Unit 453 Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, West Dublin, Blanchardstown, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 15
Reviewed 01st September 2011 ( visited 14th August 2011 )Definitely the place to go for Dim Sum fans in Ireland. Dropped by for brunch. Extensive Dim Sum menu. Quick service, high quality and authentic Dim Sum dishes. Would recommend the Siu Mai. Custard tarts are worth a try as well. Quite pricey but worth it as a occasional treat. Will be back for sure.
Ruen Thai Restaurant

Reviewed 23rd June 2010 ( visited 23rd June 2010 )Went here for lunch and decided to try the 10euro lunch buffet. In terms of the variety of food offered it was not great. For starter there were prawn crackers and chicken tom yam soup available. The soup was quite salty i thought but contained a generous amount of chicken and mushrooms. The main courses offered were prawn green curry, vegetable stir fry, chicken and cashew nut and a beef dish. The sides available were boiled rice, fried rice and fried noodles. Tried everything but the beef. Taste-wise was pretty decent, mild enough but not bland. The buffet is not self-service and the person serving i found was pretty stingy with the portions. Had two rounds of food and was pretty full and contented. Good value for money, will definitely go again.
Yuan Ming Yuan Chinese Restaurant
17 Princes Street, Cork City, Cork
The only place in Cork for Dim Sum, which is a variety of traditonal Hong Kong cuisines. Good quality, freshly made and tasty. If lucky might get the custard tarts and char sui sou pastries fresh out of the oven. The rice porridge is also yummy for those who can appreciate it. Overall selection is also decent. Price is a little steep but is acceptable given that it is only place serving Dim Sum in Cork. Good service as well.
Pier Head Chinese Restaurant
Pier Head, Cork City, Cork
Went for dinner with 2 other friends. Great place for tasty authentic malaysian chinese cuisine. Well worth ringing in advance to request special dishes. Had freshly roasted pork belly, "kangkung belacan", steamed sea bass and pork in yam basket. Attentive staff and reasonable price. Will definitely go again.
French Church Street, Cork City, Cork
Went here for breakfast on a sunday morning. Had eggs benedict, pretty straight-forward dish, nothing to shout about. Would go again, perhaps for lunch or dinner.
Befani's Mediterranean & Tapas Restaurant
6 Sarsfield Street, Clonmel, Tipperary
Went with a bunch of friends. Had crayfish salad for starter, very refreshing. For mains, opted for pork belly, tasty succulent meat. For dessert then, went for tiramisu, pretty basic. Overall good experience, definitely recommend it.
109a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went to dinner with a friend, having purchased the dinner for two deal from Menu pages. Ordered sea breem and the gnocchi for starter. The fish was well cooked, was so tasty and so was the gnocchi. Proceeded to have the rabbit and lamb for main course. The rabbit was tender but taste-wise mediocre and the lamb was delicious. For dessert has the chocolate plate and fruit tart, very good. Excellent service, quite pricey if paying full price, good food. Portions are small but not suprising, definitely worth a try.
47 Gladstone St, Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
Good quality pub grub with a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great selection of dishes, have came across some inventive fish dishes. Reasonable pricing as well. Definitely worth a try.
1 Mitchell Street, Clonmel, Tipperary
Locally, this is a very popular cafe. Went for a quick breakfast, been here numerous times for lunch as well. Had french toast which was pretty standard, and regular coffee. They give free refill of regular coffee here, which is a delight. One of the better places in town for a quick tasty lunch. Numerous wraps and sandwich deals which include soup and salads. Decent portions, quality ingredients and fair price. Also they seem to come up with new specials now and again to freshen things up. Great service. Definitely recommend it.
Lemongrass Restaurant - Clonmel
The Butter Market, Gladstone Street, Clonmel, Tipperary
Went here for lunch. Decided on the bento set meal, had pad thai for main course and tempura vegetables for starter. Also had a glass of pinot grigio which was the house wine. Mild tasting food, nothing to shout about. Nice presentation, for the quality of the food, was a bit pricey. Nice glass of wine. Nice decor, spacious arrangements. Might give this place another try.
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin
Went here for dinner with a group of friends. Nice friendly staff. Started off with some sushi platter followed by teppanyaki dishes. Simple yet tasty sushi. Had king prawn teppanyaki, massive portions, tasty. Plus was very entertaining to watch the chef cook the food in front of us, great showmanship. Good value. Definitely recommend it.
Eddie Rockets - Clonmel
Showgrounds Shopping Centre, Davis Road, Clonmel, Tipperary
Was never a big fan and will never be. Over-priced burger joint. Quite pricey for simple tasting food. Usually end up here upon insistence of friends.
Emerald Garden Chinese Restaurant
31/32 O'Connell Street, Clonmel, Tipperary
Quite pricey for a chinese. Mediocre tasting food, great presentation. Gives the impression that this place is very popular with the locals. Very friendly and helpful staff, the boss went around saying hi to every table and seems to know most people in the room. Not great value, might give it one more try to prove me wrong.
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Ordered numerous tapas dishes and a few glasses of wine. Big selection to choose from. Quite pricey, small-ish portion but is as expected from a tapas restaurant. The place was absolutely busy. Very tasty paella. The only downside was that, both the lamb and tuna steak dishes were overcooked for us. Otherwise an enjoyable experience. Will definitely go again.
Lower Glentworth Street, Limerick City, Limerick
Serves good, authentic south indian food. Two sets of menu available, north and south indian dishes. Have only tried the south indian dishes, quite a selection to choose from. Many types of dosa, my favourite is the ghee roast dosa. The pepper chicken is also quite tasty. Good, friendly service as well.

The appetizers were mediocre. Great tasting pasta dishes. The desserts were amazingly good. Had the tiramisu, one of the best that i've ever had. Good service as well. Will definitely go again.
Ormond Court SC, Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
Limited menu, only a few dishes that are worth trying. Would recommend the salt and pepper pork. The malaysian chicken curry can be quite nice but the dish seems to vary from day to day. Good friendly staff, reasonable price.
Kamboat Chinese Restaurant
Tower House, New Quay Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
Great service, friendly staff. Cripsy shredded chicken in hotpot and vegetable tofu in hotpot would be one of their top dishes. Decent portion, standard pricing for a chinese. Also the best chilli oil that i;ve ever had.
Irishtown, Clonmel, Tipperary
Definitely the best place for a kebab in clonmel town. Decent portion, fair pricing. And the bread for the kebab is cooked fresh everytime.
Planet Spice Indian Restaurant &Takeaway;
8 Mary St Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
Probably the best indian restaurant in Clonmel town. Extesnive menu, reasonable pricing, good staff, tasty food. Definitely recommend it.
The Pembroke @ The Imperial Hotel
South Mall, Cork City, Cork
Went here for dinner with a group of 10 people. Place looked very busy, but still service was very good. Had seafood cocktail for starter, nice but too much sweet chilli sauce in the mix for my liking. Had rack of lamb for main course, was gorgeous, decent portion. For dessert had fruity creme brullee, unique and tasty. Friendly staff.
14 Parnell Place, Cork City, Cork
Dropped by this place for a quick lunch. Good value lunch deal, main course for about 8 euros. Had pork ribs for starter, succulent and tasty, decent portion as well. Had vegetables with tofu for main, huge portion and tasted just ok, not seasoned well enough for me. Good service.
Tramway House, Douglas Village, Douglas, Cork
Went for dinner with 2 friends after work, arrived at 8pm on a Thursday night, the place was packed, and there was a 30 mins wait to be seated. Went back at half 8 and was promptly seated. Quite an extensive selection on the menu. Had combo starter and tom yum goong soup for starter. Decent, nothing to shout about. For main course, had a fish dish from the special menu, stir fried pork with vegetables and prawn green curry with coconut rice. It was delicious and went well with the coconut rice. Too full at the end for dessert. Well worth a visit, definitely will go again.
Tramways Terrace, Old Garda Station, Douglas, Cork
Had lamb hyderabadi and tarka dhal with naan bread. Lamb was delicious, the sauce was sweet and sour and the meat soft and tender. Nothing too impressive about the dhal. Naan was fresh and fluffy. Good service, found it a little expensive compared to the portion served, but still decent value as the quality is there.
Soho Bar and Restaurant
77 Grand Parade, Cork City, Cork
Went for dinner with a 9 other people for a birthday dinner. Simple decor and the set up was very casual, didn't feel like we were in a restaurant at all. Interesting selection in the menu. Decided to have the scallops with lentil ragout for starter, quite tasty. Then had the rack of lamb, cooked medium, a simple tasty dish, succulent and juicy. For dessert had the flourless chocolate cake, very rich, a must for chocolate lovers. Good and friendly service, reasonable value taking into account the quality of the food and the selection available.
5/6 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City, Cork
Went here for dinner with a friend on a friday night. Quite a busy place, had to wait a while at the bar to be seated. They have a cocktail menu, so decided to sip some long island iced tea while waiting. Nice interior and you get a view of the kitchen. The tables though are placed too close together. Shared a large portion warm ginger and soy chicken salad for starter, tasted great, definitely recommend it. For main course decided to have warm seafood salad. Main course was a bit slow to arrive, and the monk fish was missing from my seafood dish. Alerted the waiter and a separate portion on monk fish came soon enough to be added to my main course. Tasted delicious. Shared a warm chocolate brownie for dessert, tasted so good. Very satisfied apart from sitting to close to other customers and the small blip with the main course.
Paul Street, Cork City, Cork
Tried the early bird menu. Opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio instead of dessert, pretty decent wine. For starter had seafood chowder, quite tasty, decent portion. For main course had the roast leg of lamb, big portion but tasted so-so and meat was over cooked. Friendly staff and good service. Will go again to try the more extensive ala carte menu.
15 Maylor Street, Cork City, Cork
Went here for dinner after work with some friends. Had a special offer that day, free drinks with food including beer and wine. Ordered the steamed fresh sea bass with chilli and ginger, asked for mild. Fish was obviously not fresh, but the sauce tasted delicious and still quite spicy. Most dishes don't include rice. The waitress got some of the orders mixed up, gave one of us a chicken dish instead of pork and fried rice instead of boiled rice, but we didn't mind on this occasion. Had banana fritters for dessert, quite interesting. Would try this place again sometime in the future although not too impressed on this occasion.
Kudos Bar @ The Clarion
Lapps Quay, Cork City, Cork
Went for a quick dinner with a friend. There was a early bird menu but opted for the ala carte menu. Had the Singapore Noodles, tasted ok, decent portion and quite generous with the ham and prawn. Friend had priking pork curry which was much tastier. Shared a chocolate mousse cake, it was to die for! One complain about the food is that it was too salty for my liking. Price was just right. Service was quite slow that night. Nice decor, and it's essentially a bar attached to a kitchen. Looks like a good place to hang out and have a drink.
Adelaide Street, Cork City, Cork
Went for dinner with 4 other friends after a movie at the nearby cinema. Nice decor, loads of antique from the city with a lot history all around the place. Nice and cosy ambience. Ordered the seafood pasta, not too creamy and generous with the fish, just the way i like it. Others had lasagne, absolute chicken, burger with goat's cheese and steak, everyone loved their food, simple stuff but delicious. No long wait for the food. Friendly and courteous staff. They've even got a wireless call bell on the tables to get the staffs' attention if in need of anything. Overall more than satisfied, will definitely go again especially since the pricing is not too bad and the quality is there.
The Newport Restaurant Cafe Bar
Paul Street, Plaza, Cork City, Cork
Went here for dinner because of they have a big tv to watch the world cup final. There are 3 storeys to this place and the decor is pretty decent. It strikes me as a good place to organize a function. Had the set menu, 2 courses for E15.90. For starter had chicken and mushroom vol-au-vent, which was tasty and the portion generous. For main course had fish and chips as recommended by the staff, was quite disappointed. The fish was too brown i.e. fried for too long and was made up mostly of the batter. Huge portion of chips and some side salad as well. The staff were nice and service was good but the main course was a big let down. Will probably go again to try out some of the other main courses.
8 Oliver Plunkett st, Cork City, Cork
Went for dinner with two friends. Had the calabresse pizza, it was quite interesting and tasted good as well. Friends had pizzas from the leggera range and they liked it. The base was light and fluffy, the topping just nice and tasty. The staff were nice and friendly but the service was quite slow.
4/5 South Main St, Co City, Cork City, Cork
Went to wagamama for dinner on saturday night with two friends. There was a que to get in but the wait was not long. Items on menu did not look too exciting for me. Two of us had the chicken katsu curry and the other went for yaki soba. Didn't take long for the food to arrive despite the busy night. Tasted the katsu curry, definitely nothing to shout about. Breaded chicken with some sort of curry sauce with rice and salad. The taste reminded me of fast food. The yaki soba i thought tasted better but there was more noodles than anything else. Had the choya plum wine as well, nice and sweet. Overall the experience was average, price-wise not too expensive but it's not exactly cheap either. Might still drop by sometime in the future to give this place a second chance.
Gourmet Burger Bistro
8 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork
Dropped by to try their lunch menu, five different types of burger for E7.50 served with a small portion of chips. Also an additional lunch special was advertised, some sort of salad with strawberries and lentils for E5.95. Had the lamb burger, decent size and surprisingly filling. Quite tasty especially with the tzatziki dip. Small portion of chips, enough to keep me happy. Very good value for lunch, will definitely come again. Friendly service as well.

Swung by here for some snacks while shopping in town. Great place to have ice-cream. Tasty and good value as well. Have some unique flavours such as hazelnut. Good service as well and friendly staff.
Closed, Cork City, Cork
Went here for dinner with parents. Very friendly and helpful staff. One thing about the menu that struck me was that the options are fairly limited and may not be for everyone. In the past there were specials which were not listed in the menu but this time there none. Had the mushroom soup, pretty tasty but a tad bit salty for me. For main course had lamb, very tasty. Mom had the duck, which was very good and dad had the halibut which was so-so. For dessert had the creme brule' which was tasty. Oh, the other thing about this place is that they always give complimentary gazpacho and such between courses which is always a delight. Overall very happy. Will definitely go again.
