Great food, excellent wine, reasonable value & very pleasant staff. I've only been here once but had heard lots about it from friends. I love noodles & must admit that I was not expecting a great meal. I suspected that the food maybe of poor quality and it be over priced. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was very busy yet we given more than enough attention from the staff. The food was delicious, the ingredients were obviously very fresh. Overall this is a great place. Well done to the staff & management.

Old Bray Road, Cabinteely, Dublin

Gorgeous food. Good, speedy service and pleasant atmosphere. Not a bad thing to say!

Barry and Browne
Unit 1 The Mall, The Park, Carrickmines Retail Park, Carrickmines, Dublin

Really nice atmosphere, a nice change from the chain coffee shops. Yummy latte and gluten free apple & cinnamon tart. I would have liked to have had a salad though, but there were none on the menu.

Fallon & Byrne (Dun Laoghaire)
People's Park, South Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

I had the baked cod which was really yummy and the potatoes and vegetables were full of flavours. My hubby had the steak, which was nice too. Pleasant atmosphere, a bit pricey but nice for a special occasion. The service was good but not top class, had to pour our own wine/water and such (which I don't mind at all) but I did feel that it would be nice to be offered top ups, when you're paying a good chunk for the experience. That said, we'll be back and I'm sure we'll enjoy it again.

China Sichuan
The Forum, Ballymoss Road, Dublin 18 , Sandyford, Dublin

I really like this place. We have company dinners & lunches here every so often. The food is always delicous. They really know how to cook excellent chinese food. The desserts are always super authentic asian ones which is often the case in Asian restaurants. They have lunch offers, 2 courses for €15. I'm a big fan. However, there is one little thing that bothers me everytime. I'm a slow eater and they always clear the entire table while I'm still eating. They don't just take the plates away, they take glasses, candles... anything that's there except what I'm using/gripping onto. I wish restaurant owners would teach their staff basic manners.

Wrights Findlater Howth Restaurant
Findlater House, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

Not impressed with this place. It looks nice from the outside but that's about as nice as it gets. Nothing was pleasant. We were sent to the 1st floor which was okay. We waited a few minutes to be seated and were given menus while being seated. However, we were not offered drinks or to order our food for another 15 minutes. We had our 10 month old son with us and asked for a high chair... we got one but they didn't seem to pleased about having to "look for one". The menu is pretty dull & bland but they have a good choice of dull & bland food. I ordered the roast beef. Our food came out promptly. The beef was not fatty & tasteless. But the biggest disappointment was that I got one table spoon of potatoes, 5 fine beans & 5 tiny slices of carrots. It was well presented but a carvery in a pub would have been a lot nicer & much better value for money. I don't like big portions but I'd like to feel like I have actually eaten after my dinner. I'm not sure if this place would be better on a different day, it was Mother's Day and the Prawn Festival was on so Howth was BUSY. They didn't seem to like having customers.

Woods Restaurant - Closed
Main Street, Roundwood, Wicklow

This place is super. We've been here about 5 or 6 times and it's always been fantastic. The food and excellently presented. The meat and veg always taste superbly fresh. The restaurant is always warm & cosy. The staff and service has never failed to impress us. I think it's a fabulous restaurant overall.

TGI Friday (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Overpriced junk food. The service is always great and I love the free refills. However, it's appauling value for money and the food is usually pretty bad. I've eaten, burgers, chips, salads, fajitas here on different occassions and I've never been happy with what I was eating. It's not that I'd be expecting something healthy but the food is always extremely greasy, lacks any flavour & appears to have been just thrown together. You can't fault the floor staff though. They are always friendly and ensure you have everything you need, albeit in a tacky manner! If the food was cheaper it might be exceptable for a cheap handy meal but for the price the quality leaves a whole lot to be desired.

Ruairi Maguire’s Bar & Organic Kitchen
Dundrum Town Centre, Sandyford Road, Dundrum, Dublin

Lovely pub but terrible food. I went in here with my friend for a drink, bite to eat & catch up. It was a Monday evening so there was hardly anyone in the place... to be expected. There were noisy televisions on roaring out TG4 rubbish or RTE noise in Irish. I can speak some Irish but it was just noise coming out of the speakers which was really ruining the atmosphere and distracting to say the least. It's like a sports bar gone horribly wrong. If you're going to have TV on at least put something suitable on. We asked for TV in our area to be turned down but the girl (very helpful/friendly) couldn't turn one down without the others and seemed to have been told to leave them. Anyway that aside, the pub decor etc is very nice, although not traditional at all but lots of cosy seats and areas. Both my friend & I had caesar salads and they were disgusting. The lettuce was not crispy at all, bacon was fat square pieces that you would not eat willingly, even the croutons were a funny colour and texture. It was very disappointing and I don't think I'd bother going back.

Milano (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Always nice to eat here. The food is remarkable and never disappoints me. We ate here for a hen party recently & everyone enjoyed the food. Each dish was full of fresh ingredients and flavour. The staff are always friendly & keen to help with any special requests. One thing that I never noticed until now is that there's no alternative to Italian at all so if someone in your group doesn't like pasta or pizza at all then it's unlucky. Although, I personally don't know anyone who doesn't but apparently some people in our group didn't like either!!! Has always been a pleasure to eat there.

Douglas & Kaldi Terrace Cafe and Restaurant
Level 2, Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin

This place is a little hidden but is worth a visit. It's ideal for a bite to eat at lunchtime or an afternoon snack. It's ideal for meeting friends for lunch/coffee and it's much more pleasant than any of the mall cafes. The staff are all extremely helpful, friendly & polite. They seem to enjoy their job and enjoy having customers. I had a Roma Ciabatta which I have to say was nice but not great. It was a little bland in flavour but I was probably just unlucky. It seems everyone elses food was delish. I look forward to going back there again.

Villa Rose Hotel
Main Street, Ballybofey, Donegal

A pretty disappointing meal for a 4 star hotel. The food was nicely presented but looked much better than it tasted. I had salmon as my main course & it was dried out and tasteless. We had ice-cream for dessert which was icy rather than creamy. It tasted like the cheap Tesco value ice-cream. The staff were pleasant and polite. There was no atmosphere in the place because it has a hotel dining room feel and when there's not many people in the room it really lacks any sort of charm. It's deffinately very over priced for the quality of restaurant.

Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin

Disappointing. Both the food and the service was very poor. I brought my husband and mother-in-law there for an afternoon bite over Christmas. I have always liked the pub and area but this is my second recent attempt at sampling the cuisine and sadly the second time I've been disappointed. Our waitress was pretty useless. Took our order after waiting for almost 25 minutes. Although she explain the kitchen was very busy and our food could take up to 30 minutes, it actually took 55 minutes from the time of ordering. I can't say that the staff were rude but certainly not friendly or helpful in anyway at all. In the whole time we were there, we were never asked if we wanted another drink, were okay or happy etc.. which I thought was strange. The area we were sitting in wasn't busy at all. On a number of occassions I over heard waitresses chatting together and complaining about their shifts and pay!! Not a bit professional, especially while we sat there with empty glasses and without food. Our food was also a big disappointment. I had the swordfish which I thought was presented very poorly. The fish itself tasted very good but the sauce it was served with was cold and the vegetables were over cooked or reheated. We also had the vegetable kiev which was like a giant crispy pancake but tasted like dough, it had no flavour and tasted like a cheap Tesco value frozen dish. My mother in law took one bite out of her dish and ate her vegetables. The waitress didn't ask if it was okay or even notice that she didn't eat her dish. Highly disappointed.

Chandni Restaurant
174 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Shame, it used to be so good. Both my husband & I have eaten here many times before but hadn't been here since June. I have to say we were both disappointed with the food, poor value and the staff. The staff are always pleasant and try to be helpful but they all seem somewhat uncomfortable around people! It might sound strange but I think they're not in the correct job. The food was okay. We had a mixed platter as a starter which was just okay. I had Chicken Biryani which I found lacked Chicken and the sauce was very watery. My husband loves Chicken Tikka Masala and has had it there countless times before but this time he actually said it wasn't great. Again he found the sauce to be poorly made, lacking flavour. We both suspected that the sauces seemed somewhat cheaply made. There were very few people in the restaurant when we were there but my husband waited a very long time for his first drink. We saw them bring it to the wrong table but then they didn't bring it to us for a further 5 minutes!! I was disappointed also with the value. It seems they haven't reduced their prices, the quality has certainly dropped and there were no specials available (except a €30 deal for 2 courses which to me is not a "deal"). Sadly I don't think we'll be going back to what used to be our favourite Indian in the area :-(

Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

The atmosphere made it "Great". Were there for a 30th birthday dinner. Thought it would be relaxed and quiet. In fact it was brilliant, they had 2 singers and a guy on a keyboard. They did cover versions of lots of different songs. At first we thought it was a bit naf but after a while it improved and ended up being highly entertaining. 2 of us out of the party were not drinking and still had a brilliant night. It's an ideal spot for parties and group nights out. The food was very good too and didn't disappoint us at all. The service was also excellent and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was a little bit pricing but overall I think the entertainment really raised the value aspect. Would deffinately go back there again.

Avoca Handweavers
Kilmacanogue, Bray, Bray, Wicklow

Fabulous food, a little bit on the expensive side for cafe food but well worth it as treat. The salads are fantastic. Buns, scones & coffee are all perfect. The restaurant itself is not the most relaxing place but is great for a quick and healthy lunch.

Three Qs
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

Great food, superb service. Stumbled across this place while looking for food in Greystones and we were pleasantly surprised. Had a budget 3 course meal and it was very tasty and very reasonable. The guy who served us was very attentive, pleasant & seemed to be happy in his job (which is so often not the case). The interior is contemporary & comfortable. Smashing little place for a good value meal out.

Poppies (Enniskerry)
The Square, Enniskerry, Enniskerry, Wicklow

Too expensive for the overall quality. It's a cafe with restaurant prices. Good cakes though. Terrible coffee. If you're in Enniskerry on a wet summers afternoon or sunny afternoon it's still an ideal setting. I live fairly close to Enniskerry and would like to be able to rate this place higher but I can't based on my previous experiences here. Seems like it's for tourists who will never bother returning so it doesn't matter how expensive or bad the coffee is.

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)
16 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Super little place. Great value! The food here is amazing. Very authentic and fresh tasting Thai food. The restaurant itself is a little small & out dated looking. The service is impeccable. I've been here many times for lunch & for dinner and I've never been disappointed.

The Coach House Pub & Restaurant
Roundwood, Roundwood, Wicklow

Much improved menu & prices. We live nearby and eat here about once a month. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Before now we found the menu bland and expensive for what you get. Since the prices have been reduced and the menu has changed it has deffinately improved. My husband had the chicken and cheese baguette with chips which wasn't anything special but was okay! I had the chicken floretine which was nice. The chicken and potatoes were plain but good quality. The sauce was a little watery and the spinach was bland but nothing was bad just not exciting. Overall I think the food is average for pub gub but is has improved. Formerly I would have rated this place as below average. I think the menu is priced for tourist trade and is still too expensive for the quality of food served. It serves pub grub and I wouldn't class it as a restaurant.

The 4 Vales Bar @ Woodenbridge Hotel
Vale of Avoca, Arklow, Wicklow

Food is average, staff are rude, location is pleasant but would not go back there again. We were at the hotel for a wedding and stayed overnight so ate breakfast & dinner there the following day. The staff were slow to provide menus, take orders for drinks & food, got the order wrong but huffed when we mentioned it. Most annoyingly they were never friendly and we felt like we were a burden on them. I've eaten there before and found the same problems but I thought I was just fussy, but this time all 8 people in our group thought the same. Even the staff who served food & drink at the wedding were grumpy and snappy. The decor in the bar & restaurant is out dated and looks unclean rather than traditional irish. Really, really disappointed as the location is perfect for Sunday lunch.

Millers Pizza Kitchens
50 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Good atmosphere for a group or couple but the place/table space is very small. The pizza's are great, very different. However, there are very few options for non-pizza diners which I thought lets the place down. I know it's a pizza kitchen but not everyone can eat pizza. They have just 3 pasta dishes which all were a disappointing choice. The service was just okay too, the staff are very friendly but not "quick". We waited at least 30 minutes before they took our order. Overall it's above average but only slightly.

Bates Restaurant
Main Street, Rathdrum, Rathdrum, Wicklow

Part of me doesn't want to write a review on this place as it's such a gem I feel like I want to keep it secret. My husband & I ate there at the weekend & both of us were blown away. Firstly, the place itself is gorgeous. The setting off the main street is quaint & charming with a traditional feel, oozing charm & character. The food was extremely delicious and presented in impeccable fashion. The owner clearly is proud of his restaurant and is wonderfully passionate about food. The prices were very reasonable, we actually found it cheaper than our local pub and at least 100 times nicer. We will without any doubt be back to this place over and over again.

An Sugan
41 Wolfe Tone Street, Clonakilty, Cork

This place came highly recommended by an extreme foodie friend of mine. I have to say it was "nice". The service was okay, the food was good but it wasn't anything special. I had chowder which was a bit weak on the favour, I then had cod for my mains which was very tasty but my fiance had the seafood bowl which was smoothered by too much dill which completely ruined what could have been delicious. Overall, we were disappointed mostly because found it to be far too expensive for the quality of food, service & atmosphere.
