I have had lunch on a number of occasions here. There is always a good selection of quality dishes on the menu. The salads are particularly good quality. Service can suffer a bit in busy times, especially with coach arrivals. Prices a little on the high side for the offerings.

Brownes Steakhouse
The Plaza, Blanchardstown Village, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin

Staff here are very nice and the service is good. Unfortunately the beef quality doesn't stand up. There is no choice on the menu for steak origin, so you get what is served, and on the last occasion my fillet was a poor cut and not at all tender. This is a pity, because the venue and staff are fine and very pleasant. It was a real example of the basic ingredients letting down the show. Especially for a specialist steak restaurant.

Castello Bruno
Main Street, Castleknock Village, Dublin 15, Castleknock, Dublin

This is a very good value trattoria. We have had both lunch and dinner on a few occasions here, and the quality is very consistent. It is not five star, but is a good honest trattoria style place, serving standard but decent quality dishes. On a sunny day it's really nice to eat out on the patio. Will definitely be back again.

Boqueria Tapas Restaurant
3 Prussia St, Stoneybatter, Stoneybatter, Dublin

4 of us had a tapas dinner. It was rally good. Very nice atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, and interesting.

Shanahan’s on the Green
119 St. Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Have eaten here before. Standard of the food is very high and always a memorable experience to dine here and relax. Unfortunately the service seemed to have dropped sine my last visit, with the basics done well - but no added attention to make you feel like it is any way special. Also we were tucked away in the back as far as possible form the windows - even thought there was plenty of space in the brighter areas. - Just needs to be more attentive to details.

Captain America's Blanchardstown
Unit 40 Blanchardstown, Retail Park 2 Extension Dublin, West Dublin, Blanchardstown, Dublin

Unfortunately the Grafton Street experience has not transferred well to Blanchardstown. Portions are inexplicably smaller than Grafton, the atmosphere is dull and impersonal relying it seems on the loud music and warehouse space. Probably OK for a quick burger, but not a good choice for pleasant dinner.

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We have eaten here a number of times. The quality of the food is consistently very good. Three of us had lunch from the st menu. Starters and Mains including fish and chicken dishes were really well presented and of a very high quality. We have no doubts about returning soon.

Bia Alainn
Main Street, Bunclody, Wexford

Two of us had dinner here during a recent visit to Bunclody. Starters we had pidgeon, and veg. terrine, these were really nice and perfectly presented. For mains, my partner had chicken and I had cod. I was really impressed with the fresh cod, a really lovely cut which was cooked to perfection (I'm really fussy about fish). The food here is excellent, and the place is really nice and well run. I would definitely return next time I'm in the area.

Lady Lucy's Rooftop Restaurant
Carlton Millrace Hotel, Bunclody, Wexford

Two of us had dinner here as part of a midweek break package with the hotel. I found the menu a bit limited, and the atmosphere was not great, in that the layout is rather functional than cosy. However the food was good, although lacked a little in imagination. Service was good. In general no complaints, but would not recommend for a 'special' occasion.

Avoca Handweavers
Kilmacanogue, Bray, Bray, Wicklow

Had lunch quite a few times here. Would recommend it for very good quality food, good selection and great protions. Place gets really busy at peak times, so its worth planning to avoid the rush. Car parking is difficult during lunch time. It is quite expensive, so I would suggest for a special lunch or to entertain occasionally. Not a daily routine.

La Peniche @ RIASC
Barge Riasc, Mespil Road Jetty, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Would not recommend for a quiet dinner for two. For something different on a special occasion where fine food is not the centre piece, it’s good fun. Watch out for extras, and don’t lean too far over the deck rails! I was one of a party of 12, celebrating a 40th. La Peniche seems to cater for groups mainly, at least we were a group, - and one on four separate groups on the night. While I was boarding I tried to see where the galley was, - but I later discovered the meals are prepared on a separate ‘service’ vessel, berthed behind. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was average and with limited choice, but presented tastefully. Portions were on the small side. Base price for the meal was OK at €35/head three course, but the addition of a per head ‘cruise’ charge, service charge, and above average drink prices (about 3 each, no expensive wine) resulted in a relatively stiff overall bill circa €65/head.

Aqua Restaurant
1 West Pier, Howth, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

Howth can be a mixed bag when it comes to seafood in my experience. Happily this is one restaurant that has no difficulty delivering on its promise. We had dinner booked for eight yesterday evening, arrived early, so decided to have a drink in the reception lounge area first. This was very pleasant with a nice log fire to welcome us. The staff were very polite and helpful. For starters we had duck liver pate and the vegetable soup, both were quite delicious and generous portions. Our main courses were baked cod, and whole bass, with sides of vegetables accompanied by and Alsace Riesling. The service was very good and professional. Food was excellent and the view over the sea really adds to the experience. Very good value for money, even tough its not cheap. A great place for a special occasion.

Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Cork)
4/5 South Main Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

OK place for a quick lunch or burger dinner, with a couple of beers. Don't go for a quiet meal or if you are in hurry. Service is patchy with young servers obviously busy with things going on elsewhere. The burgers are quite good though. Dont travel too far..

Blairs Inn
Cloghroe, Blarney, Cork

Made a roadside stop here for an early lunch. We were delighted to see the place well lit up with two open fires and obviously prepared and set for buisness. The lunch menu had good choice and we had two paninni salads, coffee and soft drinks. The salads were excellently prepared with really nice fresh ingredients and assembled well. the paninnis grate too. Can't complain abount any aspect of quality, service or value. We intend to return for dinner when next in the area.

Suko Thai
The Square, Blarney, Cork

Two of us had dinner here mid week. There was just one lady working the front of house, who was very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is quite nice and cosy, small, neat and clean. I had a prawn chilli based dish and asked for it spicy, it came just as I hoped. We also had a selection of chicken, noodles and rice. The food was well prepared and pesented, and I would say relatively authentic. Overall a very pleasant light dinner experience. I think not suitable for large parties.

Christys Grill Bar
Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel. Blarney, Blarney, Cork

We had a meal here in January as part of a hotel break offer. We had starters and main courses only. Lovely environment and a pleasant atmosphere, the service was very good. Food was wholesome if a little unimaginative. (we both had different chicken dishes which were actually very similar) A good honest meal with few frills but good value for money. We would have lunch here next time we are in the area.

De Brúns
Ashleigh Centre, Main Street, Castleknock, Dublin

We tried this restaurant as an alternative to the Chinese options in the immediate area. The decor, layout, and environment are very good. We were disappointed with the food though - it didn;t live up to the plush decor. We had a starter and main course (beef) with a glass of wine each, - no dessert, tea.coffee because the time was getting on and there was a little too much waiting on service. I got the impression the main courses were assembled rather than tastefully created. When I got the bill I felt a little cheated. Haven't been back since.

The Winding Stair Restaurant
40 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin

Arrived early and was accomodated with a window seat which worked out great. The tables are a little tight, and the decor functional. But the food was excellent, service very good, and overall a really good value dinner.
