Dined here last night. The place was packed. Met with coldness and abruptness when waitress asked if we had a booking. No hello! Had to ask to be served. Very little interaction with staff throughout the meal. Food was delicious but soured by the service. I am a regular here and find the service is very hit and miss which makes it hard for me to return! Please sort out the staff!

The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin

Always packed here when I come! I love the food! Service can be a bit slow but the waiters are always racing around. Think they could do with one or two more on duty. Very polite and friendly.

Marios (Terenure)
103 Terenure Road East, Dublin 6, Terenure, Dublin

I've dined here for years as it's nearby, but I've found the quality of service has declined over the last year. Staff can be unfriendly and aloof. Definitely not as keen to return here. I used to regularly order and collect 2 pizzas as they had a takeaway deal but they have since removed the deal, meaning two takeaway pizzas (without delivery), cost the same price as they would if you were to sit in.

Toscana (Dun Laoghaire)
5 Windsor Terrace, South Co. Dublin , Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

An average dining experience. I thought the set menu of a starter, main course and soft drink/beer/wine was overpriced. Soft drinks were flat. Toscana used to offer a side with several of the main dishes but does not any longer yet still charges the same price. The menus displayed in the bathrooms have not been updated to the 'no side dish' ones. We were charged for the garlic on our pizza which I though was a bit mean. Nice served but wouldn't be rushing back here.

Mayfield Deli & Eatery
Terenure Road North, South Dublin, Terenure, Dublin

I expected great things from Mayfield following recommendations from a friend. I was a little disappointed however. Upon arrival, a waitress walked pass us without so much as a hello or smile. We asked the waitress whether it was too cold to sit outside and were advised (in a nice way) that it probably was. We agreed and went to follow her to a table. We were then approached by who I assume was the manager, who said there was rain forecasted and that he wouldn't serve hot food outside. We found him to be quite snappy and his comment to be unhelpful and unnecessary. As a vegetarian, I found it difficult to choose something from the menu. Lots of goat's cheese and beet root which unfortunately, I don't like. The decor in the restaurant was almost quirky but just a little off. The walls are quite rough looking and the place was not very comfortable nor cosy. I'm sure Mayfield will continue to be just as popular but just isn't my cup of tea.

Castle Cafe and Restaurant
Blackrock Castle, Castle Road, Cork City, Cork

Beautiful location and restaurant. A cosy atmosphere. The menu was perhaps a bit limited. I had a Caesar salad. The other members of my group had pizza, fish and chicken. Overall, we found the food to be delicious. Our waitress was very polite and friendly. Desserts were great and there was a great selection, however, they were way overpriced. The food is a little overpriced and that is the restuarant's only failing point.

Riverside Cafe - Skibbereen
North Street, Skibbereen, Cork

Had a lovely experience here. Postitives were the selection of juices and smoothies, beautiful locations and nice food. We ended up sitting by the sliding doors which led to the courtyard. Some of the staff were very conscious of closing the door as they went in and out, others not so much which meant we were conscious of being in a draft for a lot of the meal. My sister's soup was cold so she sent it back to be heated. 10 minutes later it arrived back at which stage myself and the other member of our group had nearly finished our meal. The same happened with the desserts. Apart from that, we found the staff to be friendly and polite and food was delicious.

The Pink Elephant - Cork
Harbour View, Kilbrittain, Co Cork, Kilbrittian, Cork

Quite disappointed with my experience at The Pink Elephant. Only one vegetarian option available (none available on the main menu). I do not like ricotta cheese and therefore this option was out for me. I ended up getting the vegetable soup and a bowl of chips. Exciting. Three of my group ordered the burgers which we sent back half eaten. These 'homemade' burgers were not homemade afterall, which was let slip by the staff. After making a complaint about the burgers the manager took great offence and explained that no one had ever had a complained about them and that the burger which had been returned on the table behind us was returned because the lady (a teenager) was 'half pissed.' In fairness to him, he did take the cost of the burgers off our bill. Location is lovely but the mediocre food and heavy price tag just does not cut it.

Neon Asian Street Food
17 Camden Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Wow, I love this place! Went here tonight for the first time and I will definitely be back. Quick and polite service, great food, good prices (cans of minerals for €1; deal!) and all topped off by the ice cream machine. The place itself has a great atmosphere, lots of quirky details like doggy bags for you to take, chopsticks and cutlery, cool decor. A real gem which, I wouldn't have known about were it not for my friend. Would highly recommend. (Bring a flake for the ice cream!)

L'Officina by Dunne & Crescenzi (Kildare)
Kildare Chic Outlet Shopping Village, Kildare, Kildare Town, Kildare

I was very disappointed with my trip here. The lack of choice in Kildare Village meant we ended up going here. We went to the 'fast food' section of the restaurant where you can get a few different sandwiches, ice cream cones and coffee. Was intitially irritated by the que of about 12 people ahead of me; fast service was not their priority. I watched the lady in front of me get served the incorrect meal twice all while the rude waitress huffed and puffed. She then asked for a cup for her can of soft drink. This too was a big inconvenience. I ordered a coffee (all overpriced) and an ice cream (which at this stage was half melted as I had to get it from the ice cream stand at the other end of the café). The waitress did not greet me in any way and when I asked for a glass of water she pointed at the bar. I will definitely not be returning here even if it is one of the few options there!

Angus Joe's Steak House
Main Street, Naas, Kildare

I went here with my family last week. Was recommended to us by a friend who lived in the area. Looks small from the outside but the outdoor menu and Early Bird specials ads caught our attention. Much bigger inside. Modern and quirky interior. The meal itself was lovely, my only critique being that the starter (a bruschetta) was quite small. The best part of the evening was the wonderful service. Every one of the staff there was extremely polite and mannerly. Re-filling water glasses, stepping aside to let you pass etc. Little things but it was the attention to detail that made the difference. Would definitely come here again, pity I do not live in the area!

D'arcy McGee's Pub and Restaurant
Spawell Complex, Templeogue, Dublin

Had a meal here last night. Great selection of steaks, curries, wraps, nachos, fish etc. Polite and friendly staff. A little slow with the food however. Great food. To be honest I was surprised as would not have thought of The Spawell as a place for good food but I would definitely return here.

Andersons Foodhall & Café
3 The Rise, Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin

Popped into Anderson's for coffee and a snack. Upon arrival, we were more or less ignored by the staff and had to ask was there any tables free. The waitress stated that there was a table paying now so it would not be long. After watching 2 tables of people leaving and hearing nothing from the staff, we took it upon ourselves to take a seat. Eventually we were served by a waitress who seemed unhappy to be there. When asked were all the desserts available she simply said 'they are written on the menu.' She did not clear the dirty dishes left from the previous group until we asked her to do so (perhaps an honest mistake on her part). My pepperment tea was nice as was the scone. The main courses looked quite nice too. This would have been a very charming little place were it not for the atrocious service.

profile_review

Juice Vegetarian Restaurant
9 Castle House, South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

My first time at Juice after hearing lots of good things. The menu was nice but contained lots of ginger and corriander (which if you hate you can taste in anything!) I had a pasta dish which was full of flavour. Small enough portion but it was for lunch. I would definitely return here again.

profile_review

Teddy's Grill & Ice-Cream Parlour
Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin

Great atmosphere and lovely staff but the food left a lot to be desired. My Caeser salad was one of the worst I've had. Wet lettuce, hardly any toppings, the sauce that was there was watery and tasteless. My friend had a steak which was very small and average. His vegetables were burnt (difficult to do!) The only thing that would pull me back to this place is the the free drinks refill policy.

profile_review

Alfies
10 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This place is a great find! The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Myself and a friend got the lunch deal with consisted of a started, main, side and soft drink for €10. DEAL! The dishes are served altogether in individual bowels on a long plate which was interesting but worked. Food was pretty good, my only complaints would be that the chips were a bit too chunky and the Caeser salad was quite fishy tasting. Otherwise, the whole experience was excellent. Beautiful decor, polite and helpful staff, good food and great value.

profile_review

Botticelli
3 Temple Bar, Temple Bar, Dublin

This was an average experience. There was basically no atmosphere (although you can't fault a place on that as it was off-peak hours). Waiter wasn't the friendliest, considering we were one of onky 2 tables he had to serve. Food was fairly average. Great price but not the best food. While I would go back here again for the lunch deal cost, the food would and has turned me off returning unless I'm broke! The Service and Value buttons wouldn't let me move them, but I would give service a 2.5 and value a 4.5

profile_review

Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here as part of a staff night out during the 'Dine out in Dublin' week. Atmosphere was great, cosy yet open and lots of people but not too noisy. As I'm quite a picky eater I found the menu quite restricting with too much fish. Chips tasted of old oil which was a bit of a turn off. In general, I enjoyed the night

profile_review

Bombay Bistro
55, Main Street, Rush, Rush, Dublin

This is a nice place. Good size portions and good service. The chicken pieces can at times be a little large and fatty which, is a major turnoff. Apart from that though, I would definitely return here.

profile_review

Er Buchetto
71 Ranelagh Village, South Dublin, Ranelagh, Dublin

Just the kind of place Ranalagh needs. Very small but really lovely. Staff were very friendly and made me a panini which wasn't on the menu. Good atmosphere and not too costly. Have been and will be back

profile_review

Cafe en Seine
39 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

This place is a work of art, I stop in here almost every time I pass just to look at it. Went here for lunch with a friend. I chose a sandwich type thing and he went for the soup. Neither were particularly spectacular and the prices were nothing to write home about either. I have not been here in the evening time so perhaps things improve then. Wouldn't be rushing back there soon (although Ill always pop in for a look!)

profile_review

Bewley's Café
Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I really love this place simply because of its decor and atmosphere. Plush, sophisticated yet personal. I had a mid morning snack here with my friend. Hot chocolate with marshmallows. Delicious. She had a latté with a croissant which she enjoyed. I think that coffee prices in Dublin are way too extreme and this was no different but if you want to go somewhere nice this is the place.

profile_review

The Two Sisters
4 Wainsfort Drive, Terenure, Dublin

A very disappointing experience. Went here with my parents. Between us, none of us were happy. Steak sandwich included anything but steak. Not great atmosphere, perhaps it would be better at night. Very 'thrown together in the back of a kitchen' type thing. Let's just say I won't be rushing back here again.

profile_review

Lisa's Trattoria
81 Terenure Road North, South Dublin, Terenure, Dublin

The exterior of the place does little to entice anyone inside, which accounted for the lack of people in the restaurant. Waiters were not the most polite. Food was acceptable but nothing amazing. Perhaps if the decor was to be updated and cleaned a little it would improve the situation.

profile_review

Brambles Café Bistro
102-104 Terenure Road North, Terenure, Dublin

Myself and my boyfriend ate here at lunch time. The decor was lovely. Atmosphere wasn't amazing but it was lunnh time. Seemed to be very popular with the over 70s. Food was nice but nothing amazing. Prices were to high and this would be my main deterant iin returning. Perhaps if there was some lunch deal it would attract more.

profile_review

Zen
89 Upper Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin

As I am not a big fan of Chinese cuisine I tend to stick to the 'safe' options. Sweet and sour chicken was nice enough, nothing to write home about. Atmosphere was a little strange. A few tables Full yet very quiet. Good service. The people I ate with found the place to be quite nice.

profile_review

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here with a group of 6. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great atmosphere with a live singer. Beautiful decor. Good service. Great toblerone cocktails! Would definitely return here. The only downside of the place is the price - a little costly.

profile_review

Zaytoon (Lower Camden Street)
44-55 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

I love this place. Reminds me of being in Turkey or the Middle East. I tend to buy the chicken meal deal which includes chicken pieces cooked in a tomato sauce, lettuce, red cabbage (I ask for it without this) and 2 sauces. A side of chips (which can sometimes taste very oily) and a can of soft drink. Portion is large and I'm always full afterwards. Great music, friendly staff. I have eaten here in the evening which is quiet but atmospheric and late at night which tends to be the drunken stop for many but is good fun. I'd recommend it for all

profile_review

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here but was unable to get a table at the time. Returned an hour later, waited a few moments at the bar and were seated. I, being an extra-ordinarily picky eater was worried about what I would eat eventually settled on the chicken. I was not feeling altogether confident about this but when it arrived my mind was eased. The dish was extremely flavoursome, really rich. My partner had the muscles and said they were good but perhaps a little small and not the best he'd ever tasted. They came with a bowl of delicious chips. When the bill arrived I expected to see a huge figure but it was cheaper than some of the average restaurants and yet you felt as though this was a little more special.

profile_review

Eddie Rockets (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Unit K (cinema block), Level 2M, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

Ate here with a friend. Although I like Eddie Rocket's I never find there food to be paritcularly amazing. Perhaps if the prices weren't so steep and didn't keep rising I would eat here more. The new special of a burger, chips and drink for 9.99 really appealed to me (someone who'd never touch an Eddie's burger) but to find that the Dubdrum branch had written on (not printed, but written) the signs that the offer was only available Sunday to Thursday till 5pm. What a joke! How come this is the only branch who are doing this. Who eats out at those times on those days? Very tight of the Rocket crew particularly as they prey on a young, student market.

profile_review

Da Mario
Maynooth Road, Celbridge, Kildare

This was a nice enough restaurant. Service was very good. Portions were not the biggest and my friend ordered the Caeser salad which I dont think would be given the name Caeser salad in any other restaurant. Overall though, I wouldn't object to eating here again but there was nothing spectactular about it either.

profile_review

The Porterhouse (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow

Ate here with my family who had dined here before and liked it. Typical pub setting. Unfortunately we got seated beside a family with around 6 children, none of whom were controlled or had ever been told 'no' in their lives. Apart frm this, service was good, food was nice. I got the burger which was a bad choice as Im never a fan of a big hunk of meat but that was more me than the food. Would eat here again and I'd say it would be lovely in the summer, sitting outside

profile_review

The Cedar Tree
11a St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Good atmosphere - nice to be in a restaurant that is different to the usual run-of-the-mill places. Good music. Food was average, I think it's the kind of place where you really have to know what to pick and when you do it's excellent. I ended up getting something very simple which was a little flavourless. Food was a little bit pricey too.

profile_review

La Caverna Restaurant & Wine Bar
12 Fownes Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

This was one of the many times I have eaten here. I have quite a high opinion of it in my mind but in reality I am actually always a little disappointed. Myself and a friend dined here and although we just missed the early bird menu (which I would usually get and have to say is good value) we availed of the buy one pasta or pizza get one free offer which was excellent and meant that we could order a drink and desert and the night was still reasonably priced. The service however is not great and its not the first time I have found this. On several occasions we found random plates being snatched off our table, waitresses leaning across us, no smiles, no apologies after a mistake on the bill was called to their attention. It was a pity because this lack of manners has and will make me think twice about returning here.

profile_review

Millers Pizza Kitchens
50 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here for dinner a few years ago and have always had fond memories about it. Went here for lunch about 2 months ago. On arriving we realised that everyone had booked ahead and a big deal was made about letting us in. Food was nice but it was far more expensive than I'd remembered. Don't know if I'd be rushing back

profile_review

Howards Way (Rathgar)
8 Orwell Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin

I have only eaten here for lunch. I enjoyed the food and I had one of the best hot chocolates here. Good range of options for a reasonable enough price

profile_review

Bellagio
92 Terenure Road North, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin

An adequate restaurant - food is nothing spectacular. When I ate there the atmosphere was also adequate, not a huge crowd but we were early enough. I have not returned and although it was nice enough it would not stick out in my mind as a place on my top list

profile_review

Toast
Rathmines Road Lower, Rathmines, Dublin

This is nice for a bite to eat if you're looking for something not-too-exciting or are staying for a few drinks or heading on somewhere. Atmosphere is good. I'd recommend sitting at a table rather than trying to perch, balance and eat from the couch. Nice for lunch. Food is not anything special but it's good

profile_review

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I really like this place and it is seen as a treat to go here, something to get dressed up for etc. which is nice. I have been here once for dinner but several times for the lunch meal. This is very good value for what you get and I have to say the food has always been good. I am very picky and tend to steer clear of meat. I find it difficult to get something to eat which I will actually like. I have got the goat's cheese tartlet every time I have eaten here which is nice for what it is. I'm not the biggest fan of goat's cheese and this causes a slight problem, I have to eat around it. If you are picky or a vegetarian think twice but I like to fill up on the delicious soup and bread and on the bright side...I always have room for desert!

profile_review

Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

I like this place although I rarely go as it is not that near to me. I've always found the food good and not over priced. Atmosphere can be good at times but can be a little too family-filled so if your looking for a place where children are not a feature avoid it. Overall, a good restaurant

profile_review

Bijou Bistro & Wine
46/47 Highfield Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin

This used to be a regular spot for myself and my family but for some reason we've drifted away from it. My family really enjoyed the restaurant but I (who tend to be a little picky!) found it difficult to find something to eat, I ended up with a Caeser salad which was nice but maybe not quite what I would have wanted. Overall though a nice place, at times perhaps a little expensive

profile_review

Marios (Terenure)
103 Terenure Road East, Dublin 6, Terenure, Dublin

I agree with a particular previous review. This use to be a regular haunt but for seem reason I havn't been pushed with it lately. It has all become very tired - food, service, atmosphere etc. Good as a reliable but nothing exciting and can at times be hit and miss with some of the meals.

profile_review

Eddie Rockets (Terenure)
Terenure Road East, South Dublin, Terenure, Dublin

I am a complete convert to Eddie's since they introduced their new menu. It boasts a page full of meal deals which are great. I think the prices before were too high and turned me off going but the new menu is great and has really broadened its range. Myself and a friend shared the Tender Meal and a Veggie Burger, both were really good. We also had nachos, which were good but I've had better. The new Aero malt/milkshake is good too. Good service, goo food, better prices. The Terenure one is always quiet enough, clean and has parking.

profile_review

Paparazzi
Unit 4 Old River House, Templeogue, Dublin

Food was reasonably good. Service was also reasonably good, it was busy so all staff were very busy. I was unaware that there would be live music and this was a lovely surprise, really felt like I was on holidays! Definitely go again for the music, pity it's only on one night a week

profile_review

Mexico to Rome
23 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Myself and a friend had the lunch menu here. Appeared to be great value but in reality it wasn't that good. Portion sizes were quite small. Food - not great. Obviously the atmosphere was not great as it was an early lunch. Good service. Has the potential to be a lot better if it got the food sorted.
