We visited Dobbins a few months ago & couldn't wait to go back again - so we did and were once again delighted! The food was wonderful, we had the chicken & pear salad and duck spring roll for starters, followed by the cod 'fish & chips' style and hake for mains - delicious! The lemon tart for dessert was sublime. I must also say that their wines by the glass are generous. We're looking forward to our next visit!

We have been to Peploes on several occasions and it never disappoints - the food was fantastic, flavoursome and beautifully presented. The service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. The only downside was the table of 12 noisy women seated close to our party of 2. They arrived just before our mains but we found it hard to hear ourselves for our mains & pudding so let the coffee go. A real shame! We will request a table nearer the bar area for our next booking. I wouldn't let it put other diners off but I do think that the duty manager should have advised that a number of large groups had bookings on the main floor and offered a table for 2 in a more quiet location. Other than that - all was perfect.

Brasserie Sixty6
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I visited Brasserie Sixty6 on Thursday 19th with my husband using a Menupages voucher. The place was busy and the atmosphere excellent. We were shown to our table and our prosecco arrived almost immediately so that was a nice way to peruse the menu! I ordered the Caesar Salad and my husband the Crab salad with Avocado Mousse - both were excellent, as was the Hake we both had for mains. For pudding I had the Yoghurt Panna Cotta and my husband the Pecan Pie - both were delicious! Now...this is worth mentioning - I had taken a look at the menu online earlier in the day and as I'm on a bit of a diet was trying to work out the low-calorie options. I couldn't figure it out on my own so I emailed Brasserie Sixty6 asking which was the lowest calorie starter and could the Hake be roasted or grilled instead of pan fried. Within a couple of hours I had received an email from Elaine with the answers to all my questions (and yes, the Hake can be roasted). Now that's service! It also meant that I could decide in advance what to eat and then just sit back and enjoy my meal. It also happened that Elaine was our Maitre D' for the night and on leaving asked if her email was helpful - it certainly was! Top marks and we will definitely return.

Crockets Bar and Bistro @ Crockets on the Quay
The Quays, Ballina, Mayo

Dined here whilst on holidays in Ballina, It's out of town and was quiet when we arrived but it was busy enough over the course of our evening there. We originally went in for drinks but were tempted by the plates being sent out to diners so decided to go for it! We were not disappointed! My husband just had chicken wings and loved them. I had rib eye with all the trimmings - it was one of the best steaks I ever had! Totally superb. It's a lovely bar/restaurant and very reasonable with great service. We will definitely return when next in Ballina!

Ice House Hotel
The Quay, Ballina, Mayo

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and dined in the hotel restaurant on 1 night. The restaurant service is outstanding - attentive and professional. The decor is pretty stark, without any great embellishment, which I expect is to be provided by the excellent views during daytime or summer evenings but on a dark night is lacking. We were really excited by the impending meal as the restaurant food is generally regarded as of exceptional quality. It is very good but not outstanding, especially at the price charged. We loved the hotel but will probably not rush back to the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast however is very good.

Marcel's
13 Merrion Row , City Centre South, Dublin

Visited Marcel's last Friday for lunch. My food was lovely, particularly the lamb which was delicious. Our waiters were lovely until another party arrived early and they required our table. We were rushed off our table with undue haste and this soured the meal for most of us. Honestly, I would give this restaurant a second chance but my husband flatly refuses. A real shame! I honestly hope Marcel's owner/manager reads this review and takes it on board. Don't undermine great food and attentive service by falling at the final hurdle.

La Mere Zou
22 St Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Excellent lunch here some weeks ago. The chicken liver parfait starter was very nice, however the pheasant stole the show! For just a small supplement it was well worth it. Also have to mention the warm carrot cake - outstanding! Will definitely be back.

Whitefriar Grill
16 Aungier Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

It was our first visit to the Whitefriar Grill and definitely won't be our last. Fois Gras and Scotch Egg for starters followed by the wonderful 'Rib Eye on the Bone'. Don't know how we managed dessert but we did! The atmosphere was very good and the service friendly & efficient. Although we were told they would probably need the table back by 9 we were still there, on our second bottle of wine, gone midnight. A lovely experience.

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

It is almost 15 years since I visited this restaurant so it was great to be able to purchase a Menupages deal to take a walk down memory lane. I couldn't remember exactly where it was so I had to the call the restaurant when I got lost about 2 streets away from it. The lady on reception that day was exceptional - not only did she give me directions and stood outside so that I could easily spot it but she also thanked us for supporting the restaurant by buying the deal. That is certainly unusual! The food, ambiance and service lived up to the first impressions we received from her and I am eagerly awaiting another lunch deal to be able to return. Top marks!!

We have visited this restaurant for lunch on several occasions and always enjoyed the experience so when we saw a Menupages deal for dinner we jumped at the chance. As always, the food was excellent and the service flawless. We're looking forward to going back!

The Sussex
9 Sussex Terrace, Upper Leeson Street, City Centre South, Dublin

My partner and I ate here in December. When we initially arrived they didn't have a table available for us but they were able to seat us later in the night so we returned to find a wam welcome to an extremely busy restaurant. Neither of us ordered starters and both had the fillet steak for mains. I can honestly say it was accompanied by one of the best pepper sauces I have ever tasted. My partner didn't have desert but he was sorry once he'd tasted my Lemon Posset. Overall it was a lovely dining experience. Our waitress was very attentive and it was great to be able to watch the chefs at work. Would recommend.

Greenes Restaurant @ Hotel Isaacs
48 MacCurtain Street, By the Waterfall, Cobbled Courtyard Close, Cork City, Cork

Three of us dined at Greene's last Wednesday and it was the first time here for all of us. Our first impressions were positive. We were professionaly greeted and quickly seated. Two of us dined from a set menu and one from the a la carte. The set menu was somewhat limited but for a very comeptitive price that was totally understandable. The a la carte was extensive and priced accordingly. Service was excellent if a tad rushed. The quality of the food was good but to be honest the three of us found the flavours somewhat bland. For a Wednesday night it seemed quite busy and the atmosphere was good. We did enjoy our meal and we will probably dine there again but only after checking out a few other restaurants first.

Seven
73 Manor Street, Stoneybatter, Dublin

My partner and I visited Seven last Wednesday (our 4th time to visit this restaurant). We chose the 'pre-theatre' menu as it offered a wide variety at a very reasonable price - 3 courses for €19.95. We had calamari & chicken salad for starters, both of us had rib-eye steak for mains and chocolate brownie & ice cream selection for desert. The food was wonderful - much higher quality than many other 'pre-theatre' offers elsewhere. The service was excellent - our waitress was extremely nice, efficient without being intrusive. Total cost (including tip) was €75. It was quiet that night but living locally we get to see Seven packed several times a week. They deserve to do well!

Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

My partner and I visited Peploe's for Saturday lunch. Although very quiet when we arrived at 12 noon it quickly started to fill up. The waiting staff we encountered were excellent and could not be faulted. My partner ordered the French onion soup to start, which he thoroughly enjoyed, followed by the chicken stuffed with Toulouse sausage, which he found to be a little bland, but that's a common comment when it comes to chicken. My order of mushroom soup was fantastic and the tastiest soup I've had in a long time. My main course was the smoked haddock & crayfish pie which was utterly delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant and will definitely return.
