Came here with my hubby after a chilly walk on the beach. We were hungry and cold and had many restaurants to choose from. We chose this as the menu looked really appetising and I struggled to make a decision between the bangers and mash, fish and chips and pork belly with cracking. I opted for the fish and chips, fried lemon sole with chunky chips, mushy pea puree and the nicest tartare sauce I have ever tasted! The hubby went for the corned beef and mash potato - it was divine. The service was spot on. Very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. I want to go back for the pork belly. Only downside was the quietness of the restaurant - but again it was 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Will return. Yum!

My husband and I ate here on a night in Kinsale. We had been recommended by the owner of the place we were staying. We weren't disappointed the food was amazing. The best scallops I have ever eaten!! I had goats cheese salad to start followed by the monkfish and scallops. My husband had duck spring rolls followed by the sefood bake. We enjoyed a cheeseboard for dessert which was the only disappointment - I think you should be able to choose which cheese you want but here they just give you 3 cheeses. We drank 2 bottles of red - oops! The bill only came to 120. Not bad. Service was a bit confused....

Manifesto
208 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin

My second time here after having being recommended to visit by an Italian. The food, atmosphere and service are all excellent. A welcome addition to Rathmines. Only wish there were a couple more starters to share on the menu. Have only tasted pizza this good in Naples.....

Far East Restaurant
339 Ballyfermot Road, Dublin 10, Ballyfermot, Dublin

We come here whenever we have the Chinese food urge and it never fails to please. Usually have the szechaun chicken yumm and spicy - today opted for the beef thai red curry. Delish sauce but beef was a bit strange. Will go for chicken or prawns next time....

Frankies Italian Bar and Grill
42 Temple Bar Square, Temple Bar, Dublin

We ate here on a Thursday evening after work. Were greeted by a friendly waiter who looked after us very well to start off with but then disappeared at the end so we don't know if he got our tip. I ordered the steak with Bearnaise sauce and my other half the pork belly. I was disappointed to see that the price did not include accompaniments. I think a steak should naturally include chips. We both ordered fries each on the side which equated to an extra €8 - sly, I would have liked veg too but that would have added another 8 on to the bill, that I found irritating. However our meals were delicious. The steak was melt in the mouth and the pork belly was a taste sensation. Fries somewhat disappointing - stringy and limp and not that many of them... My husband commented too that he felt the restaurant did not quite know what it wanted to be in terms of the menu and the ambience. We had a bottle of wine too so all in all 2 meals plus wine was €70.

Carluccio's Caffe
52 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I have visited this restaurant once before in the summer when I sat outside and had OK food but were constantly harassed by peole looking for money. Last night I visited again with a friend and had a terrible experience. We arrived at around 9pm and were seated straight away. We both decided to go for the chicken liver pate starter and the spinach and parmesan pasta for main, plus a bottle of wine and a bread tin. We were told that they had run out of pate and the spinach pasta so had to hastily reselect. I opted for the rice and mozerella balls and the spicy sausage penne. My friend had the bruschetta and the same main. How disappointing. I have travelled Italy extensively and never eaten anything like a deep fried ball of rice - with very little taste of Italy bar the basil in the middle. My friends plate arrived - a huge pile of chopped tomatoes and rocket. Did not look at all like bruschetta. Pasta was OK - but could have made better myself. Will not go into the stale bread tin. May go back at a push in the summer due to outside seating - if they can do something about the begging - but certainly will not be in a hurry. Bad days....

Les Freres Jacques
74 Dame Street, Dublin City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I brought my husband here on Saturday night for his birthday. I had wanted to try this restaurant for years and am delighted that I have. What a treasure. The restaurant is nice and intimate and feels a million miles away from the hustle of Dame St. The service was fantastic. We were really looked after from the minute we walked in. Staff were friendly and attentive. Amuse bouche - delicious salmi roled up stuffed with cream cheese and spring onion - tasted amazing. Husband went for the set menu - artichoke soup then a duck canneloni - really tasty - and unusual! He then had a trio of fish accompanied with veg. I had the poached aspargus with lobster creme fraiche - divine, followed by medallions of fillet beef cooked to perfection. One of the nicest steaks I have ever eaten. We finished off with the cheese board and were able to pick around 8 different cheeses after having a mini presentation of where each came from. Our meals were washed down with a fine red. The price of the food reflects the fine quality and the service was superb. They also have excellent offers for lunch during the week. I will definitely be back!!

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Temple Bar)
Unit 1, Temple Bar Square, Dublin 2 , Temple Bar, Dublin

Ate here last night with my friend after a bit of shopping. We were warmly welcomed by a very attentive waitress who asked if we would like a window seat. We are huge people watchers so took it - should have known better - when we were tucking in to our humongous burgers it was us who were being watched by passers by reading the menu. This didn't put me off too much tho. I opted for the Thai Red curry burger, it was amazing. Not over sauced to make it soggy but had a nice kick and also came with grilled pineapple which I would normally not like - but it worked!!! My friend had a chicken burger with bacon and avacado and declared it to be the best chicken burger she had ever eaten. We both had our own portion of fries. We ordered 2 dips, smoked chilli and the garlic. I love garlic and did find it a bit strong, but then the waitress did pre-warn me :) I would just stick to kethup if I went again. Had 2 large red wines, a huge ckoe and a tea - bill came to 50 bucks. This place is a long time coming and I'll be back.

Jo'Burger
137 Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 , South Dublin, Rathmines, Dublin

Love the burgers in this place. Went once in the week when it was not overly busy and really enjoyed my meal. Went back on a Sunday and it was packed. Agree with the sardine review earlier. I don't like having to knock elbows with total strangers - the crowd next to us were obviously getting over the night before and were drunk and loud. That coupled with the banging beats from the DJ was all a bit much for me on a Sunday evening but maybe that's just me. Overall I do love it when it's quieter and if they would put real chips on the menu I would give it 5 stars!!

Ukiyo
7-9 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Was here on the 30th August for my hen party. We had gone for the set menu. Impressive selection and the staff were accommodating as a couple of people were late. Food was not great - maybe it was just what I ordered but had chicken skewers to start with. Dry and found a chewy gristly bit. Then beef - nice but accompanied by a sticky splodge of heavy and bland rice. Dessert was good though and the karaoke after was unbeatable. Think they could do with a separate entrance tho as the smokers felt rude traipsing through the restaurant and interrupting the other diners each time they wanted to have a smoke. Overall great fun for karaoke but won't be going back for the food in a hurry.
