We love this restaurant...This was our fourth visit to La Rochelle. Three times for dinner and once for lunch. Each visit was a totally enjoyable experience and we were never once disappointed with either the quality of food, service or indeed value. You feel relaxed from the beginning as there is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, with a continental type buzz from the moment you step through the door. Granted the three dinner occasions have all been at weekends so I can't say if this is the same during the week though I suspect it may well be. The menu is varied and not too expensive and the staff are very friendly and quite efficient. On one occasion we had the Steak Diane Flambe which was prepared right beside our table which was a lovely bonus. The steak was excellent too :-) The lunchtime menu was different from the dinner menu which was to be expected, and although we didn't find it to be of quite the same high standard, it still represented lovely generous portions of good food at a very reasonable price. I think La Rochelle is well worth a visit and would be surprised if you don't enjoy the experience.

We made our second visit to this restaurant in early February. Once again we enjoyed a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We found it to be a little more expensive than other chinese restaurants but the quality of the food more than compensates for this. I had also been with a group of girl friends on two other occasions and again everyone was very happy with their respective meals and the standard of service provided. We will definitely be visiting again.

Christie's
38 Main Street, Arklow, Arklow, Wicklow

Myself and my partner visited Christies for food for the first time for what was supposed to be a quiet meal with another couple. As it turned out we met up with 3 other friends who joined us for dinner. I was surprised by the amount of choice on their menu and the value which seemed available too. We all decided to skip starters as it was quite late in the evening and went straight to the main courses. I chose the black pepper chicken goujons with chips and side salad which was delicious. My partner opted for the chicken burger, while the others had a mix of lasagne, Christy burgers and steaks. Everyone was very happy with their meals and we finished off with some delicious desserts, we opted for the cheesecake which was excellent. It was quite late by the time we ordered our food and the waitress was very patient and friendly. All in all I was very happy with the quality of food, the value for money and the atmosphere and service. I will definitely return and will most probably try their special value menu with wine which I;ve seen advertised/

Bates Restaurant
Main Street, Rathdrum, Rathdrum, Wicklow

I had originally booked for Sunday night as a birthday treat for my other half.I was keen to try this restaurant as I had heard a few good reviews about it and had read the good reviews it was getting on menu pages too. On the day we decided to change it to Lunch instead and we were more than delighted with our choice. Bates Restaurant is a lovely, cosy little restaurant which oozes charm and atmosphere. Their set menu offered terrific value and choice at just €22.50 each for three courses. Himself opted for Baked Asparagus for starters, followed by the Pork Escalopes, I chose the Buffallo Mozzerella & Vine Tomato starter followed by the Rib Eye Beef ,with chunky chips and peppercorn sauce. We both opted for the warm chocolate pudding with hazelnut ice cream which was well worth the 15 minute wait.As it was a special celebration we had some very nice wine to accompany our gorgeous food. We found the staff to be very friendly and efficient and very patient as we were quite late finishing our lunch. Without a doubt this is one of the nicest restaurants we have visited for some time. It is great to see such quality and value available right on your own doorstep. This was definitely the first of many visits to Bates.

Bullys Restaurant - CLOSED
40 Paul Street Cork, Cork City, Cork

Having walked around Cork looking for a nice Italian Restaurant we finally came across Bullys Rest on Paul St. It was getting quite late and we were unsure if they would still be serving. We checked and were told that the kitchen would be open for another ten minutes. Although a little apprehensive that we would be rushed through our meal we decided to go ahead and order. Very bad decision, we felt rushed from the minute we sat down.It would have been better for them to have told us when we enquired that they were finished serving than to have accepted our custom and then make us feel like an inconvenience. The food when it arrived was bland and poorly presented. Having read the other reviews on this restaurant it appears we aren't the only ones to be disappointed with the quality of their food.
