Went here for dinner on Saturday. Although I was not keen on Carvery (notions of mass cooked food reminds me of my college days!), my husband loves the meat spuds and veg dinner so I agreed - anything for a break from the kitchen! I ordered the plaice, veg and potatoes, while himself had the beef dinner. My opinion on carvery has done a U-turn, the food was absolutely gorgeous and the portions were huge. The staff were very friendly, however I did feel it was a little over-priced for carvery

Jasmine Palace (Limerick)
O'Connell Street, Limerick City, Limerick

Had a very enjoyable meal here with my husband and a few close friends. The services was tip-top, and the food was absolutely gorgeous. We were in for about 6.30 which allowed us to opt for the early bird menu, excellent value, and deliciously tasty. Starters; Mains; Desserts; Cappachinos; bottle of wine,(with a coke for the driver!) was settled for less than €100.00. Definitely the best value for quality food in the current climate. Well recommended a visit!

Lemongrass (Liffey Valley)
Arc Bar, Liffey Valley Centre, West Dublin, Lucan, Dublin

Unlike the last delightful visit to this resturarant, I was a little disappointed with the service this time round. Having booked a table 2 weeks previous (momentous date wanted to be sure of a table), there didn't appear to be a note of our reservation in the book, reluentantly we were given a table. We waited 10 minutes before being given the menu. We ordered and the staff were very friendly, and the food arrived promptly with the usual beautiful mouth-watering aroma. We shared duck pancakes and prawns in filo pastry. finger-lickin' stuff! When our main courses arrived we had no cutlery and waited while the staff member sandered off and disappeared for 4 minutes before returning. This slightly took from the enjoyment of the meal, but once tasting the sizzling prawn orange all was forgiven! Looking forward to returning again shortly!

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )
St Stephens Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Having not been here for a while, I was disapponted with my recent visit. Only for the fact that a large hen party arrived while we were there, there was no atmosphere in this place at all. The service was extremely slow, with us waiting a half hour for our meal. The portion sizes have dramatically decreased, which in general is not a basd thing, except you could could teh few chips on the plate.. They seem to have cut back on the delicious chip dipping sauce which tehy used to give too. €110.74 for lunch for 4 people is a little pricey when all your getting is chipper food. Won't be hurrying back here.

The Yard Restaurant
3 Lower George Street, Wexford Town, Wexford

Myself & my husband took my mum here for a vbelated Mothers' Day meal. I had the duck salad for starters, mum had prawns and himself hard warm ceasar salad. Yum all round, I didn't know which plate I wanted to eat off the most. For mains we ordered the special which had monk fish and womething... ; Vension and the pasta dish, again spoiled for choice! Each dish was tastier than the next, ooozing with flavours and everything was so tender. And of course, dessert just had to be had. Great value meal for 3 with a bottle of wine and 3 cokes, defo go back herer again.

Marco Polo not live
O'Connell Street, Limerick City, Limerick

Went here for lunch, and was mucho impressed with the place, the service, the staff and the value! It felt like we had no sooner ordered when the dishes arrived steaming hot and were finger lickingly tasty. Chicken salad had the most devine oriental sauce. Feeling full afterwards, we initially declined dessert, but after catching a glimpse of the toblerone cheese cake we said we'd share one... One became two as it disappeared off the place! Best ever, and to top it off, when paying we discovered this place offers a loyalty card, whereby you get €5 voucher for every €50 spent, a great incentive to return!

Encore Café
Units 25-26, Blackrock Shopping Centre, Blackrock, Dublin

Came across this place while in the shopping centre and initially popped in for a coffee and cake. On reading the menu we decided on having a late lunch instead. I ordered the chicken which came on a gorgeous bed of couscous and roast vegetables. My husband had the fish and chips. The food was extremely tasty and satisfying. The service was swift and friendly, and the place was buzzing. The prices weren't outrageous either. Well worth a visit to this place.

Roma Cafe (Mullingar)
Mount Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

A take-out with sitting. I've had take-out from here a few times, and the chips were devine. Decided to eat in while in town doing a bit of shopping, bad idea unless you fancy coming out smelling like you've bathed in the fryer. My clothes stank on take-away food. Servcie is not all that friendly, and the place itself doesn't inspire return visit, and the prices weren't all that reasonable for what you're buying. It works better as a take-away than a "Cafe".

Canal Bank Cafe
146 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Visited here for a team lunch during the week. Shared the most amazing chicken wings (the old favourite!). 5 of us had the Cod fillet which was absolutely gorgeous and oozed with delicious flavours, and was well complimented with mouth-watering sauted potato . The remainder of the party went for the steak sandwiches which were equally enjoyed. I'm happy to say our lunch hour was jsut about that, services was alot faster than our last lunch-time visit here, Planning the next visit already!

Cons Bar
Dominick Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

I was a little disappointed with a recent visit here. There were no free tables, so we were given a seat at the bar to wiat, no problem with that, however it was then taken for granted that we would sit at the bar - a tad uncomfortable when you've got a severe back back. Service wasn't to the quality previously experienced, and the food was mediocre. It appeared like mass produced carvery. I ordered a toasted wrap, which after at least 20 mins waiting, it appeared not very toasted, with a couple of pieces of what tasted like boiled chicken. In the current climate, one would expect better value than to get 2 lunches mid week (ex starters; drinks etc) for €24....

Little Caesars (Harcourt Street)
The Harcourt Hotel, 59 Harcourt Street, City Centre South, Dublin

This has to be the best value place for lunch, garlic mushrooms, chicken wings and garlic bread (shared of course) followed by pizza, washed down with a coke, for 3 people for less than 35 quid, all within a lunch hour. Can't do much better than this!

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here last friday afternoon for a late lunch with some friends. I arrived 1 hr late, so the rest of th crew had a drink or two! The restuarant did not have any problems with us frequenting the table for this length of timw without ordering. Food arrived very promptly, with a very friendly service. The food was so tasty, it left the mouth watering for the next flrk full! Forgetting that the service charge was included, we left another tip! No regrets tho', well worth the experience.

Red Bar (Pillo Hotel)
Pillo Hotel, The Rath, Ashbourne, Ashbourne, Meath

Ate here while on a break at the hotel. The food was georgeous and the staff were extremely friendly. The restaurant was very quite, and although the surroudings are really lovely, the place did lack atmosphere on the night. This did however work to our advantage as we had one-to-one customer services from the staff! Our package included dinner, which all in, was great value. The restaurant does offer an eralier bird menu which appears to be excellent value. That coupled with the friendly and helpful staff, I would definitely recommend a vist here.

Golden City Chinese Restaurant
9 Market Square, Enniscorthy, Enniscorthy, Wexford

I often get a take out from this place - and have yet to be disappointed The services is fast and always accurate, however the staff at the counter can often be a little snappy - I don't like this place for sit down as the atmosphere is not the best as you tend to feel a little anxious with the staff sstanding watching like birs of prey ready to snap your sishes up just as you lift the fork to your mouth with the final few monthfuls. Although it is nice to be asked is everything ok - usually by the initial person who served you, more often than none, each of the servers will stop by your table - which becomes a bit of a nuisance - over service can be worse than poor service! Don't let that take from the delicious food however, the take-out cartons are always jam packed with food (and not the sloppy juice you tend to get in some places) with chunks of tender meat and perfectly cooked veg in just teh right amount of sauce, take-out from here is definitely recommended for those nights in with a bottle of wine and hassle-less eating! Delivery to the door doesn't impinge in the quality or temperature of the food either.

Pasta Bella
54 Austin Friar Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

This place now offers a very competitive early bird, and the food; quality & service in no way is compromised, definitely a place to dine during the week for excellent value at €18.95 for starter / mains / dessert / tea_coffee. Extremely efficient and friendly staff, and a very warm atmosphere and buzz around the place.

The Chocolate Bar
Common Quay street, Wexford Town, Wexford Town, Wexford

A beatiful spot in town for up-market bar-food at a very reasonable price. The only problem I had with this place was trying to decide from some wonderful dishes what actually to settle on for lunch! In the end I ordered the chichen ceasar salad, which comes with a portion enough for two - or in my case a starving one with leftovers. My friend had the chicken gougons which came with the most delicious sweet chill sauce, chips and salad. The atmosphere was really relaxing, and the staff were very friendly.

Westgate Design Restaurant
22a North Main Street, Wexford Town, Wexford

I love this place, the food is delicious and the flaovurs are amazing! Side salads like you've never seen or tasted before. On my recent visit, I ordered the gormet chicken burger which had teh most beautiful pesto mayonaisse, something so simple when you think of it!, and something so tasty I've been making my own ever since! The price initially seems a little expense, but when you receive your meal, the portion; the taste; the quality and hte satisfaction on eating it are all priceless. The staff were extremely friendly, and hot food (which is ordered at the counter - so you get to choose your sides there and then!) is delivered with a smile to the table. A must for a tasty lunch/afternoon coffee with the most beautiful desserts!

La Dolce Vita (Wexford)
6-7 Trimmers Lane, Wexford, Wexford Town, Wexford

Met some friends here for lunch. Sat outside in an area designated for eating and free from the hustle and bustle of town traffic (vehicles & people!). Soaked up the sun over a galss of wine and a beatiful itialian dish. It felt like we were in Italy. During our meal the waiter called around to our table to ensure everything was to our satisfaction, and returned moments later with a basket of beautifl breads to soak up the remainder of the delicious delicate sauce which remained in the bottom of our pasta bowls. Yum! And at such great value, a must place to visit!

Cafe Noir - Castletroy
Park Point, Castletroy, Castletroy, Limerick

A friend suggested this place, and to be honest I didn't know what to expect weh we pulled up outside the Travel Lodge. On entering the premises, we were greeted with the friendliest staff, and the wonderful atmosphere. I was suprised to see that the prices were very reasonable as the place itself is out on its' own with the beautiful decor. We ordered and ate the most enjoyable meal in complete silence (appart from the groans of satisfaction from each mouthful). Among the group was a 2 year old child, who was treated like a princess by the staff, and entertained by colours and drawings, and general chat by the waitress who certainly knew how to deal with children. When we finished our coffee and desserts, we were surprised that the evening had passed and we in such a relaxed environment. It is great to enjoy a meal in such a lovely place and not feel rushed by the staff for the table. A place definitely worth a visit, can't wait to return!

Juice Zone (Mullingar)
Castle Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

If you're out for a great lunch at exceptional value, this is the place to go. With room upstairs to sit in and enjoy the comfort and atmospher, and enjoy a soup and panini at recession prices. Service is very good, and the food was gorgeous. Value for money for lunch doesn't get much better her, and the selection of treats to accompany the coffee afterwards (or juice/smoothy if you're not a coffee fanattic!) are so good they're bad!

TriBeCa
65 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Ate here with a group of friends for lunch. We were the first table in for lunch, but disappointingly we were the third table to receive our food (similar items to those received by the other tables). I accept that we were a larger group 8 as opposed to 3&4 at the other tables, but hey we were hit with a 10% service charge which should have made up for this.... I ordered my usual Tribecca 3, which consists of the famous chicken wings; chips & salad. I was for the first time ever disappointed with the wings which were dry and hard with crispiness. As for the usual stick of celery - this had been reduced to a quarter stick. Please put more sauce on the wings - that's what they are famous for!

Kealys of Cloghran
Old Airport Road, (Off Airport Roundabout), North Dublin, Cloghran, Dublin

Went for Sunday Lunch here yesterday. Food was very nice, but a little over-priced for a Sunday lunch. My husband had the roast beef which looked as soft and tender as cotton wool, nice! I was disappointed to find that the chicken in the Caesar Salad was not marinated like it said, rather it was slices of roast chicken heated in the microwave which made it a little dry. The Ceasar dressing made up for this, however there was a little too much of this present. Crotons were a bit to charagrilled for my liking. I think I'll be going for the Sunday roast next time.

The Cheese Pantry
104 Drumcondra Road Upper, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

Had a fantastic lunch here recenetly while waiting on my friend in the hairdressers nearby! Fantastic food, and efficient service, was a little disappointed to discover that they do not stock Diet Coke, quickly got over that when a very nice cappochino arrived! Well worth a visit, and fantastic value for money. Opens at night too, so am gonna give that a go some evening soon.
