This is a great place for coffee and cake - provided you can get a table. It's normally full. The lemon meringue is lovely.

A real taste of the country. 5 of us went there from work last night and it's the best meal out that we've had in a while. Recommend the prawns for starters, they are massive and the Rendang - Daging lembu it divine. I'll be looking for its recipe. One thing to note though, I had looked up the menu on this site prior to going there and the prices have really increased. The prawns were actually 11.50 which are pricey and the fish dishes were 26. Due to the price of the place would recommend it as a treat.

Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

It was a nice night out there, but the food and wine are on the expensive side to be considered good value. I had the rib eye steak and it was on the small side and just tasted fine. Nothing to rave about. I also had the smoked salmon as a starter and it was very cold - to the point that it was hard to get much flavor from the smoked salmon. I did have a lovely glass of rjoja wine, but at 10 per glass it would want to be lovely. It's a nice room, but it can be very loud and some of the tables are a bit close to each other, so it's a bit too easy to hear the conversation at the table beside you which can be annoying.

Crackbird
60 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Would agree with the last review. This is not a buggy friendly place. They told me that normally I would have to collapse the buggy, but as they were so quiet at the time it was ok. But this is not a great way to start the meal, like they were doing me a massive favour. I was the customer! I had the lunch meal which is ok value at 5.50 for a roll with chicken. The torpedo roll was really hard, crusty. You need good teeth to eat it! The chicken crispie things were nice though.

Noshington Cafe
1A Washington Street, City Centre South, Dublin

This is a wonderful cafe with a good choice of food. the falafel wrap is gorgeous. Their chilli is very good - it comes as a wrap and I've been there a couple of times when it's the special as well. They serve nice soft drinks - cold cans and lots of ice - the way that they should be served :) This is a gem of a place and it would be great if there was more places like this around.

Caffrey's of Batterstown
Batterstown, Dunboyne, Meath

Very expensive. In this day and age would expect some recession busting deals on a Monday evening. Have eaten here before and had a lovely meal. It's not a cheap place, but had excellent quality food here on previous occassions. Had a sirlion steak here on Monday night and it was fairly fatty/sinnuy. For that price would expect the best.

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had the Bangkok Street Food 3 Course Lunch here last week. Was not very impressed by it. The food was ok, but nothing great at all. Wouldn't have much desire to return back here. Service was good.

MacNean House & Restaurant
Main Street, Blacklion, Cavan

Best meal I've eaten in a very long time! This was such a wonderful experience right from the start all the way through to the end. 70 is a lot for dinner, but when you consider what you get, it is good value. Every attention to detail has been considered, right down to the beautiful delph at the table. The food is divine. And I cannot wait to get back there. I had the duck starter plate and the turbot main course and both were lovely. The tropical plate desert was great. Staff are very friendly and good.

Chez Hans
Cashel Co Tipperary, Cashel, Tipperary

Nice food and good service. Went here for the early bird - it's not cheap but it is very nice. I had the mussels for starter and the duck as the main. There was an awful lot of orange in the duck. Not to my personal taste, but was good. Lovely chocolate desert and little biscuits with coffee.

The Bistro @ Glenroyal Hotel
Straffan Road, Maynooth, Maynooth, Kildare

Very poor value for money. Provided us with very little vegetables and had to ask for more. Was not made to feel very welcome for doing that! Would not recommend this place to anyone and will not be back. Prices are too high.

The Pig's Ear
4 Nassau Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Great desserts! Had lunch here today. It's good value with 3 Courses €19.95. Had the starter of crab. Had the main course of the club sandwich. It's ok - one big complaint was that they didn't mention EGG on the menu for it. I don't like eggs. I've never had a club sandwich with egg, so it's not to be expected. However their desserts were great. I had the cheesecake and would go back for that. Also tasted the crumble which was very nice as well. Have been here for the early bird before, which had 3 choices for each course. The lunch has much wider choice.

Yamamori Noodles
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had a great meal here. Excellent value - 2 starters, 2 sushi rolls, 1 dessert and 1 bottle of wine for 66. Really nice food and felt very healthy too.

Havana Tapas Bar
Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here on Monday night with my friends. It's a great, cheerful place. I had the pinchos which were lovely and we had shared the starter plates. Lovely lemon cake there as well.

profile_review

Cafe Topolis
37 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This is one of the best value places in town for lunch. Come here regularly for the lunch special. Soup or Garlic bread, then pizza or pasta and then a coffee. Their minestrone soup is lovely and their pizzas are great. The only negative is that it's not the fastest with the service. But it is worth the wait!

La Dolce Vita (Kilmainham)
758/760 South Circular Road, South Dublin, Kilmainham, Dublin

Handy spot if you live in the area. It's nice to have somewhere local to go and not have to traipse into town. I had the fish of the day and it was fine. Nice bright venue, with lots of light.

profile_review

Bon Appetit
9 James Terrace, Malahide, Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

Went to the Cafe Brasserie recently and will not be heading back. Really poor service, I just couldn't believe that it was so bad. There was 3 people on the floor but they were all over the place. Each of them would wander over when we didn't need them and you couldn't find them when you did. The food was ok, but nothing amazing. The pear and cheese salad - the pear was hard as a rock, very unripe. The only great dish was my pavlova with passionfruit and mango sorbet. It was sublime. But my partner had the chocolate pudding and it was disgusting - it seemed like it had way too much baking soda in it - that sort of taste. I had a booking for the restaurant in 2 weeks and I cancelled it on the way out. Not a single comment from the person behind the counter!

Moran's Oyster Cottage

Excellent service here and will definetely go back. It's a lovely place to eat. We had the seafood special and a lovely pavola.

Wrights Anglers Rest
Strawberry Beds, West Dublin, Dublin 20, Chapelizod, Dublin

Ate there on Sunday evening. It’s been done up recently and looks really nice. Chose the seafood chowder for a starter and it was not a creamy seafood chowder. Nice brown bread was served with the chowder. It was ok but I wouldn’t recommend it again. I chose off the daily specials and had the monkmonk fish. It was very nice, not a big portion but perfect for me. Partner chose the fish cakes as a main course. 2 big fish cakes arrived looking very nice. There was nothing amazing about them. They do a monthly wine special which is a good idea, because it means that they can have a seasonal wine.

profile_review

Yamamori Sushi, Tengu
38-39 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Wonderful place for lunch. They do great lunch specials. The last day that I was here had the 'baby' sea bass and salad. Well, if that was a baby, it would need a very large plate to hold an adult sea bass. Great to see large portions. No hesitation in recommending this for lunch. Fast service as well.

Quay 16 Restaurant @ MV Cill Airne
MV Cill Airne, North Wall Quay, IFSC, Dublin

Some of the best service that I've seen in a long time. 10 of us ate there and all the food came out promptly and correctly. Staff were excellent throughout the whole meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal. One slight minus - their cocktails are ok, they could do with a bit more of a kick!

profile_review

The Market Bar
Fade Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Nice place with reasonable food. Great for a crowd, would not recommend this for a romantic meal for 2. It's a busy, bustling place with a good atmosphere. A lot of the tables are reserved in advance, so bear this in mind if there is a crowd of you going. The meatballs are very popular, with good reason!

profile_review

Maloti
34-35 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Was here for lunch last week. They do a great value lunch menu. Approx 8 euro for main course and starter. That price is hard to beat. The service was very fast, which is great for lunch. The food is reasonable.

profile_review

Montys of Kathmandu
28 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We ate here last night. It was my first visit there, but it's definitely not the last. This is now my favorite Nepalese/Indian restaurant. The food is so flavoursome and is the perfect portion size. Ate enough, but don't feel too full at the end of the meal. Saw lots of other peoples dishes come out and now have a long list of other things to try the next times I go back. I had the monkfish which was really nice. The tandoori prawns looked great as well. Lovely wine as well. They do a monthly special so last night it was a nice riesling.

profile_review

Wagamama - Stephen's Green
St Stephen's Green Centre, South King St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This is one of the best, most reliable restaurants in Dublin. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. It has something to suit everyone. The one minus (that only applies to nights when I'm tired) is the benches. When I'm tired I like to sit back in a chair. Can't recommend this place enough.

profile_review

The Pillar House
Society Street, Ballinasloe, Galway

This does a great breakfast in the morning. The small breakfast is even large. The 'big' breakfast has more variety, it also includes beans and mushrooms. This place has the best breakfast in Ballinasloe.

profile_review

The Cellar Restaurant
The Merrion Hotel, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had a wonderful lunch here. The fish and chips are devine. I'm not normally one to have fish and chips in a restaurant. They normally tend to be boring, but had been told that they were great, so decided to follow the recommendations. They were so worth it. The service was great at the start, then it seemed to be more devoted to a large group. That is the only minus mark out of the whole visit. Will be going back there.

profile_review

Barberstown Castle
Straffan, Straffan, Kildare

Ate in the 'tea rooms'. When I looked at the menu it looked great. Great selection and the open sandwiches read really nice. However, we ordered 2, the beef and the salmon. Nothing to write home about at all. Very dear and not very nice. Will not be going back based on my experience here.

profile_review

The County Club
Dunshaughlin, Dunshaughlin, Meath

Great selection of food and very child friendly place. Great for a family get together. Fast and efficient service.

profile_review

The Meridian Restaurant
The Westwood Hotel, Dangan, Upper Newcastle, Newcastle, Galway

Ate here last week. They have lovely deserts. The baileys cheesecake was lovely. They also had lovely apple crumble. The rest of the food was fine, moderate. The service however was not the best - a bit slow. The food arrived fast, but slow waiting for wine etc.

profile_review

The Oyster Grill Restaurant
Hotel Meyrick, Eyre Square, Galway City, Galway

Stayed here last week and the breakfast was lovely. They had a great selection of food, including hot fish on order. Will go there for dinner then next time I'm down.

profile_review

Newgrange Hotel
Bridge Street, Navan, Meath

Give this place a miss. I'll not be going back here. Got very poor service and cold food here.

profile_review

Zucchini's Restaurant
18-20 Blackcastle Square, Navan, Meath

Was here with my family on Saturday night - 7 of us. And 7 very happy diners left that night. It's great to go out for a group meal and have everyone really satisfied with their food. They have a great choice and a good selection of daily specials. It's not the cheapest, but it is really good food. I will be back. Keep up the good work!

profile_review

Knightsbrook Hotel
Dublin Road, Trim, Trim, Meath

Lovely hotel. Great place to pop in for a drink and decent bar food. Beautiful view from the back bar, it overlooks the golf course. Hard to beat on a nice summer's evening.

profile_review

Franzini's
Frenchs Lane, Trim, Meath

I was there last night and it's been the worst meal out in a long time. Their chicken wings were greasy and not spicy. I had the steak and it came out lukewarm, so I had to send it back. It was tough and the onion rings were greasy. I will not be going back here!

profile_review

Namaste India
88 North King Street, Smithfield, Dublin

This is the best Indian take away in Dublin. They only do take away. The (Aloo Patan) aubergine and potato is great - never saw it anywhere else, other places take note - add this to your menus. Also the Prawn Karahi and Chicken Hyderabadi are great choices. One downside - the naan bread isn't great, but the Chana Pilau (pilau rice with chickpeas) is great.

profile_review

Deasy's Harbour Bar & Seafood Restaurant
Ring Village, Clonakilty, Clonakilty, Cork

This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Just an imaginative menu. Nothing typical about this place. Ended up going here a couple of times. Lovely thai coconut fish soup. Faboulous homemade strawberry icecream - normally I don't like strawberry flavoured things, but this was made with real strawberries.

profile_review

An Sugan
41 Wolfe Tone Street, Clonakilty, Cork

Very tasty food here and excellent service. Bustling pub with great food. Also very central location. Can't wait to get back down to Clonakility to pop in here. Their desserts are very good - can recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the bread and butter pudding. The seafood basket is good as well - it comes in a sauce. I was worried that it might have been fried fish, so no need to have worried!

profile_review

Quigleys
Dunlo Street, Ballinasloe, Galway

I'm not a great fan of kebabs, but this place was nice. Very friendly service and nice food. Chicken kebab was nice.

profile_review

Tohers Restaurant & Bar
18 Dunlo Street, Ballinasloe, Galway

Excellent food here. Had beautiful beef as a main and a lovely orange chocolate cheesecake. I would never have chosen this cheesecake myself, but it was great.

profile_review

The Taste Of India
Oriental House, Society Street, Ballinasloe, Galway

Nice enough food and quick efficient service. Staff were very helpful.

profile_review

Donnelly's of Barna
Barna, Barna, Galway

Had a really horrible meal here on a Saturday lunch. Starters were the prawns. It was like they were fried in not hot enough butter. Really greasy and tasteless. I had the cod and salmon and it was ok. But the service was very poor. The staff kept opening the door to take off some sticker (vinters federation or something) and it was a freezing day. Surely they could have done this some other day.

profile_review

Lobster Pot Restaurant
Galway Bay Hotel, The Promenade, Salthill, Galway

Had a beautiful meal here overlooking the sea. The smoked salmon was lovely and I had duck as the main course. It fell off the bone and was so moist. So unusual to have such good duck. The service was excellent.

profile_review

McDonagh's Seafood House
22 Quay Street, Galway, Galway City, Galway

This is my favourite fish & chip shop. Such a variety of fish. And beautiful real potato chips. They've been excellent for years and hopefully for many more.

profile_review

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Tried out the 'early bird'/long lunch offer on Sunday. It was excellent. 5 of us have a great meal and there was no complaints from anyone. Will be going back here again. They have a wonderful choice of options in the early bird and it's excellent value for money.

profile_review

Queen of Tarts
4 Cork Hill Dame Street, City Centre South, Dublin

This is a great place for coffee and cake - provided you can get a table. It's normally full. The lemon meringue is lovely.

profile_review

Dunne And Crescenzi (South Frederick Street)
14-16 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I've heard about here, but only came here for the first time about 6 weeks ago. I've been here 4 times since. So that says it all! I love the spinach and salmon lasagne, it's a special, so it's not always on the menu. It's excellent value for money and seems to always do great food.

profile_review

Il Primo
16 Montague Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I ate here on Friday night and it was delicious. We both had the starter of sirloin and I would go back for that alone. I then had lovely duck risotto, which was good and not too rich or heavy. 2 complaints though - first is the bad table by the top of the stairs - we were initially seated there and the waitress saw my reaction and moved us fairly promptly. It's too cramped there. The 2nd issue was the bottled water. It wasn't cold. Bottled water (sparkling) should always come from the fridge. Another table had to ask for ice, so we were not the only people who got warm sparkling water.

profile_review

Milano (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Very slow service the day we were there for lunch, but nice pizzas. Milano's is always fairly reliable, same menu in all the restaurants, so you know what to expect.

Nonna Valentina
1-2 Portobello Road, Portobello, Dublin

Beautiful food, excellent service and a lovely room. It's great value for money with all the extras that you would expect from a great restaurant. I love to eat here, and look forward to each trip. Nearly always have the fish of the day or the pasta. And the panna cotta for desert is divine.

profile_review

Jaipur Restaurant (Dalkey)
21 Castle Street, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

Lovely food. Really recommend the Masahari thali. It's a bit on the dear side, but worth it for a treat.

profile_review

The Cake Cafe
62 Pleasants Place, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This is a gem of a place. Such a breath of fresh air - you really feel like you're on a proper break when you are here. Yummy food and a great selection of cakes. One of my favourite places to have lunch, I don't have to be asked twice.

profile_review

Elephant & Castle
18/19 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Great food and wings to die for. Was here last Wednesday and really enjoyed it. Was my first time there, but I will be back again quite soon - still dreaming of those chicken wings. Also the burgers are really good.

Can't wait to go back. Have been here for the lunch menu and it's just sublime. Not only is the food the best I've had, the service is exceptional - without being intrusive. If you get the opportunity to go here, make sure that you do.

L'Ecrivain Restaurant
109a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Brilliant restaurant. I took my sister and her new husband there when they came back from their honeymoon. We went there for lunch and loved it. Their 3 course lunch special is an excellent value way of sampling their food.
