousin's forthcoming nuptials. It was a perfect place for such an event, the karaoke made the night! We had such fun. It was buffet "all you can eat" for €25 but I was suitably unimpressed with the food. We didn't get to pick anything, there was just a sample of things brought out, great if you can eat everything, but not so great if you don't eat meat. To be fair, when I asked for a vegetarian option they brought me out fish cakes to start and vegetable schezuen for main. However it didn't represent good value for money as thats all I could eat whereas everyone else had plenty to choose from. There also was no dessert or tea/coffee included. This is a good place to go for a laugh but I wouldn't go there for the food.

Pattaya Thai
Johnstown Road, Cabinteely, Cabinteely, Dublin

We have eaten here several times on Sunday with our two kids and I cannot fault the place. The food is fantastic, service is efficient without being intrusive and the price is incredible, it really is such good value for money. Our youngest never eats much and they never charge for his food. I can't understand why it isn't packed out every Sunday. The staff are very good with kids and its a great place to bring children. This is definitely our favourite Thai restaurant and we will keep going back.

Three Qs
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

My husband, brother in law and I visited 3Q for the first time last week and we were really impressed. I had heard loads of good things about this restaurant and it totally lived up to my expectations. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and very flavoursome. There is a good selection on the menu. The brioche mushrooms and chocolate fondant in particular stood out. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the restaurant was full, with a really good atmosphere. They are offering very good value at the moment with their two course menu and the desserts are reasonably priced too. They also have a good selection of wine by the glass. We ate at Gordon Ramseys restaurant recently and I have to say the standard in 3Q is not very far removed at all. We can't wait to go back here.

Mao Restaurant (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

My husband and I ate here on Friday night and the food was fabulous. They are offering a great value 3 course menu. My husband didn't like his main which was prawns, he felt it was bit bland but I had the special Yellow Chicken Curry which was superb and everything else we had was excellent. The service was attentive without being in your face. The place was buzzing and fairly busy. Not where you would come for a romantic meal for two but great for livlier occasions. We will definitely be back.

Campo de' Fiori Bistro Market
1 Albert Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow

We ate here for the first time on Saturday last and really enjoyed it. The place was so busy, it was packed and buzzing. We were seated in a nice cosy corner, my only complaint was the hard wooden chairs, not the most comfortable to sit on. There is a huge selection on the menu to choose from, we couldn't make up our minds! In the end I had the crostini misti and chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese and my hubby had bruschetta and fillet steak. All the food was gorgeous but portions are pretty big so we were very full leaving the place! The service is perfect, not intrusive but there when you needed it. It was reasonably priced too. Lovely authentic Italian feel to the place, a real little gem. We will definitely be back.

Frankies Italian Bar and Grill
42 Temple Bar Square, Temple Bar, Dublin

We ate here recently before attending a gig in the Olympia. We were only looking for a main and a drink so didn't opt for the early bird even though that was better value. I found the menu quite restrictive and ended up ordering the lasagne. I figured you can't go wrong with such a staple but I was disappointed when it arrived, it was bland and didn't have any real flavour at all. My husband chose the Rib Eye, the steak was nice but the sauce was terrible, over salted and oiley, it was inedible. We had one main and one side each and shared a bottle of wine and the bill was almost €80. Very expensive in my book considering the poor quality. The service was efficient though and there was a good atmosphere in the place, however, I won't be heading back.
