Hugo's
6 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

14 of us went here for our Christmas party. I normally don't expect A class food at an Xmas party, pre-set menus and serving large numbers of the same dish. I was however pleasantly surprised by Hugos. The food was lovely. Not one person out of our group had a complaint. We weren't rushed either. It was a nice relaxed evening with good food and wine.

Fade Street Social - The GastroBar
4-6 Fade Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Staff very friendly and efficient. Was especially impressed because it has only recently opened and the staff really had got into the swing of things. The food was very nice, couldn't really fault it but I have tasted better tapas. Nice for something different. Would recommend the chicken with truffle popcorn. Would avoid the tomato and tuna ravioli. Bit on the expensive side for tapas.

Browns Barn Bar and Kitchen
Citywest Exit, Citywest Bridge N7, West Dublin, Saggart, Dublin

Ate here with my family. The party consisted of six adults and four children. I wasn't impressed at all. Found the staff very rude. Only one member of waiting staff had any kind of manners. We even had one member of staff remove cartons of juice (without asking) from the table stating that they weren't included in the children's meal deals. She had to be asked to put them back that the children required a drink and they would be paid for. All the adults had the carvery, the vegetables were severely under cooked and the mashed potatoes full of pepper, along with a miserable portion of one roast potato per plate. I had the pavlova and I may as well have been eating toffee, far too chewy. Wouldn't recommend here and certainly wouldn't eat here again.

For years I ate here regularly, at least twice a month. Due to relocating I hadn't been in well over a year. Glad I returned.Always nice food. Quiet place so can chat during your meal.Meal deal was very reasonable.

The Port House Ibericos
5/6 Pembroke Cottage, Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Have eaten here a number of times. Lovely place. The menu has a great variety. Service is quick. May have to wait a little while for a table at busy periods but worth it.

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)
3 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Nice food. Good menu options.Slight issue with my main. I said it to the waitress and it was taken off the bill without me even having to request. Love the call bell system for waiting staff. Service very quick and efficient. Will be heading again.

TGI Friday (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Ate here for the first time in about two years after my partner discovered the return of Wicked Chicken. Waiting staff were very friendly and service was very quick. I got a meal deal, two courses for fifteen euro so not bad. The food did let it down slightly. My burger was over cooked, my bread with my bruschetta was soggy and my partners chicken was rubbery. On the drinks front, the milkshake could have done with more ice cream and the daquiri could have done with far less ice and more syrup or strawberries. Can't complain about the Jack Daniels glazed chicken pieces (starter), they were lovely. Will try again.

The Bull & Castle and F.X. Buckley Steakhouse
5-7 Lord Edward Street, Christchurch, Dublin 8, City Centre South, Dublin

It was my friend's birthday over the weekend so we went here for a few drinks and a meal. We were in the Beerhall area. The music was a bit too loud. I like to be able to have a conversation during my meal but we were shouting to hear one another. I would suggest having a meal downstairs first. I had the open steak sandwich. It was nice but I have had better. The waitress was very nice and service was quick. I did however have an issue with the fact that it is apparently policy to provide a credit card or pay for the meal before it has arrived. I have eaten in many a pub and never been asked for payment up front. It is not a good policy. It is the type of thing that puts me off returning somewhere. Wouldn't be my first choice of place to return to.

The Martello (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow

Have eaten here a number of times without incident. Would decribe each time as neutral. Had lunch here with my family today. Five adults were in the party. While our order was taken quite quickly, we waited nearly half an hour for wraps. On arrival, two of the orders were incorrect. The food was ok but my chips were very over cooked. Won't be rushing back.

Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow

Had dinner here for the first time tonight with my partner. Glad I did. The food was lovely. Nice size portions. My partner thought the bread with his soup, could have been fresher but the rest of his food was perfect. I couldn't fault my meal. The service was quick, efficient and quite friendly.Recommended it to a friend who is moving into the area so no doubt, I will be visiting again in the near future.

Nandos (Dundrum)
Sandyford Road, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

I eat here every few weeks. Wasn't a fan my first time, but stupidly didn't order a chicken dish. I am now addicted to butterfly chicken. I have even bought the marinade so I can cook it at home. Tried the peas on my latest visit and loved them. I highly recommend the red pepper dip to share as a starter. It is a large portion. My partner was quite disappointed by the side salad, it could have done with less mixed leaves and some additional vegetables other that the one cherry tomato. My only issue with Nandos is that staff never seem to be able to estimate how long you will be waiting for a table. We were told thirty minutes on our last visit and only waited ten. While our previous visit, we had been told that it would be a twenty minute wait and we actually waited fifty minutes. My solution to this is to get in early before the shopping centre closes or wait for an hour or so after it closes. I have expressed my displeasure to the manager in relation to this matter.

Rustic Stone
South George's Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here for my birthday. Had been recommended by a friend. I had the fillet steak on a hot stone and thoroughly enjoyed it. My partner had the tuna on a hot stone, which was very nice. I dislike fish, so for me to say it was nice is a great compliment. It is a little bit expensive but the quality of the food is excellent. I will definitely return. I do however have one or two issues. The tables are very close together. This is however a problem in most city centre restaurants. Also, on ordering an on the stone dish, side orders have to be paid for in addition to the main. While this gives a greater selection of side orders, I prefer my meal to have the sides included.

Lings Chinese
10 B Albert Walk, Bray, Bray, Wicklow

My best friend turned me on to this little gem. Her family eats here on a regular basis and since she introduced me I am hooked. I really like the food. Highly recommend the chicken satay. The staff are very friendly and the service is very efficient. As with all restaurants, some dishes are a little expensive but overall they are quite reasonable. They also do meal deals, which are always worth a look.

Ocean Bar & Grill
7 Strand Road, Bray, Bray, Wicklow

I had lunch here with my family for the first time today. I liked the decor. It was quite a relaxed environment but I don't think I will be returning. The food was average. I had the goats cheese parcels to start, they were nice but lacked in flavour slightly. The goats cheese was quite overpowering. I had the carbonara for my main meal but it again lacked flavour and my pasta was under-cooked. I love carbonara and eat and cook it regularly, and it was easily in my bottom three. The two other adults in my company had soup to start, they were not offered any bread which I thought unusual. The service was very slow. We waited for long periods between each course. There was three adults and a child in our party and our quick lunch became two hours. We waited near thirty minutes for a jelly and ice cream for the child in our party. We were told it was on the way on three occasions. On the brightside, the meal was 14.95 for two courses.

The Porterhouse (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow

I eat here on a regular basis with my friends. The food is nice and quite reasonably priced. We usually sit in the area beside the kitchen. I like to have a conversation during my meal. On my most recent visit we were unable to obtain a seat near the kitchen, so we sat in the main part of the pub. The food was fine but the service was severely lacking. I had to go in search of a member of the waiting staff to take our order and again to provide us with condiments for the table. None of the staff returned after our meal to clear the plates. I called a member of staff as they were walking past, as we wanted to pay the bill. They looked at me and continued walking. In the end I had to go to the bar. While I wouldn't stop eating here based on this one experience, I certainly won't be sitting in the main part of the pub on my return.
