Restaurant Reviews from mcgettrb
Gotham Cafe restaurant
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 06th September 2010 ( visited 31st August 2010 )Myself and one other person did the early bird menu here, 2 courses for 15 euros which was a great deal. We also each had drinks with dinner and tea and coffee, and it was only 20 euros per person. The pizza was fantastic, the pasta was nice, and best of all the desserts were huge and lovely. The tables are a bit squashed together but we had a back corner which was nice and the service was great. Highly recommend it!
Pizza Hut restaurant
24 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 22nd April 2010 ( visited 15th February 2010 )We had a great meal at Pizza Hut. The food is greasy, but great once in a while, and we ordered the pizza with half the amount of cheese which is much better. The servers are always so friendly. We got unlimited drink deals. And there are always good deals, like the favourites platter for starters, which we got this time. It was another good visit to Pizza Hut and I will be returning!
Merchant's Arch Bar and Restaurant
48/49 Wellington Quay, Temple Bar, Dublin
Had a really good experience at this new restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely- huge ceilings, decorated well, with lovely views of Ha'Penny bridge. The 4 course meal- starter, main, dessert, and coffee/tea for 25 euro is a great deal. The desserts were the nicest part- great selection and very nice. I thought the fisherman's pie was an okay main. My husband's dish came without the mash and this mistake was immediately rectified and it was explained there were new chefs. Great service and lovely atmosphere and the food was decent.
Gourmet Food Parlour Swords
Unit 2 St Fintans, North Street, Swords, Swords, Dublin
I went here for lunch with many work colleagues. Make sure to reserve a table as the place is always very busy and it's tiny so fills up quickly! It's a nice experience- with about 20 different interesting sandwich choices, all served with a lovely walnut and apple salad. The service was quick enough, which was good for a work lunch. The food was decent and reasonably priced at around 7 euro. I wish there was a bit more space though as it felt cramped with the waitresses trying to get by our table. A pleasant experience but would probably be nicer for a smaller number of people.
Smyths Cock Tavern Swords
31 Main Street, Swords, Dublin
I've gone here twice now with work colleagues, once for lunch, and the latest time for dinner. The appetisers platter with chicken wings was particularly nice due to the lovely sauce on the chicken wings. It's usually busy enough and has a nice buzz. The prices are decent for the large amount of food you get, which is mostly standard enough, but nice.
Eddie Rockets (O Connell Street)
O' Connell Street, City Centre North, Dublin
We went to this Eddie Rockets for a late-night snack, and got chips and milkshakes. Both are big enough to share, which makes it better value. The atmosphere is always fun, with quirky signs, but this particular Eddie Rockets can get a bit rowdy late at night, especially as it is such a central location. We had some trouble getting attention from the waitresses, but the food came quickly enough. It's a nice place for some unhealthy late-night food.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Swords)
Pavillion Shopping Centre, Malahide Road, Swords, Dublin
Gourmet Burget Kitchen has a decent lunch-time deal where you can get a burger, chips, and drink for 10euro. I went here with work colleagues and it's a big meal that really fills you up. You can get either the classic, chicken, or falafel burger and I really recommend the falafel burger- it's huge and delicious. The staff is always nice and serves us quickly so we can get back to work on time!

Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Tallaght)
Unit A3 Tallaght Cross Dublin 24, Tallaght, Dublin
I went here for lunch with work colleagues. Overall, the lunch menu was quite decent as there were many options and 10euro covered the meal and a drink. The portion sizes were really huge. I quite enjoyed the cajun chicken burger and chips and was very full after eating the full plate. The servers were quite nice and the atmosphere was pleasant, although nothing fancy.
The Liffey Bar, West County Hotel
West County Hotel, Old Lucan Road, Chapelizod, Chapelizod, Dublin
Five of us went to dinner here. The atmosphere is pleasant enough, but nothing special. The food received mixed reviews. My omelette was spectacular, and there were lots of chips for everyone. However, two people in the party felt they had to send their fish back because it was so undercooked. That being said, the service was excellent, very friendly and kind. They replaced the two undercooked meals with better cooked fish always remaining very nice, which was great. The prices were reasonable for the huge size of the portions. It was an enjoyable experience overall, and we will be returning again.
The Grand Central Cafe Bar
O'Connell Street, O'Connell St, Dublin
I went here for dinner with friends. It's a great place. The seats are comfortable, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the cajun chicken baguette which I highly recommend. The prices were decent, around 11-13 euros for a main dish and the portions were most generous. I highly recommend this place!
The Orchard Cafe
Orchard Home & Garden, Celbridge, Kildare
I went here the other day with a large group of coworkers. We had a great experience. The atmosphere is lovely, very bright and spacious. The food was delicious, with a wide range of options. I tried the ham and leek quiche, which was superb and came with 2 salad options which were decent. Others were quite satisfied with their meals and desserts as well. It was a bit pricey, but worth it for a nice meal out with good portion size. The service was great, and the place seemed clean and friendly. I hope to come here again.
Cinnamon Restaurant at Hilton Dublin Kilmainham Hotel
Hilton Hotel, South Circular Road, South Dublin, Kilmainham, Dublin
I went here for lunch the other day with workmates. Overall, it was a good experience generally. I had the seafood chowder, which was delicious. The prices seemed reasonable enough and the atmosphere was fine, although nothing special. The one problem was that we had some trouble with the service. First, we struggled to get servers to our table when we needed things, such as to order coffees. Secondly, the servers were unhelpful in a few ways. One side of the table got bread and the other didn't. One person had a question about how the food was cooked which was important for his dietary needs, which couldn't be answered. Overall, the experience was good, but not great.
6 Crow Streetle Bar, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
I didn't eat here, but I did order their food for takeaway. The actual food was quite good. Friends and I tried different vegetarian and chicken dishes. The food was a bit pricey though, compared to other Indian restaurants in city centre. The chicken korma was average and the naan bread was pretty greasy. Yet, they did give us free pompadoms and sauce, which was great.
Itsa @ IMMA
Irish Museum of Modern Art, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin
I went here for lunch with workmates. It was a nice place to eat, with a good selection of food. The prices were a bit steep for lunch, around 7 euro for a sandwich and then another 3 for a coffee. But the food was very tasty and fresh generally, except for the side salad. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was quick. I would recommend it.
