I've been here on numerous occasions over the years (the last being new years eve) and i can't fault anything. The food is tops and the fillet of beef is the best in galway (never less than perfect). On my last visit there it was priced at 30euro (give or take a couple of cents) I could say the same about the duck which is fillet of duck. They charge extra for veg tho which i dont agree with. The toblerone cheesecake is the nicest ive ever tasted also. The service is fantastic, ive never had to ask for anything twice The staff are very professional and efficient. I only wish there were more like this in galway.

Marco Polo not live
O'Connell Street, Limerick City, Limerick

we ate here recently... It's a nice big open restaurant with a good atmosphere and a good service. for a starter i had calamari which was tough but tasted alright...i havent ate calamari before so i didnt know what to expect. The waiter was very attentive and was asking how everything was very soon into my starter. for main course i orderer a fillet mignon to be cooked well done and after approximately 30 mins it arrived burnt. The waiter who was very attentive asking how everything was didn't come near us to ask how the main course was. It was obvious to all it was badly burnt on both sides and it shouldnt have been sent out at all. I sent it back and ordered a steak fajitas as it doesnt take long to cook and this was edible but no replacement for fillet mignon. No sooner had i started this and the waiter was over asking how it was funnily enough. My wife had pasta carbonara and she said it was good. The staff were very apologetic but as i said..it should never have been sent out in the first place. They were very decent about it in the end though. For desert i had cheesecake and it was probably the nicest cheesecake ive ever tasted. The location is ideal also for a nite out. I would probably eat here again but i just probably would order something other than steak.

The Blue Bayou
Raheen Wood Hotel, Athenry, Galway

A large group us ate here on friday nite and there was a wedding on here on the nite. The restaurant was half full when we arrived. The restaurant is quite modern and trendy inside. We all had starters and most of the group were happy with their soup. I had the bacon and leek tartlet and I thought that this was delicious. Most of the group ordered steak as a main course. My fillet was barely warm as was the mashed potato under it when I got it and it wasn't very tender and the price of this was 28euro. I got my steak and my veg was left on another table with other stuff while the waitress was sorting out the wrongly cooked steak which didn't make me happy considering what I had was barely warm as it was. The veg was a bit dry but edible and the onions were very good. The top of the steak was decorated/garnished with very thin strips of burnt onion which I removed as it wasn't very edible. My brother in law ordered his sirloin well done and it came out pink so he sent it back. It was huge however and I was curious so when I tasted his it was really tough so you would need your teeth for this. He was quite happy with it however. One of the girls ordered fillet medium rare and although it was medium rare it was also cold so she sent this back and got a different piece of fillet but it was well done this time...she gave up at this stage and ate it regardless. Her partner wasn't impressed with his steak either but ate it regardless. My partner had chicken provencale and she thought it was bland. The rest of the group were reasonably satisfied overall.. The service overall was acceptable though the girls were very nice and obliging. They did all they could possibly do and it must've been embarrassing for them having to return some of the food. We didn't stay for desserts. Im pretty sure this will be my first and last time here unless things improve or they get a different chef.

White Gables Restaurant
Moycullen Village, Moycullen, Galway

I ate here on 15/2/09 It's a lovely place with a nice atmosphere, cosy and comfortable. I ordered fillet of beef and this along with striploin was 32.50 which is pretty steep in my opinion when you have to pay an extra 3.50 for veg. A main course should consist of meat, veg and potatoes in my opinion and this policy of charging extra stinks in my opinion. The food was near perfect tho and altho the fillet (well done) was slightly burnt around some of the edges it was still near perfect. My wife was less impressed with this being an ex chef. I only had main course and dessert which was cheesecake and this was as good as you could possibly expect. The service was ok overall. The owner/manageress was very attentive to all our needs but i did have to ask the waitress twice for something on two occasions ( the tea and the bill). It may have been her first or second day there tho so ill forgive that even if her head was elsewhere. So, for 101eu we got 2 fillets 2 desserts 1martini+7up + 1 corrs lite 2 teas
