Terra Madre Cafe restaurant
13A Bachelors Walk, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 1
Reviewed 07th September 2012 ( visited 06th September 2012 )How refreshing! A real Italian restaurant with Italian food, Italian waiters, chefs, wine, atmosphere….. As an Italian living in Ireland since 1997 I had abandoned the hope to find a genuine Italian place. I am delighted to have been proven wrong! Food is fantastic, from vitello tonnato to lardo di colonnata to carpaccio di porchetta…. Menu was limited, in real Italian trattoria style. I was there with my family, and we tried most dishes. Spectacular! Everything was of the highest standard, and prepared with perfection. Excellent wine too. Marco and his gang could not have been nicer. I will definitely return soon and will wholeheartedly recommend it. The place is very small and quaint – so you might want to book or wait, but it is well worth it! Bravi ragazzi, continuate cosí. Reviewed 19th June 2007 ( visited 19th June 2007 )I went to this restaurant with a large group of colleagues, and enjoyed the evening a lot. Waiter was very competent and friendly. Food was good, but pricey. Fillet steak was cooked to perfection. Comfy seating
Reeds on the River at Courtneys
Main Street Lucan, West Dublin, Lucan, Dublin
Visited this restaurant last n week-end with a friend. I had a starter of mushroom crostini and combo wings and spare ribs. The starter was uninteresting, dull, and tasteless. Plenty of bread but very few mushrooms. Bland and tasteless. The main course arrive din two different dishes. By the time I had finished the ribs I tried the chicken wings and they were cold. Lots of meat, but no chips, no salad, no veg. Service OK, but not excellent. Table was dirty, wine menu was greasy, dirty and stained. I will not be rushing back, nor would I recommend it. Poor, poor, poor....
Fade Street Social - The Restaurant
Drury Street , City Centre South, Dublin
I attended a rather unusual event called "dine in the dark" in aid of NCBI where dining guests were blindfolded. Great fun! Good food, exceptional service and good atmosphere altogether. Will return
Beeftro - Balfe Street
5 Balfe St, City Centre South, Dublin
Went for an early bird with my family. Nice starters. Then for the main course 4 took a steak and one took the burger. One of the steaks was not up to scratch. They were very apologetic and replaced it without any fuss. The second one was DELICIOUS. This restaurant does what is says on the tin. I would return.
Avenue by Nick Munier

Wow! Visited last night with the whole family, including the elderly in-laws. The food is outstanding! Atmosphere is great. Nick is the perfect host. Service was excellent. Can't fault it! Can't believe I waited this long...

What a great authentic Italian restaurant! Good service, close to Temple Bar, excellent food and VERY reasonable prices. Pizza was delicious! Would definitely recommend!

RiverBank Restaurant @ The Court Yard Hotel
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare
Early bird menu is very good value (25€ including a bottle of wine between 2 adults). Food is very good. Slight mix up with the orders and slow service last week, must be due to the fact that it was very busy. Would definitely reccomment it and go back soon!
7-9 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
My husband and I went to Uki Yo last night after a music concert at the Olympia. It was quite late, but the waiter was friendly and efficient, even at the end of a long day. I had the bento box, with Miso soup; at 18€ it is reasonable, as Japanese restaurants go in this country. Glass of wine was good too. I'd go back.
The Village @ Lyons, Celbridge, Kildare
I visited La Serre last Friday with my husband for our wedding anniversary. I had booked online - but the staff who welcomed us didn't seem to be aware nor have a list of reservations. The restaurant had tables so that was not a problem. We chose the 3 course meal with a nice bottle of red wine. Starters were good, although a bit too unnecessarily "poshed up" . My husband's steak was a poor cut of meat, and my pork was rare. I wasn't aware and was slightly put off by it. It did taste good, but I was uncomfortable with rare pork. We did point out that my husband's main course was not up to standard, and - fair play to them - they did not charge for his entire dinner! Given the good-will gesture of not charging us for one of the dinners, the location which is extremely pretty and the lack of good restaurants in the area I will be giving this establishment another go!
Maynooth Road, Celbridge, Kildare
The 20€ meanu is excellent value for money. Food is fresh, good, and portions are reasonable. Staff are very helpful. Can't fault it. Cheap and cheerful...I've been there with my family a few times (at least one a month); would definitely reccommend it.
YO Sushi Clarendon St
Brown Thomas, Clarendon St, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Went here withj my two children (we are all real lovers of sushi and sashimi...). Food was OK, but choice was rather limited. Good the idea of the sparkling and flat water. Rather expensive. Would probably go back, because the choice of sushi bar is extremely limited. Dublin does need a decent reasonably priced sushi bar!
The Bradaun Restaurant @ Leixlip House Hotel
Leixlip, Leixlip, Kildare
A very good friend of the family invited us to dine there between Christmas and New Year. The room is lovely and cosey, the food is of a very high standard and the wine was excellent too. Even my difficult-to-please child and teenage daughter were pleased and satisfied. Cannot comment on the cost because I was lucky enough not to see the bill, but would definitely go back and/or reccommend this restaurant.
Park Hotel Virginia
Lake Ramor, Virginia, Cavan
Dined there last night with my husband, my teen-ager daughter and my 7 year old child. Food good, not exceptional. Dining room is spacious, lovely leather chairs, service impeccable. They never offered me a smaller portion for my youngest child - obvioulsy he left half of his big steak. But all in all a lovely place. Would go back
Cooldrinagh House, Leixlip, Kildare
Ate in Beckett's last Saturday night with my husband for our 15th anniversary. Food was very good. Steak was cooked to perfection,a nd the chicken breast was also delicious. The only negative commet I have is the price of drinks; €20 for a bottle of 'plonk' is rather steep, and resulted in us only having a long drink for starter and a glass of wine with the meal. Food was faultless and OK for the money, but drinks...No no no! Not sure I would go again - although I might, given the lack of decent restaurants in the arae (captive audience and all that)
Beacon @ Brogans - Closed
High Street, Trim, Meath
I went there for lunch with a colleague yesterday. Weather being lovely, we sat outside. Nice quaint courtyard with a few tables. Service quick and corteous. I had a lovely Ceasar salad and my friend had a prawn open sandwich. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely go back.
Delhi Darbar (Celbridge)
Main Street, Above Village Inn, Celbridge, Kildare
I eat in this restaurant with my family at least once a month. And we order for delivery nearly once a week!!! Food is delicious. Service is impeccable, and the restaurant is nice and clean. Good atmoshere. Good value for money. They usually give us something on the house. Good selection of wines. Highly reccommend it!
Da Panza Restaurant
1 Yeats Centre, Dunboyne, Meath
I was there a couple of weeks ago with all my family (1 fussy 7 year old included). Service is excellent. Owner is at hand to take comments and chat and make everybody feel at ease. Waitress very friendly, too. Food is good, although not exceptional. I am Italian, and I rarely eat in Italian restaurants abroad. Da Panza is owned by a true Italian and is as close as it gets to real Italian food abroad (never understood why....). But....it's pricey! Would I go back? I doubt it. I find it difficult to justify paying nealy €12 for a plate of pasta with oil, garlic, and spicy pepper...
La Banca Ristorante
Main Street, Lucan Village, Lucan, Dublin
I was at La Banca Restaurant at the end of June for my wedding anniversary. Anyone who has not been to Italy would think it's a great restaurant... But the high prices are not justified and the mediocre food leaves a lot to be desired. Waiter was very friendly (and Italian) but the service was poor. As far as atmosphere...close to non-existant. We were on the top floor near the window, but .... I won't be rushing back!!!
