Il Baccaro restaurant
Meeting House Square, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 10th December 2008 ( visited 10th December 2008 )went here a couple of weeks ago with a group of friends. I found the menu really unusual for an Italian - mainly because there was no pizza on it but also there were very few pasta dishes so I had to go away from what i would usually order in an Italian restaurant. i had the prawns for starters and they were divine! for the main course i had the stuffed squid which was amazing as well. I had a side salad but i think it would have been nicer if i ordered a side of potatoes. I shared a desert which was also amazing. the restaurant was not cheap but it was very resaonable for the quality of the food. I will definatly go back here and i will recomend it to a friend.
The Steps Of Rome restaurant

Reviewed 09th July 2008 ( visited 06th June 2008 )I had heard great things about this place so when myself and a couple of friends wanted something cheap to eat i suggested we come here. Overall i was quite disappointed. I ordered a pizza which i found quite bland. Two of my other friends got pizza and they thought the same. My friends boyfriend ordered meatballs and although I may be biased as i don't eat red meat I thought they looked disgusting. I wasn't the only one to think that although he said they were ok. The restaurant had some good points in the service was really good and the staff were friendly and it was quite cheap but I found the restaurant very cramped and that combined with the blandness of the food meant that I will probably not go back here.
Hop House / Kimchi
160 Parnell Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin
We were in a hurry when we came in here to grab something to eat before going to the cinema so I was a little stressed when it took half an hour for the food to come out after it was ordered. However, they were very busy at the time so this was to be expected. I gave a low score for the atmosphere since we had to sit in the bar in a dark corner beside the kitchen but again this was just because they were so busy and we hadn't booked a table. The food was delicious and excellent value so I would definitely eat here again.
Hailan Korean & Japanese Restaurant
65 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I ate here last week with my boyfriend as he had been before and recommended it. The food is very good value and comes in huge portions, we ordered two starters and two mains and didn't manage to finish them all. With two beers the total bill came to just over €40. The staff were friendly and willing to talk us through some of the menu options to help us to decide what to order. I would definitely eat here again.
Baan Thai (Leopardstown)
Central Park, Block P, Dublin 18, Leopardstown, Dublin
This is a nice restaurant although a little hard to find. I liked the decor and the way the seat were sunken into the ground. The menu is very comprehensive, perhaps too much so as I found it very difficult to decide on what to eat. In the end I went for the prawn tempura for started while my boyfriend had the chicken satay. The prawns were nice but the chicken was delicious. For mains I had the crispy seabass which was lovely. My boyfriend had the pad thai which was nice but not the nicest he has had. The food is pricey enough and I'm not sure that it deserves that price. I enjoyed it but not sure that I would go again.
4 Rathfarnham Road, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin
I went here with a menu pages voucher on Tuesday. We booked for 6.30 so the restaurant was very quite when we arrived, however, by the time we left it was quite busy. The food was delicious. I had the chicken wings and the surf and turf, followed by the 'junkyard' cake, while my boyfriend had the ribs, the sirloin steak and the same cake. The only fault I would have was that the waiter seemed to mix up how we liked our steaks cooked - my boyfriend likes his medium to well-done and his came out bloodier than my medium. However, he still agreed that it was delicious. The staff were very attentive without being over bearing and as we had the voucher that meal was very good value. I would definitely dine here again.
Lemon Tree - Dunmore East
Seafireld coxtown, Dunmore East, Waterford, Dunmore East, Waterford
I ate here with some friends. Its a fairly average Chinese restaurant. I got the crispy beef which was nice enough but a bit gloopy. The others got chow mein and duck both of which were quite nice but nothing special. When the meals came out they had the wrong dish for me as they had taken the order wrong. The fixed the error fairly quickly. However, they were not overly apologetic about it and did not offer anything to make up for it. I wouldn't go back in a hurry.
The Hollywood Inn
Hollywood, Hollywood, Wicklow
I ate here with a group at the weekend. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and eager to help us out. The food was delicious and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I would definitely go back. Its a great choice for a casual dinner out.
Madden's Bistro @ Clew Bay Hotel
James Street, Westport, Mayo
We eat here quite regularly. Its fairly simple food served in a pub type atmosphere (although there is a restaurant down the back which is usually closed) but the food is always tasty and good value.
The Idle Wall Restaurant
The Quay, Westport, Mayo
I ate here on Saturday night with my boyfriend. Everything about the place was great. The staff were lovely and attentive, and the design of the restaurant has a lovely old-time feel to it. For starter we shared the seafood platter and for mains we got the monkfish and the duck. Everything was delicious but the monkfish was divine! I would go back just for that! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Langton House Hotel Kilkenny
69 John Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
I stayed here with family using a menupages deal. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are great. Breakfast the next morning was also very nice. However, I was a bit disappointed with the dinner. First of all the waiter as a bit strange and seemed to turn his nose up at my sisters order. I had looked at the menu online and the food looked delicious but the menu we were given as part of the deal was much more restricted and there was not as much to tempt me on it. In the end I went for the chicken stirfry with noodles which tasted like a poor quality of something I would make at home. Everyone else was happy with their food but nobody raved about it. While I would happily stay in the hotel again I would not eat in the restaurant.
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
I have been to Milanos loads of times and i always think of it as somewhere cheap and cheerful. Not particularly exciting food but always a safe bet. Sunday was my first time going to the one in Dundrum. Myself and my boyfriend popped in for a quick dinner before heading to the cinema. The place had no atmosphere at all. This may have been because it was early in the evening but it was packed even at that time. It had about the level of atmosphere you would expect from a burger king. The service was fine, they were busy but we were not waiting for too long. The main problem we had was with the food. I ordered a chicken pizza which was fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with it either. My boyfriend ordered the lasagne and i have seen bigger childrens portions of food. The must be rationing the mince in there because the lasagne had one layer of mince about a milimetre in thickness sandwiched between two pieces of pasta with some runny sauce and cheese on top. its shocking to think that a restaurant can get away with serving such ridiculous portions of food. I always thought of Milanos as really good value so it was quite a shock to the system to leave the place grumbling about being ripped off. I will not be back.
The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
The Westin Dublin, At College Green, Westmoreland Street, City Centre South, Dublin
we went for the early bird menu at €18 for two course or €22 for three. the food was amazing. two of the starters were huge but the scallops was quite small. almost everyone ordered steaks which were huge and apparently delicious. I ordered the trout which was perfectly cooked. I would definately recommend the early bird here as it is a huge saving on what the food normally costs in there. The only expensive part was the wine.
Dylan Hotel, Eastmoreland Place, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin
We went here for the menu pages night out so this may be more a review of that than of what the dylan is normally like. I was very disappointed by the whole night. there was a good crowd so the atmosphere was good and the staff were nice but the food was bland and served in tiny portions. I paid €50 for a three course meal with wine and i got one and a half glasses of wine (if you wanted you glass refilled you had to find an elusive waitor and ask for more and then they would just give the dregs of a bottle) and after eating i wanted a bag of chips! for starter i had the chicken terrine which i dont even remember it was so bland, for the main course i had the sea bream which to be fair was delicious but it was served on a bad of mash with prawns and crab meat that had no flavour at all.

Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham Village, Rathfarnham, Dublin
Yummy yummy yummy!! I have eaten here once and had take away from here numerous times. the buffet is really good and good value. they have more options on their take away menu than on their restaurant menu and i would highly recommend the chana saag and the chicken biryani with garlic naan. the food here is so tasty that i have difficulty stopping myself from ordering from here at least once a week!
Wagamama - Stephen's Green
St Stephen's Green Centre, South King St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I came here 2 weeks ago with a friend because I had a voucher and I had heard great things about the food. I had been warned in advance about the seating arrangements and that they bring out the food whenever it is ready and do not try to have all the food for one table ready at the same time so this did not bother me. If I had not been expecting it tho it might have annoyed me. I ordered the seafood ramen and my friend ordered a vegetarian noodle dish (I cant remember the name of it). My dish was very plain. It tasted just like a bowl of water with some noodles in it and I couldn't even get a flavour off the sea food. My friends dish however was delicious (I ended up eating lots of hers because mine was so boring). While I did not enjoy my dish I would definitely want to go back here and try something different. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and I did not feel rushed at all. I would recommend eating here, I would just not recommend the ramen!
Farrell Street, Kells, Kells, Meath
I really like the food in the round tower. I have only eaten here a few times but they have a really good menu with lots of options. The last time I ate there I had chicken with garlic (I cant remember the exact name of the dish) but it was really yummy. I wasn't even particularly hungry but I ate the whole thing just because it tasted so good. The only flaw I would have is that the service was a bit slow. It took us at least 45 minutes from when we ordered until our food arrived but that hasn't been my experience other times I have eaten there.
Wong Palace Chinese Restaurant
Carrick Street, Kells, Kells, Meath
I find it very difficult to find a Chinese that does good quality food but this one almost makes it. I got take away from here last week and I got the shredded chili chicken which was yummy. The food did not taste greasy at all but when I washed the container at the end it was clear just how much grease was in it. Also my sister just got a portion of curry chips and the curry sauce on them was not nice at all. Overall this is a reasonably good place for Chinese takeaway and they have a very fast service (I phoned in my order and by the time I had driven up it was ready) but I don't think I would ever bother eating in the restaurant.

O'Sheas Clonskeagh House
Clonskeagh, Clonskeagh, Dublin
I went here for lunch with friends a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping to order off the menu because it looked so good, however when we got there it was carvery only. I don't normally like carvery food but this was really really good. I had the fish and roast potatoes and veg and everything was really nice. It is also a really nice pub to go into, very old looking yet clean. I would definitely go back here again.
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
this place is amazing! one of my favourite restaurants in dublin. i have eated with my boyfried here a couple of times and we both really love it. the yaki soba is amazing and the squid tempura side dish is gorgeous as well.
