I have eaten in Spice of India and had take outs from there many times. It offers a delicious alternative to other take-away facilities. The food is amazing and never fails to please... they serve a massive range of dishes and their Naan bread is fantastic. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely with dim lighting and dark colours offering a haven of relaxation. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices for take-away food can be a little expensive but it's more than worth it. Definitely the best take-away place this side of the city (and possibly in the whole of Cork)

Curran's is in a handy central spot in Cork city. I was there a couple of Friday nights ago. Service is ok...staff aren't overly chatty and we ended up having a different waitperson serve us for each course which isn't great. I had the seafood pasta which was good..the portions are a nice size, not massive. The desserts are very good in there, especially the chocolate cake. All in all it's a nice place but a little bit pricey

Luigi Malones (Cork)
1-2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork

I've been to Luigi Malones on a couple of occasions. There's quite a buzz about the restaurant, it's generally fairly busy. There's a nice range of starters and the portions are pretty big. In my opinion, the best main course to go for is pizza, they're massive and have a lovely thin crispy base. The desserts in there are fab too; definitely try the Toblerone cheese cake - it's a real treat. Overall, Luigi Malones is a nice restaurant but I feel it's more suited to groups..you can tend to feel a little in the way if there are only two of you. The staff could do with being a little more friendly. The prices are a little bit high but not ridiculous.

Indigo Brasserie - Closed
16 West Washington Street, (opposite the Square deal), Cork City, Cork

This is a gem on Washington Street. It offers a nice and relaxing atmosphere on the bank of the river. The service can be a little bit slower if it's busy but the staff are very friendly. There's a great wine selection and the coffees are good too.

Scoozi!
2-5 Winthrop Lane, Winthrop Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

Scoozis can generally have a bit of queue but it's worth the wait. The standard of the food isn't unbelievable but the variety of the menu and the size of the portions means that it will satisfy any person; whatever their inclination. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. There is a busy atmosphere that adds to the buzz of the place. If it's your birthday, they'll bring you out your dessert with candles and the whole restaurant generally joins in to sing you 'Happy Birthday'. Be sure to get your dessert for free if that's the case!

Quay Co-Op Vegetarian Restaurant
24 Sullivans Quay, Cork City, Cork

The Quay Co-op is fantastic vegetarian restaurant. I have eaten there for lunch on many occasions. I would recommend the veggie-burger, it's tasty and filling. It can sometimes be a little bit dry so ask for plenty of tomato sauce. The food in there is fresh and filling. The staff are helpful but because of the lunch-time rush, they aren't the friendliest.

Flaminco
88 North Main Street, Cork City, Cork

I went to Casanova with my family for a big dinner. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the portions large enough but not overfilling. The desserts there were also delicious. The atmosphere is lovely; candles and wooden furnishing. Also, the staff are nearly all Italian so that adds to the authenticity of the place. They also provided us with a complimentary shot of lemon cello...gorgeous! I would highly recommend it!
