Really ike this place. One of the nicest Italinas around. Carbonara is to die for....shame that the beef canelloni is no longer on the menu. A great place for a simple lunch thats great value for money. Im a regular to this place for the last 8 years and quality is still top notch...

Wallace's Enoteca Delle Langhe
Blooms Lane, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Simple Italian at its best Every time I walk through Blooms Lane I notice this place full of customers and positive atmosphere. I knew I had to come here and give it a try one day. The thing with Italian food is its hard to find the true traditional taste of Italy from the many selection of eateries in Ireland. This place was differant though. I came here for lunch with my girlfriend today for a quick lunch while we skipped through the rain pouring heavily above on this busy Saturday afternoon. Staff were friendly and the interior was warm and comfortable - not too exagerrated with the modernised look. My partner ordered the brushetta meditteraneana for starters and the Penne Salmon for the main. I had the Brushetta Bufala and the Tagliatelle con funghi for the main. The Bushetta was fresh and accompanied with the melted mozarella and a dash of olive oil it was simply quite pleasing. My partners Penne Salmon was a bit salty - but the pasta was perfectly cooked. My brushetta Bufala was the brushetta with melted mozarella with sprinkles of black pepper on top - give it a good dash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar (which are available at the table) it was simply delicious - nothing too extravegant. The Tagliatelle con Funghi arrived mintues later and I didnt expect much from a dish that I have eaten so many times but this place had something differant. Althought the dish looks small it was very filling. The pasta was also perfectly cooked and the sauce was to die for. Creamy and mouth watering - each time I finished eating a bit I just wanted more. Nothing on the plates was left uneaten and my partner also agreed that the tagliettele con funghi was delicous cause she couldnt stop taking some from my plate. The service was good with friendly staff and the food quality was amazing and for the value it seemed it could be worth a lot more. Great value and great food - a true taste of Italy - simple, warm and fresh. Im sure I will becoming a regular lunch diner at this place - if you want traditional and good Italian

King Sitric Fish Restaurant
East Pier, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

I went here with my partner to celebrate a special night. We wanted some seafood and heard that this was a good place to try some fresh and tasty seafood. We arrived ther and was told we had to wait for a few minutes for our table - this was ok as we were looking forward to a nice meal. I had the fresh oysters which worked very well on the palate. They were fresh and genorous in size. My partner had the crab claws but these are no longer on the menu. Nothing amazing but nice and simple. For the main course there was the fillet of beef which was very nicely cooked and really tender and succulent. The sauce was to die for and blanketed the soft texture of the beef really well. The other main was the Lobster in Butter sauce. Becasue this is such a simple dish it is hard to find a place that can perfectly cook it. This palce did and the butter sauce was delicous with the lobster. Atmosphere wise, it was a nice meal out. Perfect for a date with a pleasent view of the sea. Staff were admirable but nothing too extravagant and the overall dining experience was not bad at all. Value for money wasnt too bad, everywhere you go nowadays chrage roughly the same amount for a full lobster but most importantly is that the meal tasted good. The bill wasnt too bad as no wine was ordered. I ceratinly love to try the Lobster with Dublin Lawyer sauce...after all this place is worth another trip or 2

Shanahan’s on the Green
119 St. Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

After hearing so much about this place - I had to try it out. I knew I had high expectations of this. The first impression was great, professional and friendly staff enclosed in a warmly atmosphere. I ordered the Oyster Rockafella - and this was perfectly done. The cheese was not too over baked and the warm texture of the spinach matched well with the fresh oysters. Other starters included the poached lobster soup which was very overpowering - the lobster was perfectly cooked keeping its elasticity texture and natural flavour. A crab and potato cake which was absolutely gorgeous. And from this it matched the high quality I was expecting. But unfortunately the inevitable occurred. Our main courses consisted of only steak. A fillet Mignon which was a dote and it melted gracefully in the mouth. But that was the only highlight of the main course. I had a rib eye on the bone medium cooked but it was overcooked. The sauce was great tho and it blended well with the meat but the meat was too tough for my liking. I enjoyed it but it really didn't give me the urge to say it was the best steak ever. I even thought it was too char coaled to my liking. But the bottle of Gigonda washed away any left over taste in the mouth. Overall it was a an experience - the starters were perfect and the main could have been alot better. But for a party of 6 and a 700 euro bill you really would expect it to take your breathe away. Concluding this matter, the fillet would be the best option and do try the crab and potato cake , and also ask for the fried onion strips too. Would I come here again? Of course I will, I don't believe one experience of Shanahan's is worth giving it a bad review as I was very welcomed by the staff and by the warmly atmosphere. Maybe I should go for the seafood option next time. But for the price that was paid you would expect something a little bit more special.
