Reviewed 07th August 2010 ( visited 30th July 2010 )Great value!Do a student special for 6 euro (bottle of water and any fajita/burrito) which is brilliant. Had the Shredded beef fajita which is delicious. They also sell beer and margaritas which are really tasty. There's space inside and out to sit and eat, will definitely be returning soon!
Gourmet Burger Kitchen - GBK (South William Street) restaurant
14 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code:
Reviewed 07th August 2010 ( visited 11th July 2010 )Great location and such good value too! Used the 5 euro offer also. The staff are friendly and the desserts are just as tasty as the burgers. Would definitely recommend the lamb burger which was great for the price!! Cant wait to go back and try something else!
The Counter Suffolk Street
20 Suffolk Street, City Centre South, Dublin
They do a great value €10 deal here. I got the Southwestern burger in a bowl which was delicious. The burger was so big there really was no need to get a bun. Not much atmosphere here, however. We were sat at a table towards the very back so were quite isolated from the rest of the diners. Service was alright but not amazing. Our waitress forgot two of the drinks we ordered and after being reminded by us, still didn't get them to us before we started to eat. Overall though, good value. I will definitely be returning to try out more of their interesting burgers.
Douglas & Kaldi Terrace Cafe and Restaurant
Level 2, Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin
Went here for lunch with 2 friends. I ordered the fish and chips, which was ok, but not great. The chips were kind of soggy and weren't as hot as I would have liked. The fish was really good though. Our waiter was great and on seeing that I hadn't finished my meal checked to see if everything was ok. The place was empty enough when we arrived but still had a nice friendly atmosphere to it.We had lovely coffees to finish off the lunch. I would probably go back again but would like to try some of the other places Dundrum has to offer first.
19/20 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went here for a quick lunch because of its handy location. Even though i would normally incorporate meat into my lunches/ dinners i didn't miss it when i ate here. I went for the Mediterranean Vegetable wrap which was delicious and left me feeling nicely full. It's a very relaxed place to eat and they do a student discount between certain times so it was great value. The soups looked really tasty too and i would definitely try one if i get to visit again!
The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Having heard lots about this place I was really eager to try it out. Luckily we didn't have to wait for very long at all before a table became free but we did see quite a few couples that were waiting quite a while for a table. The decor inside is really lovely and the place has a very intimate feel to it. There was 5 of us so we decided to order 2 of most of the small tapas and just share everything around which worked out really well! My favourites were the patatas bravas and the albondigas. Our server recommended a lovely wine and was very attentive the whole evening. The meal worked out as great value and i cant wait to go back and try some more dishes!
Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
We ordered from the value meal which gets you 2 courses for 16 euro. We both had pizzas, which were freshly made for you to see and really delicious. I had the Sicilian which is topped with sour cream which was a really interesting and tasty combination! The garlic bread was great too. The staff were lovely and were really accommodating about us changing our booking just a few hours before we were set to arrive. The place was really busy so it had a great atmosphere but i would recommend making a booking before you go to ensure you get a table, we saw quite a few people turned away because the place was full. I will definitely be back!!
60 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Having visited crackbird when it first opened as a pop up restaurant on crane lane, i was very glad to see it reopen permanently on south william street and just had to see if it had maintained it's great atmosphere and quality. It definately has. The food was delicious, and the sauces and sides (particularly the potato salad) were great too. One of my favorite things I had here was actually their home made lemonade and I would come back for this alone!! The waiting staff were really friendly and accomodating and the place was bustling with people, which added to the great atmosphere. I was so happy with our experience that I even gave a my foodie friend a voucher for crackbird for christmas!
Milano (Dawson Street)
38 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin
We took advantage of a great deal Milanos was offering (Buy one pizza get another for 2 euro). The place was very busy but our food didn't take too long to arrive and it tasted really good. I got the Rustichella pizza with rocket, which was delicious, and banoffie pie fro dessert. Our server wasn't too attentive or friendly but the overall experience was great and we were very happy. I think that it is a bit pricey for what you get, but with the voucher it was great value. Would definitely return again if they have another offer like this!
6-7 Jervis Street, Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin
A group of us went here on a busy thursday night and were really impressed! We decided to do the cocktail masterclass they offer after our meal and it was great fun! We had lessons from the resident mixologist and got to try and make a number of delicious cocktails of our choice! The meal was one of the best iv'e had in a long time! I had the chicken laab to start which was lovely but very spicy!! For main I had the massaman Lamb which I couldn't fault one bit! The rest of the party were equally pleased with their food and we had some lovely wine to top things off. The atmosphere was really fun and I will definitely be returning as soon as i can!!
Pablo Picante - Clarendon Market
4 Clarendon Market, Between Clarendon Row & South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Pablos do a great value student burrito at just 5 euro! You can choose from a few of their menu options for the deal. The best of which is the mexicali mince. The burritos are a good size and have lots of flavour to them. The choice of salsa is great too and they now serve beers!! The staff are very friendly and the only thing i could fault about this place is the small seating area available which can mean that during busy periods you might struggle to get a seat, but I will definitely be back!! One of the best burrito bars in Dublin!
15 Castle Market Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Such a lovely spot to sit outside for dinner! The service is very professional and the food was every bit as good as I had heard. We shared the pates to start, followed by the beef dish for two. This was expensive at 55 euro but was definitely worth it. The place has a lovely atmosphere and some great wines. Wish I could have tried everything on the menu because it all looked so good!! Great place for a special occasion.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen - GBK (South William Street)
14 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Great location and such good value too! Used the 5 euro offer also. The staff are friendly and the desserts are just as tasty as the burgers. Would definitely recommend the lamb burger which was great for the price!! Cant wait to go back and try something else!
Burritos & Blues
2 Wexford Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin
So glad to hear this place was back!! It is definitely on par,if not better than the original was in Ranelagh and is such good value too. Had the silver bullet which was every bit as good as I remembered. They do late night opening at weekends which suits the location very well. One of the best Mexican places in Dublin.
Bad Ass Cafe
Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Have been going to the bad ass for years but has definitely taken a turn for the worse recently. The atmosphere is as bustling as ever but the quality of the food just isn't what it used to be and service is mediocre also. The staff are unhelpful and unfriendly. We both had Pizzas which were bland and slightly cold. It's sad to see such a great place go downhill like this. Would not recommend it.
Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin
Great value!Do a student special for 6 euro (bottle of water and any fajita/burrito) which is brilliant. Had the Shredded beef fajita which is delicious. They also sell beer and margaritas which are really tasty. There's space inside and out to sit and eat, will definitely be returning soon!
192 Lower Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin
Went here for a coffee and snack during the week.A bit cramped and not enough staff working so it took ages to get served but they do great hot chocolate and bagels. prices aren't too steep either. Has a very chilled out atmosphere but the arrangement of furniture can lead to it being a bit cramped when its busy. The toilets downstairs are awful, with only one working properly and both smelling like they hadn't been cleaned in days.
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
Wasn't too long waiting for a table without a reservation and was able to sit outside under the heaters with a glass of wine and an italian beer while we did. The pizzas were great as usual and the chocolate glory was even better! I would have enjoyed it alot more though if it wasn't for our waiter who seemed keen to get us out as quickly as possible.Felt like he was hovering over us the entire night.
Solas (Wexford St)
31 Wexford Street, City Centre South, Dublin
Had a weekend lunch here and definitely would again. The place is alot brighter and friendlier than i remember from previous visits and the food was just as good. We shared a chicken and bacon caesar salad and beef enchiladas. The enchiladas didn't have as much meat in them as i expected but the food was good overall. They do great cocktails too!!
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
We dined here on a quite enough monday evening, but the place had a lovely atmosphere and great service. We shared Phla salmon as a starter and had phad king with beef and a yellow curry with prawns as main courses. Both were excellent but slightly overpriced. We shared a bottle of pinot grigio which was lovely and under 25 euro. I would definately recommend Saba for a business lunch or even an evening out.
