Reviewed 01st January 2007 ( visited 01st January 2007 )MMMMMMM... tasty! I was in this restaurant last Friday, the starters were very tasty I have the chicken rolls and my partner had the vegetarian spring rolls, both very tasty! For our mains I had Chicken Green Curry, which was about medium hot and very tasty, my partner had the Beef with Chillies and Thai Herbs this was meant to be very hot but was less hot than the green curry! A slight let down but still tasty. Service was good & we were promptly shown to our seats on arrival.

Had lunch here today with work and the food was so delicious! Had the Prawns & Garlic which came with steamed rice, definitely would recommend this place!

I've been to India a number of times and this place is the closest I've gotten to the authentic Indian taste :)
Mao Restaurant (Chatham Row)
2-3 Chatham Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Great lunch menu. Plenty of choice and the staff are very attentive while ensuring you're not delayed during your lunch hour. Chicken Satay was a tasty starter, while the Chilli Chicken Ramen was just nice, not too filling or spicy.
Taste Food Company
South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Great place to go for lunch, BLT is delicious and well served. I tired the chicken melt previously which wasn't anything amazing. But value is great for what you get, especially when you can pay the same price for something thrown together in any of the sandwich bars...
Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Was here for a work party. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. For starters I had the Tomato & Aubergine Bruschette for my starter, this was tasty. Our table did tasters of each others dish, one of the other starters was the Gratinated Scallops and Crayfish tails, this was delicious! I will order this as a starter next time I am here. Also, hot on it's heals for a starters is the Brie Aux Filo, again delicious. For the main course most people & myself had the Pan-seared Loin of Venison with fois gras, fondant potato and pomegranete jus, this was absolutely delicious, first time I had tasted this dish and I was not dissappointed! The desserts were tasty also but I opted for the Raspberry Meringue with Pistachio, only thing with this was there was a lot more Pistachio than Meringue. Overall a great night was had and delicious food eaten. :)
Hedigans The Brian Boru
5 Prospect Road, Glasnevin, Dublin
Visited this place on a whim and was not disappointed. For some Sunday lunch with some girlfriends there was good food and good banter to be had. This place has a good and comfortable beer garden. I had the easy lunch option of The Viking Beef Burger. It was tasty and came topped with Mozzarella, Fresh Salsa and had a side of tasty handcut Chips. The burger and its toppings were juicy and tasty. The drink was good and the service was great. Our designated waiter was excellent and provided great banter for the duration of our stay. Can't really fault the place.
Restaurant Merlot @ Westport Plaza Hotel
Castlebar Street, Westport, Mayo
Went here with a large group of 23, I cannot fault this restaurant. Service was impeccable, food was fabulous and the atmosphere was relaxing with a bit of a buzz. For my starter I had the Leek & Potato soup, which as a starter you can't go wrong with was perfect. For my main course I had the Lamb which is described as "New Season Rump Of Lamb, Roast Parsnip Puree, Puy Lentil Stew And Confit Garlic Dressed In Its Own Jus" and it does exactly as it says on the tin and was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Westport.
Mangos Seafood Restaurant
Bridge Street, Westport, Mayo
Was at this restaurant recently with a group of 23 women which pretty much took up the entire restaurant. The decor was cosy and the atmosphere was lovely. Service was ok, it would have been great if there hadn't been one waiter with zero patience towards anyone, the other waiters were excellent. Food was great though, for my starters I had the Cajun Spiced Prawns which were delicious. For my mains I had the Spicy Cajun Chicken which again was just right. Overall it was a good experience.
Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin
Came to this restaurant with my sister on a Saturday for the 3 course early bird menu. It was great value and had a good variety of choice for an early bird menu. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was prompt. For my starter I had the Homemade Guacamole which had a lovely zingy taste to it. For my mains Chicken Fajitas which were just right and the dessert was Tequila And Lime Cheesecake which was different but tasty. All in all a good experience.
Captain America's Blanchardstown
Unit 40 Blanchardstown, Retail Park 2 Extension Dublin, West Dublin, Blanchardstown, Dublin
Went here for a girly night out for four of us. There was no option for booking a table so had to turn up and hope we wouldn't have to wait too long, but alas we turned up and had to wait 80mins for a seat even though every time we checked there were always tables with four seats available. :S Food was greasy and the starters pretty much killed our appetite for a mains, I had the potato skins with ham and cheese, I couldn't even finish this. Mains arrived, I ordered the fish and what I did have of it was greasy and tasteless. Service was mixed, the waiting area had ridiculous waiting times to get a drink at the bar and as someone said previously it did resemble a childrens play-pen. The only saving grace for this place was that our designated server was very pleasant. One other item was that after spending a lot of money in this place you still had to pay to get into the music venue upstairs.
Wongs of Castleknock
Ashleigh Centre, Main Street, Dublin 15, Castleknock, Dublin
Attended Wongs on our anniversary on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant have a 4-course meal deal which we availed of. Starters we shared the meat sung which was minced pork and was delicious with enough for sharing. My main course was Beef with Black Bean sauce and was tasty. My dessert was the Profiterole option which was good. Service was ok but could have been better for a slack Tuesday evening. Staff only attending to you when they are delivering or taking away your dishes. Overall we had a good experience.
Tribes Coffee Shop
8 Tuckey Street, Cork City, Cork
Went here for lunch with some friends on a Saturday. Loved the decor and the atmosphere, definitely unique! Food was lovely, between myself and friends it was delish. Chicken goujons were tasty and came with lovely baby gem lettuce and salad dressing. Vegetable soup was tasty with a definite turnip flavour to it and the hot chocolate was just perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Service was ok, where as unlike most of the other restaurants you had to order at the till instead of being waited on, which was a bit of a surprise considering the price of food. Cost-wise it was a bit over-priced with a hot chocolate at €3.30 and chicken goujons at €10.90. There was a lunch deal but it had only one option of soup and half a sandwich at €6.95 which is ok if that is literally what you want before you get there.
Bullys Restaurant - CLOSED
40 Paul Street Cork, Cork City, Cork
Dined here with some friends on a Friday evening. After initial confusion as to its location we realized it is now located upstairs and not the burger bar that takes up its old locations. On entering staff were lounging at the bar area and just told us to pick any seat, which to start with I thought showed lack of attentiveness for a restaurant that only had one other customer on our arrival at 9pm(ish). I had a starter of Crostini Ai Pomodoro which was a generous portion and delicious, no faults with this. For my main course I had the Lasagne, the bechamel sauce was tasty but there was a lack of tomato based sauce or meat for that matter, with excessive amounts of pasta layers. So not happy with the mains. For my dessert I had the lemon cheesecake which was again a generous portion and tasty. Service was lacking from the start and during our meal we only saw our servers on delivering our dishes and taking away our dishes, with no-one checking how our meal was or if we needed anything additional. I had been to this restaurant several times during my visits to Cork but unfortunately I will not be returning.
2-5 Winthrop Lane, Winthrop Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork
Visited this restaurant with some friends, waited about 15mins for a seat without making a reservation so not too bad for a Saturday night. For starters I had the Bruschetta which came in a very generous portion, this was tasty indeed. For my mains I went for the burger option, I got the Creole burger with Red Pepper puree and sautéed red onions, with a side of fries. The toppings were tasty but the burger was dry and not at all juicy taking away from the delicious toppings. Dessert was the Baileys and Malteaser cheesecake, this was tasty and again a very generous portion. Service was just ok, staff could've have smiled more and not seemed like we were an inconvenience or just rushing to take our orders. Understandably it was busy but that doesn't mean service for existing customers should the lacking. No staff checked to see if we were happy with our food while we were dining and we had to take a bottle of water from a nearby table as our server pretty much did not attend to us unless it was to give the food or to take away our dishes.
Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Varied experiences in this restaurant! The first time I had to wait nearly an hour for a table, as they don't allow bookings, so after long last I order the fillet steak medium-well done so I wasn't happy to find bloody juice coming out of it and then to have the staff rudely tell me how the chef thinks it should be cooked! Second time/second chance, we arrived on a slack night only to be placed at a dirty table with freezing cold air-con over us! Not happy at all!

Captain America's Cookhouse And Bar
44 Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
American diner food as it should be! Chicken enchiladas were tasty, so was the Lasagne and the burgers are just as a burger should taste, TASTY! Food portions are very filling, especially the starters so be careful what you order or you'll be busting at the seams before you start your main course! Overall the service was fast and friendly, food was tasty and the cocktails yummy! A definite must for dining with friends or family!
Newlands Cross, Naas Road, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin
About average restaurant, it is a lot like pub grub in a snazzier setting! Nothing too exciting on the menu. I'm sure if you live nearby it would be nice to go to but when you have so many restaurants in and around the city centre serving the same type food there's not much reason to visit but for a change of scenery!
Hard Rock Cafe
12 Fleet Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Will not be going back here again! I went to this restaurant midweek so I expected it to be fairly relaxed, and the place wasn't even full. The big problem here was the service, it's nice to have your food delivered to your table promptly but not before you're finished the previous course! Myself and a few friends had ordered our food and our starters arrived very promptly, we weren't even finished that and they were trying to take it away to give us our main course! AND the same thing happened with the dessert! A rushed dinner is not a happy dinner no matter how nice the food is!
The Mandarin Castle
Unit 10 Castleknock Village Centre, West Dublin, Castleknock, Dublin
This restaurant is a must! I have gone several times now and enjoy it just as much each time! The staff are really friendly and the food is delish. Some of the dishes I enjoy are: Chicken Chow Mein, Fillet of Beef with Green Pepper & Black Bean Sauce, Chicken Satay, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Chicken Triangles. All of these dishes are yummy and the portions are very filling :)
