I just love this place. The staff are so friendly and nice. I have eaten here more times than I can count and have never had a bad meal. Everything is simply delicious and the wine list is decent and fair value for money. I especially enjoy their Chianti which is priced about 23 euros. On this last occasion that we ate here, I arrived about 830pm with a friend but without reservation. We were greeted warmly and even though it was past the hours where the early bird was applicable, we were told we could choose that menu if we wished, which we did. After a delicious 3 course meal for just 19.99 per head, we were offered a free drink on the house. There's nothing I can criticize Okra about and I know it's a favourite of many other locals who I see there often when I go. Without doubt my favourite restaurant in Howth.

Goosers Bar and Eating House
Ballina, Killaloe, Clare

Had lunch here last week. We were a party of 5 and the staff were really accommodating and helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere in the bar, with natural floors, stone walls and beams. There is a really good choice of food on the menu and the portions are generous. Overall good value for money and if I were in Killaloe/Ballina again, I would happily eat here again either for lunch or dinner.

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here with some friends just over a week ago. Have been several times before and always enjoyed ourselves. On this occasion we had a table under the stairs for 5 people. The table was a really bad configuration and left one person unable to really participate in conversation. Now this didn't matter too much as it was our daughter who was happy to play on the iPad. Despite the table being pretty poor (they had advised us it would be under the stairs but I didn't realise how awkward it was) we had a very nice evening. Several of us had fillet steaks and I have to say they were some of the best steaks I have had in a very long time, a good 9 out 10. Service is always friendly and was as expected on this occasion too. I would certainly go back to this restaurant again but I wouldn't take the table under the stairs if you are a party of more than 4 at a push.

Jewel in the Crown (Ballsbridge)
41-43 Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Ate here on Wednesday with with brother and his partner. Have been several times before and have always had a good meal, as we did on this occasion. Service is very friendly and polite and food is fair value for money. We chose a good Spanish Reserva which was priced at about 28 Euro, which is a fair price for the quality. Will certainly be back again.

Salamanca
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here last night with a pal. We each ordered 3 different tapas, which were all lovely. I especially enjoyed the chicken in a creamy garlic sauce. We had a couple of cocktails, which at 7 euro per cocktail, I thought was fairly reasonable for Dublin prices. We also had a couple of glass of the house wines, both white and red, which were decent for a house wine. A nice surprise was when we were given a free glass of cava/prosecco each as we had booked the table through menupages. The girl serving us was only new, but she was very pleasant and helpful. A very nice evening and a good buzzy atmosphere.

Moloughney's Clontarf
9 Vernon Avenue, North Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin

Had a late Sunday lunch here yesterday. We've been before and like the atmosphere and decor, as clearly do many others as the restaurant was jam packed. Our table wasn't qute ready when we got there, but we only had to wait a few minutes before seating. However, we did have to wait after being seated for a few minutes before getting menus. Once we had the menus, the service was very good, accommodating special requests and attentive throughout. We all ate different things and everyone enjoyed their meals. The wine selection is good and you can get a decent bottle of wine without spending a fortune. I've enjoyed myself more on evening occasions here, but would certainly go back again. It's a very good restaurant with fair value for money.

Red Torch Ginger
14/ 15 Andrew Street , Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here yesterday with my brother. Have had lunch and dinner here a number of times and it's always been excellent. The two course lunch for 14.95 is very good value. We both had chicken satay to start, followed by the chicken Massaman. We both asked for extra chillis and they didn't disappoint. For dessert, we had the lemon and green tea cheescake which was yummy. Service was excellent, very polite and friendly. Will certainly be back.

The Venue
Dundrum House Hotel Nr. Cashel, Cashel, Tipperary

Ate here on Friday and Saturday night as we were staying onsite at Dundrum House. The staff in the Venue are particularly helpful and friendly. The menu has a really good choice and is excellent value for money. On the Friday night, I had the stuffed chicken and ham and my husband had the ham and eggs. On the SAturday I had the sirloin steak and my husband the burger. Both of us enjoyed our meals on both nights. Desserts are delicious too, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. In terms of wine, they only have a house offering, however we chose the Shiras, which was an Australian and while not the best wine I had ever had, it was decent and good value at 19euro a bottle. The decor is nice and it's a very relaxed atmosphere. Prices are very good value. The venue is very child friendly also, so eminently suitable for families.

Took a party of 7 here last Thursday. We all received a complimentary glass of prosecco for having booked the table through menupages. We all had 3 tapas per person. The food was deliciious. I had the chorizo in red wine, ham croquettes and chicken in garlic and white wine cream sauce which was absolutely mouth watering. Everybody enjoyed what they had and the service was very polite and friendly. We had a few bottles of red wine which were priced fairly and most of us had desserts. It was a lovely meal and I would definitely plan on visiting again on a date with my other half. It's a good venue either for a romantic meal for two or for a group dinner.

Bay Restaurant
369 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

We ate here last night for the first time. We had heard positive things about Bay from others and decided to give it a try. The menu has a reasonable variety of foods and I like that they give you the calorie content of each of the meals, so you can make an informed choice. We skipped starters and just had mains and dessert. Two in the party had fillet steak, which was decent enough and another had the chicken/prawn linguine, which was also nice. We all had different dessers, the creme brulee was very flavoursome, although it was supposed to be two different flavours, but we couldn't tell which was which. The brownie that another had, was a little too heavy and the pavlova that another had was tasty, but honesly was more just like purchase meringue and berries. Service was friendly and helpful and the decor is cozy if not a little tired. I am not sure what it was about Bay, we had a nice evening, but I can't see us rushing back.

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Took my team here on Friday night, using our corporate loyalty discount card. Have to say, the food and service was very good and when the discount was taken into account, the value for money was outstanding. It's a good venue for group dinners. The only thing I am not so keen on, is that they always seat groups downstairs and I would much prefer the upstairs part of the restaurant. That said though we had a lovely evening and it was excellent value for money.

Had dinner here with a friend. I've been several times before and the food is always good. This occasion didn't disappoint, the food was delicious, I had the chicken Makhani and my pal had one of the prawn dishes. Service was polite and efficient. Wine list has a decent choice and are priced appropriately. The one thing the restaurant could improve is the atmposphere by reducing the lighting in the evening. The restaurant is a bit too bright. This is my only area for improvement and I am confident I will return again.

Vina Mara Restaurant
19 Middle Street, Galway City, Galway

We are here on Friday night, my husband, myself and our 7 year old daugter. Despite having my booking confirmed through menupages, they said they didn't have any record of our booking, but accommodated us no problem with a table. On several nights during the week, including the Friday when we were dining, they have a fantastic offer of a 3 course meal for two and a bottle of house wine for 60 euro, which we had. We chose the house red which was a chilean, not normally my favourite, but it was decent enough. I had a delicicous parsnip soup to start and my husband had a lovely goats cheese salad For mains, my husband had lamb shank, which he said was very good but could have had a bit more depth to the flavour of the sauce. I had the sirloin steak which was good. We both had desserts as it was part of the menu, but honestly despite the fact they were very nice, we were both very full at this stage and unable to finish them. What I liked in terms of the children's menu, was that they had proper meals on offer, rather than the standard fair of burger and chips or sausage and chips. My daughter chose the roast pork (she would have had the roast beef but they were out of it).Service was polite and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I would defintely eat here again next time I was in Galway. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The Dog House Blue's Tea Room
The Dart Station, Howth, Dublin

Been here lots of times before and last night was me and a mate for a girlie chat. We didn't have starter or dessert, just pizza, wedges and coffee. Pizzas were as delicious as ever and I love that you can BYOB...which we did. The staff are really nice and friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. Like another reviewer, I would love if the menu was a little broader, as I would go there more often, however I appreciate that the simple approach that they have keeps the prices very keen. I really like this place and it's a nice alternative to the rather boring selection of restaurants in Howth selling the same old same old tired menus.

Moloughney's Clontarf
9 Vernon Avenue, North Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin

We ate here last night, 2 couples and our young daughter. This is our second time here and have really enjoyed it both times. We all had different starters and main courses and everyone really enjoyed what they had. One of our party had the black sole and she said it was outstanding, it was a house special of the day. We chose the Portuguese red for our wine, which we had had the last time we were here as part of the Monday to Friday 60 euro offer for 2 courses for two plus a bottle of wine. The atmopshere in the restaurant is really nice and I live the way the tables and chairs are all different. The decor is lovely and they have done a great job on the conversion of this old Victorian house. In terms of prices, the standard A La Carte on a Saturday is not cheap, but it's good quality and fair value for money. Service was very polite and professional as before. One thing I really liked was that they do a small children's sized fillet steak, which is a pleasant change from the standard chicken nuggets and chips on offer in most restaurants. A very pleasant evening and I have do doubt we will be back again soon.

Moloughney's Clontarf

Was recommened to us by a friend who had lunch here recently and it didn't disappoint. Decor is very nice and tables are very well spaced, while the restaurant was busy and buzzing, you could have a private conversation and not be overheard. Food was delicious, we both had the soup to start. My husband had the pork belly as main and said it was the best he had had. I had the fillet steak which was delicious. Chose one of the house wine reds, a Portuguese Douro and it was superb, one of the best house wines I have tasted in years. Service was efficient and friendly and appropriate time was given in between courses. We had an excellent night and it was good value for money. We will definitely return...the best meal out in Dublin in a long time.

Toscana City Centre
3 Cork Hill, Dame Street (opposite Dublin Castle), Dublin City Centre, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

We'be been here many times, both privately with my family and also with my work team. We always have a pleasant meal and usually find the staff very friendly. They were indeed very friendly again, but service was a little slow at times. Food was decent as ever, but we were only offered a set menu as opposed to the full menu, which I found unusual, as I have brought groups here before and not been limited to the set menu. In fairness to Toscana, we didn't ask for the A La Carte menu, so I can't complain particularly in relation to this. The team picked a variety of dishes from the menu and all were happy. Price was fair coming in at about 50 euro per head. I will happily go back again as overall everything was good.

We are regulars here and always have a great meal. The staff are so friendly and service oriented. The food was great as always, this time we had the set lunch menu. I had a delicious chicken pasanda and my husband had the beef zafrani nahari.

Okra Green Howth
1 Island View, Harbour Road, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

We are regulars here and absolutely love it. The staff are so friendly, they can't do enough for you. Food is always top notch and they have changed the wine list recently and it's really good. We shared a platter to start and then both had the beef garam masala. Over the course of many visits we have eaten just about every chicken, beef and lamb dish on the menu and everything is tasty, naturally some being more to our preference than others. Being able to use the menudeals voucher is just a bonus, as we get a really good value meal at our favorite restaurant.

Okra Green Howth

We are regulars here and love it and last night was no exception. The staff are so friendly and service is excellent. We were using a menupages voucher and food was superb. We shared the platter to start and my husband had the Goasht Rogani and I had the Beef Garam Masala. In addition to what was included in the voucher, they also gave us a free Nan, chips for our little one, icecream for our little one and free after dinner drinks. What can I say other than we had a superb night! We will be back again in the next week or two.

Chef Ville
8 A, The Crescent,, Monkstown, Co. Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin

Ate here on Friday using a voucher for bottle of wine, starter platter for two and two mains with 2 sides. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We had an early booking, so it was a little bit quiet, but was getting a little busier when we left. Although we were using a voucher, the menu is very good value anyway, so quality versus price is very good. I would definitely consider going here again. If I was suggesting a couple of improvements, it would be a little around the decor could do a with a liven up and the menu itself looks a bit cheap and a small investment in something more professional would be a good idea. However, we really enjoyed it and were given a free drink on the house after dinner.

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)
16 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Bought my brother one of the menudeals vouchers for 20 euro and get 40 euro worth of food. He used it with his other half and said it was superb and food delicious. On 27 Feb, myself and my two brothers went here for a sibling night out. Food was excellent, nice wine and service great. We all had different meals and all loved them. Two of us have been here before several times and like it very much and my other brother, who was there for the first time thought it was great.

Greedy Goose
15 Townyard Lane, Malahide, Malahide, Dublin

6 of us went here last Friday using the menupages deal vouchers. Retaurant atmosphere is very cosy. With the voucher, we had a choice of 3 courses from the a la carte tasting menu, tea/coffee and a desert included. We all had a variety of different choices, but in all cases the food was outsanding with beautiful presentation. The roast beef wrapped in bacon was mouth watering. Fish eaters raved about the scallops. Wine was good value...and we had a lot. Really enjoyed the night out and will definitely be back. A really nice chance to have a good taste of several different meals without being a greedy pig...or goose for that matter.

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)
16 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Like the last reviewer, I ate here last night also. We arrived after 20:00 and had no reservation. The first floor was totallly full, so we were brought up to the second floor. The room was absolutely freezing and I had to keep my coat on until well into my starter before the room warmed up. Apart from that we had a lovely night. Service was not speedy, but we were in no rush so it suited us. We both had Satay to start and then both had a red curry, mine a chicken and my friend's a prawn. We also shared some prawn crackers and had a bottle of the house merlot/nero d'avola. All in all it came to just over 70 Euro which I think is pretty good value. Food was all lovely and we had a really pleasant evening. I've been here before quite a few times and will certainly come back.

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here Friday night with my work colleagues. We were here once before and liked it so much that we came back and we weren't disappointed. The menu is excellent and caters for many and varied tastes. You can have anything from Pizza to Surf & Turf. It also has an excellent early bird menu, which I think they call the Traditional Irish Menu and you can choose from a wide range of 2 or 3 course options. The service was excellent and really friendly and we had a lovely table upstairs, which was perfect for our party of 7. Total price came in at about 350 euro pre tip, but I must add that this included a good few bottles of wine etc. While we were there, one of the lads booked for another night with his girlfriend he liked it so much. Big thumbs up.

Mulino's
23 Watermill road, North Dublin, Dublin 5, Raheny, Dublin

Went here with the family on Saturday night. Had only been here once before and I have to say I much preferred it the last time. Depending on where you are sitting, the atmosphere is much nicer at the front of the restaurant than at the back. Service was pretty friendly and polite, if not a bit slow. Starters were nice enough, I had meat balls, but none of us really rated our main courses. One of our party who had fish, was served their main course warn as opposed to hot. I had the pork special and it was pretty lousy and flavourless, I could have done much better myself. The wine was lovely and they did offer a limoncello free on the house, but I have to say, it would take a bit to enthuse me to go back...shame as I had enjoyed it much more last time. Price wise, it came in just over 200 for 5 people, which comprised 2 startes, 4 mains and 2 desserts with coffees for all and 2 bottles of wine.

Chez Max (Baggot Street)
133 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Was here on a Thursday evening with a pal of mine. We didn't have a reservation and just came in on spec. There was no problem with them accommodating us, but that said, there were plenty of people to create an atmoshphere. Neither of us had started, but we both had main course and desert. The food was lovely, I had a steak and my pal had chicken. The wine list was comprehensive, although there isn't a lot available on the lower price scale. The service was good and we were attended to promptly and efficiently. I have been here before for lunch on a Saturday, seated in the outdoor terrace, which is lovely and feels very 'continental', but this evening we were indoors and it was cozy and atmospheric. I am sure we will be back. Price wise it was pretty average.

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Went here last Friday with the hubby, using our 25 Euro menupoints voucher. We were in at 1830 in time for the early bird offers, which I have to say were excellent value. For 2 courses you pay 19.95 inclusive of tea and coffee or 24.95 for 3 courses inclusive of tea and coffee. Wine was 11.99 for a choice of 4 different reds or 4 whites, we had the Carmenere and while not out of this world, was excellent value for money. Beers on the early bird ar 3.50. I had garlic bread, followed by Lasagna and the hubby had nachos followed by peri peri chicken. Food was good, not outstanding, but very good value for money. Service was polite and efficient and never once were we rushed, as often happens when on early birds elsewhere. The meal was a bargain and we will definitely come back here again for an early meal.

Thai Cottage - Closed
6 Main Street, Kinsale, Co. Cork, Kinsale, Cork

Ate here on Saturday night. Didn't have a booking, but only had to wait about 10 or 15 minutes to get a table. Other half had chicken wings and then Thai red beef and I had chicken satay and thai red chicked. Starters were served on cold plates and hence went cold very quickly which made it a little unappetising. Main courses were piping hot, but in terms of flavour, I would only rate as average. Have had MUCH better Thai meals before and wouldn't go back to this place. Service was fine. Wine menu was very limited. There were only prices on about 3 wines and when I asked the price of a wine that didn't have a price tag, I was told that only the ones with prices were in stock, so that meant only about 3 different wines on offer. Nothing horrendous about this place, but definitely has a long way to go to tempt me again...one last thing, the table cloths are lino.

Man Friday Restaurant
Scilly, Kinsale, Cork

Ate here on Friday night with the other half. Service was really really friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, although I think some parts are cosier than others. We were in the conservatory part and while it was nice, I would have preferred to be down the other end. No sign of recession here, it was very busy, which bearing in mind it's pricey enough, says something. I have the brie followed by fillet steak. Both were gorgeous and I just loved the garlic cheese potatoes. The other half had a goats cheese salad which he said was delicious, followed by lamb and then sticky toffee pudding for desert. We both had coffee and a liquer and the bill came to 150 euro inclusive of tip. Had a really nice evening.

The Chili Club
Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here last night for a bite to eat with my friend. We didn't have a reservation, but were gladly welcomed in and got a super table. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and as it is small, it gave a real buzz and yet not so noisy that you couldn't enjoy a private conversation. Food was gorgeous, my pal had Thai Green chicken and I had the Panang. Ordered the house Sauvignon Blanc which was reasonable at €21 and pretty decent. Service was friendly and efficient but not in your face. Bill came in pretty reasonable (somewhere in the region of €78 for 2 starters, mains, bottle of wine, 2 espressos and a glass of wine. I love this place, but just don't get the opportunity to come here enough.

The Bistro at Ella
7 Main Street, Howth, Howth, Dublin

I love this restaurant and it never disappoints. The manager/owner is a really warm and welcoming person and knows just the right amount of banter to make you feel welcome but not imposed on. I was here with a friend and I had the cannelloni to start, which was just delicious. My pal had the smokies, which she said were great also. For mains we both had fillet steak and both were cooked exactly to our liking. Presentation of food is excellent and each dish has a really nice twist in terms of sauces, accompaniments, etc. We hadn't seen each other in a few months, so we indulged ourselves in both a bottle or Sauvignon and a Portuguese red. There are 2 Portuguese reds on the menu, one the house red and the other at about 30 Euro. I can't remember the name of it, but it's a fabulous big full bodied red, similar to a Ribera del Duero. We both had coffee (probably needed after so much wine). Service was excellent and even though it was a 'school night' and the restaurant emptied by about 2130, at no stage were we hurried to go or made to feel we were keeping them open (which we were). Bill came to 70 euro per head when you include a 12% tip. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Okra Green Howth
1 Island View, Harbour Road, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

Was here for the second time last Friday for the hubby's birthday. We were a party of 7 and had a lovely table in the window. We received a warm greeting from one of the owners. We had a variety of different starters and mains, including one of our party choosing the vegetarian option - which they said was lovely. We also had a variety of naan breads and can particulary recommend the peshwari naan (although it's called somethign else). All our meals were great and our plates licked clean. We chose the house wines, both red and white and both were super and really good value at just €18. I had mentioned when making the reservation, that I was booking for my husband's birthday and after dinner, they brought him out desert with a candle on it and plenty of spoons for sharing. We had a super night and were the last to leave - love it, will definitely be back for more.

Shack Restaurant
24 East Essex Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I took my team from work here before Christmas. About a week before dinner when making the reservation, they only allow you to reserve a table before 20:00 and thereafter it would be first come first served etc. So I asked if I booked for 1830, what time would I need to give the table back and I was told 20:30. So I asked if I booked for 18:00 could I keep the table til 20:30 and was told I could. I went ahead and booked for 10 people. A few days later, I got a call from the restaurant to confirm the reservation and ask me to pay a €100 deposit by credit card. I have never been asked to do this before and thought it very odd, but went ahead anyway and was told that on arrival we would be given a €100 voucher. On the night when we got there, the atmosphere was nice enough and the table was decent for a large group. As we perused the menu, I ordered the wine. The staff seemed to be in a bit of a rush to take our food order and when I asked why, I was told that we had to give the table back at 20:00. I politely, but very firmly assured her that it was a condition under which I booked, that I was told we could keep the table until 20:30. I got a sour-puss look from the waitress and was told she would have to check. She went off and spoke to another staff member who gave us the evil eyes and obviously were giving out about us, but came back and confirmed we could stay until 20:30. Some of us had starters and all were ok. Most of us ordered steaks and they were nice enough too, but a bit on the pricey side for a very average restaurant. Side orders were ok too. A few people had desserts and we all had coffee and liquers. A very enjoyable evening was had, but that was more about the company than the restaurant. It's ok, but I wouldn't rush back.
