Went here for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were put sitting in the window which can make you feel a little trapped. The service was very friendly and it's probably the best I've had in terms of value for a long time. It was packed so they're definitely doing something right.

Il Sorriso Restaurant
New Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

Like a previous reviewer I was very surprised at the number of 4 and 5 star reviews for this restaurant. The food was truly awful, something like a 70s idea of what an Italian restaurant should be. I got gnocchi for starter which came smothered in a thick layer of hot bubbling cheese. The tomato sauce was thick, gloopy and tasted of nothing resembling tomatoes. The same sauce appeared again on my main course of ravioli and on my partners pizza. I don't understand how restaurants like Il Sorisso continue to be in business when they charge high prices for below average food. The service was quite indifferent. I had to ask twice for the bill and eventually had to pay at the bar where the staff were happily chatting to each other. Would not recommend and I will be voting with my feet!

Ivans Oyster Bar & Grill
17 - 18 West Pier, Howth, Dublin

The food in Ivan's is superb! I had the plaice when I went with my partner for lunch yesterday and it was cooked to perfection - it melted in my mouth. There wasn't many people there but the decor is very open and comfortable. The service was friendly and efficient - a bit of delay with the main course, but forgivable as the food was worth waiting for. If you're looking for value, perhaps you should go elsewhere as it was a little bit steep, particularly for lunch. But if you want a treat with some excellent fish and seafood, then Ivan is your man!

The Abbey Tavern, Howth,
Abbey Street, Howth, Dublin

Went here before Christmas with a group of friends and it was terribly disappointing. The food was awful, but in fairness, it wasn't expensive. My cod in beer batter was flavourless and the batter was far from crispy suggesting it was microwaved. There were no vegetables served with any of the main courses but it probably wouldn't have improved anything. Wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't go back.
