Mediocre. I can see the attraction for families with young children or cinema-goers with very few options - other than that, I would not recommend this place. I had the Chilli Con Carne, which it seems is new to the menu. The rice was undoubtedly that which you can buy under the name of 'Uncle Ben's Microwaveable Rice' in your local supermarket. Very average and quite a bit disappointing. The staff though, were very friendly!

Jamie's Italian
Pembroke District, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14 , Dundrum, Dublin

I was quite dubious about eating here, particularly given the reviews I've heard and have read on this website. However, it was a friends birthday and she had her heart set on it. I have to say, I'm glad I tried it out. Yes, it's (on the) expensive (side), but I still quite enjoyed it. I wouldn't think it's a place to go if you're looking for a romantic night (tapas place across the way much better for that), but the staff were attentive, the food was tasty and the atmosphere was more than a little buzzing. Would I go back? Probably.. but only if 'funding' wasn't a huge concern. It's the kind of place you could go for a quick bite after shopping or a more drawn out night with friends. My one suggestion to Jamie & co? Better value on the wine list mate.

Alfies
10 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

From my one experience of this place so far, I can't see how you can go wrong - the cocktails are great and good value, the ambiance in the evening is really chilled but warm and inviting, the food was tasty and again, great value! Four of us ate from the 'apres work menu' & are already planning our next trip back. If the standards & value endure, I can see myself becoming a regular!

Guinea Pig
17 Railway Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

I have eaten here a number of times, usually going for the early bird option, which I always enjoy (even if I do find it really difficult to decide what to have). Last night we ate a la carte, and although it is pricey, the food was top notch. The service here is second to none, and the 'tour of the tables' that the head chef does every evening is a nice touch. I'll certainly be back, although I think for now I'll stick to the early bird, unless it was a very special occasion!

Carluccio's Caffe
52 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Had a quick and casual bite in Carluccio's last night, and was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't previously realised that there was a full restaurant on the premises (I can be very unobservant!). The food (and wine) was delicious, and for them, I would definitely go back. I was a little disappointed when we were brought our bill without having asked for it, although the waitress helpfully informed me that all tables were receiving their bills. Hmm. They were however happy to take our order for teas and coffee, and promptly returned an updated bill to us. It was a little noisy, and I think based on other reviews I'd prefer the upstairs section. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you're hoping for the candle-lit Italian experience, but for casual dining with good quality food, you can't go wrong.

Shanahan’s on the Green
119 St. Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

I never thought I'd actually eat here, I always thought it was far too expensive (though always wanted to anyway!) It was such a nice surprise then, when my father visited from the US & took my husband & I there for because he fancied "a great steak". A great steak indeed! Though we hadn't planned on it, we all went for the Early Bird. There was a good selection, and the Petit Filet was more than enough when you have three courses plus side dishes. The food was divine, I couldn't fault a thing. The service was top notch. The wine was fabulous (though the wine will push your bill up), and as a bonus, the waiter knew the wine list inside out. I had thought it might be a little 'stuffy', but it was nothing of the sort - we all found the atmosphere very relaxed and calm.. and we're already looking forward to our next visit back!

Eatery 120

Have eaten her twice now & really like it. The food is top-notch, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are attentive. Will go back again and again..

Chameleon Restaurant
1 Lower Fownes Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

A large group of ladies (yes.. it was a hen party) ate there just a couple of weeks ago, availing of the very reasonably priced Rijst-Tafel menu. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, right from the moment we walked in the door they were friendly and helpful. We had beautiful crackers while we waited for our food. The food itself was delicious, lots of variety & all of good quality. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated & comfortable - even for those sitting almost on the floor! It worked so well for a group & I would definitely recommend it.

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

After my first visit, I have to say, I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was great, the food was fantastic, and the wine was divine. All of our party had starters, and almost everyone was full afterwards, they're substantial! My only reservation is that it was a little cramped, though that potentially added to the atmosphere. You can have a drink upstairs while you wait & can bring your drinks down when the table is ready, which is a bonus. Would definitely reccommend & will be back.

The Stillorgan Orchard
1 The Hill, Stillorgan, Stillorgan, Dublin

Great place for a relaxing bite to eat & a few drinks. The food is of good quality, and the portions will keep you going for the night. Have been back many a-time & would definitely reccommend.

Alexis Bar And Grill
17 / 18 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Fantastic place for a reasonably-priced, delicious meal! Will definitely be going back. The only drawback, which many other reviewers have highlighted, is the unavailability of some of the dishes on the menu, however we were informed of these almost straight away. The food was top notch, we'll be going back sooner rather than later.

The Purty Kitchen (Dun Laoghaire)
3-5 Old Dun Laoghaire Road, Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

I have to say, I really like this place. It is casual, but that's the nice thing about it. It's always full, so there's a good atmosphere around, and the food really is very good. I was, however, disappointed to see that they've removed the pasta dishes from their menu. I will definitely be going back.

Pizza Hut (Liffey Valley)
Liffey Valley Centre 22 Dublin, Liffey Valley, Dublin

I wouldn't go as far as calling this 'Italian' food, but the pizzas are fairly good. It's pretty handy if you're coming from, or going to a movie (unless the queue is out the door). The service however, is absolutely awful. Unenthusiastic, probably underpaid staff, who look like they'd rather be anywhere else than working there. It's a shame, because if it weren't for that - I'd probably go back.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

This was the perfect restaurant in which to celebrate an anniversary. The service was perfect, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere really set off the night. Would definitely go back for a special occasion!

Brannigans Dundrum
Dundrum Town Centre Dundrum, Dundrum, Dublin

I think some of the other reviews are probably a bit harsh, but having said that - this is not what I'd call a special restaurant. It's an eatery really, standard food with decent enough service. If you're hungry & not too fussed about a very high standard of food, this'll probably hit the spot. It is pricey though, probably enough to put me off going regularly. I can recommend the quesidilla, it is pretty tasty!

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

The lunch menu is truly exceptional value, and the food is delicious. The atmosphere and the staff make it a place I'll go back to again and again.

The Bay Restaurant @ Walters
68 Georges Street Upper, South Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

The food was excellent, though the bill can add up if you have the full three courses with wine - worth it though if you’re after a good meal out, with very attentive and friendly staff. Also liked the ambiance of the place!

Dungeon Bar & Grill
Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Killiney, Dublin

Although I wouldn't say the staff were OVERLY attentive, I don't think we had the same problems as others have outlined. The food however, was really very nice, I would certainly go back, as would the rest of our party, and I would recommend it to a friend.

Sanam Tandoori (Wicklow)
19 Castle Street Shopping Centre, Bray, Wicklow

The food in Sanam Tandoori is really quite good - very tasty - all you could want from an Indian restaurant. Unfortunately the atmosphere is disappointing & does let the place down a bit.

Palazzos - Closed
1 Marlborough Terrace, Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow

I really like the set-up and atmosphere of this place, but the food is good if lacking a little something. I think the word is 'kick'. I do like it, and would go there occasionally as it's fairly local - but I wouldn't drive out of my way for the food (though I've never had the pizzas!). All in all, it's a lovely place with grand food.

Jaipur Restaurant (Dalkey)
21 Castle Street, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

Love this place, the food is incredible - though I've only ever ordered from the early bird menu (which is fantastic value). Great service, good atmosphere. Was recommended to me by a friend, and I keep passing it on to others. If you like Indian, you'll love Jaipur.

Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

I have to say, for great pizzas at a good price in a nice atmosphere, this place is great. Book ahead if you're going at the weekend from around 6:30 on.

Chakra by Jaipur
1st Floor, Meridian Point, Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

Fabulous! Quite possibly the best Indian in the country. Their early-bird (5:30-7) is extraordinarily good value, and the service is second-to-none. It's beautifully decorated with just the right amount of atmosphere.

Casa Pasta & Pizza (Donnybrook)
3 Eirpage House, Donnybrook Road, (Opp Rugby grounds), Donnybrook, Dublin

Fantastic value, especially considering the mountain of food they give.. I had no room for dessert, so I can't comment on that - but main courses were delicious & filling! I would have liked a slightly more intimate comfortable surrounding.
