Reviewed 04th September 2010 ( visited 08th August 2010 )On a recent visit to Kilkenny we dined at this restaurant and it was fab !!!!! Doesn't look much from the outside but is really nice when you get in. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We had our 6 year old with us and she got pasta which she devoured - licked the plate !!!The menu was very extensive and the early bird was great value. I had linguni gamberi and it was delicious. Overall a really pleasant experience - would recommend it highly and will visit again.

Went here last night with a group of friends for a girls night out - first impressions were good as the place was buzzing - but it was down hill from there. We had booked a table in advance but the seating was far from ideal with one of us havin to sit at the end of the table in the path of busy waiting staff. The staff were pleasant and tried to explain the badly laid out menu to us but it was hard to pick a dish. They don't do chips and white rice is by request only. Meals arrive as they are ready so we were all eating at different times which i didn't like at all. Food was only average. Drinks selection is limited also. Overall very disappointing, i wouldn't recommend it and i won't be returning - ever !!
The Linden Tree @ Carton House
Maynooth, Co Kildare, Maynooth, Kildare
Just returned from an overnight stay at the Carton House which included a meal in the Linden Tree . It was easily the nicest meal we have had in a very long time !! The starters were beautiful,my husband had pidgeon for the first time and it was really nice and I had scallops served with crispy pork belly - delicious !! For main course he had beef served with carrots and chestnuts and I had turkey and ham with sprouts both were amazing. I never tasted turkey and ham like it in my life it was fab !!!! The restaurant was busy but it didn't have any effect on the service which was friendly and very efficient. I would highly recommend this place even if you don't stay in the hotel you must try it !!
Casa Pasta (Clontarf)
55 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin
First impression of this place was that it wasn't very busy for the Friday before xmas ! Myself and some girlfriends were having our xmas night and had high hopes for this restaurant. We were disappointed. After deciding what to order from the set menu we were told that the fillet steak was unavailable - four of the group wanted steak ! We all had to choose another dish and I went for the salmon which wasn't good, it was bland and the new potatoes were reheated. My friends had pasta, sirlon and thai curry none of it was up to much. Service was slow considering it wasn't busy and we had to remind the waitress that we had asked for more wine. Desserts weren't much better. Overall not a good dining experience and I wouldn't reccommend this restaurant.
Drumcondra, Drumcondra, Dublin
Have eaten here many times and it always hits the spot. Good selection of dishes to suit all tastes. I favour the fillet steak which is delicious but have also had chow mein, stir fry and several other dishes all of which are huge portions !! The pate starter is also really tasty. The staff here are always friendly and the service is very efficient . It is a bit expensive for pub grub but I feel it's worth it because of the quality of the food. Overall a great spot for a drink and a bite to eat.
The Brasserie @ Leopardstown
Bewley's Hotel Leopardstown, Central Park , Leopardstown, Dublin
Not very impressed with the food here - had breakfast, was luke warm and just not very appetising. Staff were nice though so not all bad.
Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin
Went here for a friends 40th on Sat night. None of the group of 12 people had been before so we weren't sure what to expect. It looks tiny from the outside but once inside it's really quite big. Very traditional decor which I liked - all sorts of stuff hanging around the walls etc. We were there for the hooley night and it was packed when we got there at 7.30. Having said that the staff were very friendly and efficient and we were served our starters in no time. Most of the menu is seafood so if your not a fan the choice is limited. All the starters were delicious and there were no complaints. The main courses also were delicious - I had the house dish mahi mahi diablo and it was fab !!!!! Band and Irish dancers were brilliant and the atmosphere was great. Overall a really good night and would highly recommend it to friends.

On a recent visit to kiikenny we found ourselves outside this chinese restaurant - from the outside it didn,t look much but a queue of people made us give it a try. It was very busy with several large groups but we still got service very promptly from a friendly staff member. The decor was a little bit worse for wear but no big deal. I ordered the sizzling fillet steak in black pepper sauce (bit dear at 26 euro !) but OMG it was fab !!! Other dishes on the menu were much less expensive and there was a good selection. We did notice a lot of the local people eating dining which I think is a good sign. Overall a luvly night.
Ripleys Steak House
Butterslip Lane (off Kieran St), Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
Nice restaurant - quite busy when we were there but still the staff were prompt and friendly. Very vast and varied menu(maybe a bit too varied) and a good kids menu. We had platter starter and steak and prawn fajitas for main course which were very tasty. My only problem with this place were the prices - too expensive for what we got. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience but a bit pricey !!
Kaynes Bar & Bistro
Muckross Road, Killarney, Killarney, Kerry
We ate hear twice as we were staying at Randals hotel next door. It 's very high quality pub grub and great value. The staff were very pleasant and served us food when we arrived in late after a day at the races and the food had just finished. Great choice on the menu and a good kids menu. Very busy location with both locals and visitors enjoying the buzz in the place. Would go there again.

4 St Aidans Park Road, Marino, Dublin
Have been to Brams on numerous occasions and would recommend it for breakfast or lunch. Staff are very friendly and service is always prompt. What I like about it most is everything is cooked fresh and the food is delicious. Can be quite a high level of noise due to the volume of people but that in itself is an indication of how popular it is !!

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Went last night for my birthday and really enjoyed this restauraunt. Despite there being a large crowd of pre - theatre diners we received prompt and very friendly service. Food was delicious - had pate and prawns starter and fillet steak mains which was cooked exactly to our liking (well done for me and medium for my husband) homemade chips were really nice and the bernaise sauce was fab. We had german beer which was a first for us but was nice to try something new. A little on the expensive side but was worth it. Overall a really enjoyable experience , would recommend to friends and will return very soon !!!!
