What a super restaurant. Went there last Friday and had the early bird. Even at that stage of the evening the place was almost packed! We each had a different starter and everyone was pleased. I had the chicken escalope which was really delicious. The others had steak. The portions were so generous that we only had 1 dessert. We were a bit disappointed they didn't have their house Sauvignon Blanc. Apparently we weren't the only ones who had said this to them. Perhaps they'll put it back on again. The food was delicious, it's great value for money and there's always a great buzz. Highly recommended.

Vikings Steakhouse
225 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

We had an absolutely fantastic evening last night. We were seated by the window, which was lovely as we had the view, and this would be my only complaint about the place. There weren't enough windows to capture the lovely views over the bay. We were seated promptly and given our menus by a very pleasant and friendly lady. We had a voucher for 2 mains, 2 sides and 2 glasses of wine. I had seen a Lychee Martini advertised on the board so I ordered that. It was the best cocktail I've ever had. I'd be back for the cocktail alone! I had the chowder which was very, very tasty with lots of fish and some lovely WARM homemade brown bread. My husband went for the steak on the stone, which he said was the best steak he had ever had. I had the striploin with horseradish potatoes, grilled tomato and a lovely salad. It was delicious but I couldn't finish it. They gave me the remainder in a container and I intend having it for lunch to-day. My husband had coffee and a tiramisu which he really enjoyed. I had the house red wine which was very good and complimented the steak really well. We will definitely be back. Apart from the issue with light and lack of windows we couldn't fault the place. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

El Bahia Moroccan Restaurant
37 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I was greeted at the top of the stairs with Can I have your voucher? so we didn't get off to a good start. We were placed at a table just inside the door which was very draughty. I tried to catch the waiter's attention to see if we could move ..that took 5 minutes! We were moved. I had a glass of white wine which was very nice and 3 glasses of mint tea which was delicious. We had chicken tagine and chicken bastilla. My husband thought the tagine was just O.K. It had turnip and carrot in it. Very Moroccan! My dish was very tasty. We each had a dessert. Would I return....no I don't think so. The decor was nice but if you've been to Morocco it only scores a 5 out of 10.

Baan Thai (Leopardstown)
Central Park, Block P, Dublin 18, Leopardstown, Dublin

Once again a lovely evening. The food was great and the service excellent. There was a wide variety to choose from on the menu. I especially liked the duck. The beef stir fry was also excellent. Well worth a visit.

Belluccis

Oh how I love their Limoncello Martinis! I couldn't resist not even at lunch time! I went there with my daughter for brunch. She had the full Irish which was huge and very, very tasty. She got 3 rashers, 3 sausages,2 poached eggs, black and white pudding, mushrooms, a grilled tomato and beans on toast. You would need to be really hungry to finish it! Tea and coffee were extra. I had the sirloin steak with bearnaise sauce and 2 poached eggs and a grilled tomato. This was served with rosemary roast potatoes. It was delicious! The food was great, the portions were generous and the Lemoncello Martini! We'll definitely be back.

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Once again had a very pleasant experience in Roly's. I had the goat's cheese salad and she had the crab cakes. Both were delicious. We then went on to have the stuffed pork and the monkfish. We couldn't fault any dish. We were both full but decided to have dessert one to eat there and one to go.I had the chocolate and hazelnut brownie which was very sweet but which was nicely balanced by the ice cream which accompanied it.The place was packed, as usual, so they must be doing something right! It's hard to fault Roly's the food, the atmosphere everything is just right. Well done for continuing to maintain such a high standard.

Roast
10a Merrion Rd, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Had the great pleasure of dining in Roast again last night with 2 friends. One again it exceeded our expectations. We all had the 6 course menu, we choose different dishes and none of us could fault anything. How often can you say that about a restaurant? The staff were attentive but not intrusive and very informative when asked about the menu. The wine selection was good and affordable. The restaurant is small but cosy yet still has a nice buzz. It on a bus route, there are plenty of taxis outside and if you're driving there's parking to the side of the building. I really can't fault this restaurant and will definitely be back. If you haven't tried it please do; you will not be disappointed.

Greens Restaurant
Leopardstown Inn, Brewery Road, Leopardstown, Dublin

I've just returned from a very pleasant evening in Greens restaurant. It's been some time since I was there and I was very pleasantly surprised! My daughter ordered the 10oz rib eye which was melt in the mouth! It was served with a choice of fries and sauces, a baked tomato and crispy onions rings along with a delicious side salad. A complete meal: there was no need to order any sides. I had the chicken dish which came with pureed carrot, green beans and garden peas and a celeriac and potato fondant. There again a complete meal. Both dishes were really, really tasty. That's praise indeed as I am very fussy! We were both full after the main course so we shared a dessert....a fabulous crème brulee. We will definitely be back. 10 out of 10. Well done. Well worth a visit.

The Bistro at Ella
7 Main Street, Howth, Howth, Dublin

Ate again at Ella last night and was not disappointed. We started with delicious warm home made brown bread then went straight for the main courses. I had the fish pie which was delicious and my daughter had the stuffed pork which was fabulous. Unfortunately they were out of the Nemesis pie for dessert which was a shame because it was truly delicious last time i was there. Lovely small restaurant, very attentive staff and a fantastic chef. Highly recommended.

The Gables
McCabes Wines, The Gables, 1 Torquay Road, Dublin 18 , Foxrock, Dublin

I was pleasantly surprised as I had eaten here previously and had not been too impressed. However on this occasion the food was very good and the wine excellent value. We paid E10 for a lovely bottle of white South African wine which we finished off at home. This offer alone,a special rate on wine when you order a main course, will definitely bring me back. Well done.

Pyg Restaurant
Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, South William Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Myself and my daughter had a very enjoyable dinner in PYG last night. We were greeted warmly on our arrival and shown to our table. We ordered drinks, I chose the Guinness. I was asked if I'd like it with blackcurrent as they could served it that way. I agreed. When it arrived I found there was far too much blackcurrent in it and it was promptly replaced. I ordered the Antipasta dish and my daughhter chose the Lamb Koftas. Both were delicious and would have served as a main course. We waited to see the size of the main courses! Both of us had ordered fish...the Hake and the Tuna. There again both were delicious but we strugglled to finish. We felt the portion sizes were too big...a good complaint perhaps!! We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and would definately go back again. We found the staff to be very helpful and attentive. Either of the starters we had and a glass of wine would be a lovely way to end off a late night shopping trip in town. Be very hungry if you want a 2 course meal here! I would definately recommend this restaurant to a friend.
