the dugout -does the best and cheapest full fry breakfast in bray for 7.99 (not hard) AND cooked to order unlike the leather microwave rasher merchants close by . could choose better sausages and bread. local polish shop sells great rye for toast..... superb value early bird runs 4.30 to 8.30 when the kitchen closes - a decent striploin with salad and chips or veg and mash PLUS a huge soup with real fresh homemade walnut bread PLUS tea.coffee or a free wine all for 15 quid. nice staff and chefs. could vary the menu a bit more and take it a bit upmarket -how about a cheeseplate and wine package or some tapas ? chips not great, huge sports screens to beat the band but not in your face. pint and burger deal for a tenner

Platform Pizza Bar
7 Strand Road, Bray, Co.Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow

superb. well thought out and laid out . good menu. the super salad is magnificent and great value. you would not make it yourself for the price. the lunch offer is good. coffee is excellent. booze a bit pricey. toilet design hilarious and spotless. why can others in Bray not learn from the Duggans here and do likewise

Eddie Rockets (Bray)
Bray, Bray, Wicklow

decor is great. food, despite a menu re-jig not so hot, but vastly improved price range and variety. mini bites a great idea, particularly the sliders, but someone needs to tell the chefs not to squeeze the juice out of the burgers. teapots a mean size but cheerful chinese staff willing to do a refill. coleslaw and potato salad vile. join their website -they do 2 for 1 vouchers every so often. malted milkshakes huge and decent. toast terrible." maple syrup" is not maple syrup. big successful franchise but generosity and food style still a bit lacking.

brought 5 tourist friends here. was not disappointed. excellent breads including gluten free. oysters wonderful.crab perfect. huge tender steak with great chips and bearnaise sauce. hake cooked just right.chocolate souffle dessert a bit dry. passionfruit ice cream did not work. excellent cheerful observant staff. a triumph overall.

Sanam Tandoori (Wicklow)
19 Castle Street Shopping Centre, Bray, Wicklow

ambitious plan to offer full menus from widely disparate cuisines. indian menu strong, particularly the saturday and sunday thali lunch platter for 9.95 and the takeaway combo specials great value too. generous with the basket of poppadums and thai crisps and dips before the meal, but why is it always mango chutney, mint yoghurt and that brightly coloured chopped cabbage ? onion? unreliable heineken dispenser, but lots of ice cold cobra bottles. thai and italian food weaker.

Palermo Ice Cream Restaurant - Closed
25 Quinsborough Road, Bray, Wicklow

nice idea attitude and location-sadly the recipes not quite up to scratch-ice cream assembled upstairs from powdered formula have branched out into paninis and coffee. i give it a year unless they start making decent ice cream. big portions but big prices -

The Porterhouse (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow

not bad at all -great range of bottled beers and their stouts win awards and medals over the multinational owned ones terrible chips great cheap oysters -sadly served without the great pile of free rocket that hey did until recently rest of the food menu badly designed and mediocre execution awful quality prawns -the shiny rubbery ones that taste of latex

Pizzas n Cream
Albert Walk, Bray, Wicklow

was ok when it started up but is pretty awful now-expensive, stingy, cheap ingredients, stale flat warm fizzy drinks, sweetcorn and red onion salads inedible, pale watery tomatoes and mean portions there is a pizza joint nearby that has a great lunchtime deal with a beer a pizza and a soup for 11 euro a pity --cute little location
