Joey's Hideout
Lower Main St, Kilcullen, Kilcullen, Kildare

My wife and I were travelling to Kilkenny and had to pull off the M9 for fuel. We ended up wandering in to Joeys as it was the nearest toilet facilities to the garage. After a nosey peek at the menu we decided that hunger was getting the better of us and so sat down to choose something off the menu. I ended up going for the chef's house burger and my wife went for the seafood chowder. The burger was cooked very well and there were lots of trimmings too. It was really very tasty. My wife loves chowder and said that it was excellent with lots of fish pieces and a beautiful sauce. The service was very good too with the server/barmaid on hand if we needed her. Price-wise the whole thing came in under €20 which was not bad at all in this day and age. The only thing that we didn't like about the place was the lack of atmosphere. We couldn't see why there were very few people , maybe 6, in the place. We thought it offered something for the weary traveler and so we decided that if we were passing again to stop in for a bite to eat.
