I have eaten here for lunch several times and have always been disappointed. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely but the food has never been great. Against my better judgement I agreed to have lunch here with a friend and I was already thinking about what i might have after. I have always found the portion sizes to be very small. On this occasion I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Both my friend and I ordered the open cajun chicken sandwich and it was delicious. I must say when the plate came out I was surpised as it was full. There were plenty of chips and salad to accompany the large portion of chicken. It wasn't smothered in cajun dressing it was perfect. Usually I feel let down by the side of chips as there are normally only 2 or 3 but this time there were plenty for a lunch serving. I definitely would consider it again.

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )
St Stephens Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We went here to celebrate my sons birthday. He is 5 and we thought it would have a nice lively atmosphere and therefore noisy kids might not disturb the other diners. The staff were fantastic. We had 3 childern under 5 and a baby. I would think we were probably a table from hell for the staff. We were so busy with the children that we had to ask them to come back 4 times before we finally had time to look at the menu yet nothing seemed to be a problem. The food was lovely and at the end I asked one of the waitresses if she could light some candles for my son's cake. About 6 waiting staff came over and sang happy birthday to him but on top of that they made him stand on a chair and the entire restaurant joined in. He was absolutely thrilled. I would definitely go back. We ordered a combo starter and my husband and I both had the ribeye which was so tender. One of our guests had the burger and it looked really tasty. All 3 children had the spagetting bolognese which was super value for money. I can't recommend it enough.

Phoenix Park Cafe
Grounds of the Visitor's Centre, Parkgate Street, Dublin

A hidden gem in Phoenix Park. I bring my kids to the playground here regularly & always have to grab a coffee and something sweet from the cafe. The cafe serves a yummy quiches, soups, salads and homemade cakes. Everything is mostly organic. On this particular day I hadn't had any lunch so I decided to grab a slice of quiche with side salad. The side salad was delicious. A mixture of beans in a lovely dressing.

The Counter Suffolk Street
20 Suffolk Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Dropped in here for lunch with a large group. We didn't have a reservation and even though it was busy lunchtime they managed to find us a table. I am so glad they did. It was my first time but my friends had been raving about the place. Upon a recommendation I ordered the Counter Burger. It was delicious. Beef, Onion Strings, Lettuce Mushrooms Sun-Dried Tomato Vinaigrette. Very big & very messy but well worth it. I will definitely be going back. I would recommend it to everybody.

Lemon Jelly Cafe
Millennium Walkway, Jervis Street, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Hubby & I usually head here for breakfast with 2 small kids. We dropped in for an early lunch and had 2 kids with us. They are age 3 & 5 but staff always have a friendly smile for us and a table available. They are always very welcoming to the children. We had the breakfast & scrambled eggs for the kids. Food is good and quick. Service is excellent and nice buzz about the place. I love this spot.

The Porterhouse (Central)
45-47 Nassau Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I used to eat here quite a lot but the prices increased and the portion sizes decreased. I tried it again recently and was pleasantly surprised. It is very hit or miss here and this time it was a miss. I ordered the bacon & cabbage (my usual). The bacon was burnt around the edges and they covered it up with sauce. On the plus side they don't charge for minerals. Services is always good & efficient.

Sinnotts
South King Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I come here regularly for a cheap & cheerful carvery lunch. What can I say, it does exactly what is says on the tin. Quick service, decent food, large portions and the chef always has a smile on his face. I usually have the roast beef dinner with sides. The portions are huge and very tasty. I go back regularly.

Harrys on the Green
2 King St South, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here recently for lunch with a colleague having heard lots of good reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at the new decor which was apparently completed over Easter. The menu was a bit small and very much bar food menu. I would have liked to see a slightly more extensive menu and compared to some of the other bars it was a little pricey. They didn't offer a huge selection of lunch specials. My colleague ordered the burger and as a fussy eater she specifically said just ketchup nothing else. I was really impressed with the waiter as he double checked her order and we have eaten out together many times it's usually wrong! The waiter was excellent and very friendly. I had chicken wings and chips which is hard to get wrong. Whilst I wasn't wowed it was still nice. I don't know if I would be in a hurry to head back for lunch though. The cocktails looked lovely.

I went to the Farm recently with 2 friends for lunch. I have beent there several times now for lunch and it never fails to impress. The portions are lovely and the service is always excellent. On my last visit I had the bacon and cabbage. It was delicious and a very large portion for lunch. Will I be returning? Yes.

ely winebar
22 Ely Place, (Just off St. Stephen’s Green), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I had to arrange a dinner for a large party of 15. Ely was specifically requested and having only ever been there for wine I was looking forward to the opportunity to taste their food. I booked the private room upstairs for our event and I was initially concerned that the room might be a bit large as it can take up to 30 guests. I need not have worried. On arrival I could see that the staff really knew what they were doing. The room accomodated our numbers perfectly without looking too big. The majority of the group ordered steak which was perfectly cooked. I personally ordered the smoked haddock starter from their group menue and I had cheese board to finish. I couldn't fault the food and service was excellent. Our glasses were nevery empty and even though the staff had to open the heavy doors to come into the room they were never intrusive. Would I go back??? Most definitely.

The Grafton Lounge
Unit 2, Royal Hibernian Way, Dawson Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Went there with a friend for lunch on Friday last. I ordered the burger and my friend ordered the mushrooms on bruscetta and mushroom soup. The waitress came back to tell me that the burger would take 15 mins as it was cooked fresh. I was pushed for time and switched to the crab cakes which were delicious. My friend had a great big bowl of soup and the mushroom bruscetta looked lovely. Service was excellent. All in all I think 27 euros for food, tea and diet coke was reasonable, not cheap by any means but reasonable enough. I'd definitely like to go back when I have more time to try the burger.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Four of us went for dinner on Sat night to celebrate my husbands birthday. I wanted somewhere lively and I read a few mixed reviews on menu pages but decided to give it a try anyway as they were participating in the Dine in Dublin promotion. We arrived at 7.30 and were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy even at this time. Starter arrived quite quickly but we were waiting a little while for mains (I didn't mind as we were chatting over a nice bottle of pinot grigio). My husband ordered Sweetcorn and Tomatoe Soup to start and Crusted Cod as main - Soup was very tasty but lukewarm but he didn't mind as he likes his food like that, personally I would have sent it back, there is no excuse for lukewarm soup. The runner beans that accompanied his cod were hard. I had fish cakes for starter and steak for main. Fish cakes weren't remarkable but the steak was perfectly cooked. My friend had the same and thought it was lovely. Her partner had the stuffed prawns for starter which he felt were a bit oily and lamb for main course which he said was perfectly cooked. For desert my friend and I had the rhubarb and mixed berry latice which tasted more like a jam and there wasn't the tang of the rhubarb. My husband had the cheescake which he thought was very nice. While we were waiting for our food we saw four tables return dishes. The waiter asked us if everything was okay and my husband mentioned that he didn't feel the runner beans were cooked enough so they brought a full bowl of them. Just as we were having desert they sent over 4 complimentary glasses of prosecco and apologiesd for the delay on mains. Overall I think the food was average €200 for 4 dinners and 2 bottles of house wine is an excellent price but only if the food is upto scratch. My friends asked me how I would rate it & I said 5 out of 10 which they felt was a bit harsh and said they would give 7 out of 10.

Mao Restaurant (Chatham Row)
2-3 Chatham Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I met a friend their for lunch recently. We were tight for time but I had been hoping to get back to Mao for sometime. When we arrived we were left waiting a few minutes for a table even though there appeared to be plenty of tables available. All of the tables on the terrace were busy and the atmosphere was nice. We were shown to a quiet table. We had crab cakes & chicken satay to share as starters and we both ordered nasi goreng. Service was fast and food was really enjoyable. Several times the waiter interrupted to ask if everything was okay which I found a bit annoying, then my friend mentioned that she had also found it annoying. Anyway, the meal was very good and we had no complaints about it, would I be in a rush to go back, probably not.

The Chili Club
Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

A work colleague and I were planning on trying out a new restaurant that had recently opened. When I phoned to confirm the reservation turned out they weren't open for lunch. We decided to try and find somewhere else. I have never been to Chilli Club but felt the need for something spicy as I was heading out that evening after work. When we arrived the place was buzzing. We were lucky to get the last table. The atmosphere was fantastic. I had chicken satay to start and my colleague had spring rolls. I had green curry for my main and my colleague had a prawn stir fry type dish. The food was excellent and we thought the lunch deal was excellent. For 2 starters, 2 mains & 2 glasses of wine it was 33 euros. Excellent value, excellent food and great buzz. I will definitely go back.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK South Anne Street)
5 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I went their on a Monday evening recently with a friend. We had a 2 for 1 discount voucher so that determined our choice of restaurant. I have eaten there several times before and have always found service excellent but cannot justify spending so much on a burger so I was delighted to go on a bargain. I had a garlic burger and my friend chose chilli burger. We both had it served with fries. I had a beer and my friend had a large glass of pinot grigo rose. It was an excellent place for a long catch up chat as it was very quiet, probably because it was a Monday night. Service was excellent. We had 2 beers, large pinot grigo, 2 burgers and 2 fries for the grand total of 38 euros including our discount. It was a very enjoyable evening and I'm looking forward to going back when I have another discount voucher, otherwise I just can't justify the spend on a burger!

Gotham Cafe
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here recently for lunch with a friend. I love this restaurant and think they do the nicest pizzas. I hadn't been in a while and noticed that they had changed the menu a little. I was disappointed as I thought the old menu was lovely. My friend recommended the crab cakes which she ordered. I decided to go for a pizza. Service was prompt as usual. As always never disappointed with Gotham pizza. However, when I saw my friend's crab cakes I regretted not taking her advice. They looked delicious. She said they tasted as good as they looked and were served with a very generous serving of salad and dressing. I have nothing negative to say at all except I can't wait until I go back again to try the crab cakes.

Milano (Dawson Street)
38 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I went there with a friend for lunch recently. I'm not normally a fan of Milanos as I think 12 to 14 euros for a pizza is a rip off. However, we happened to have 2 dine for the price of 1 voucher. We arrived at 12.45 and it was already nearly full. The staff were efficient if not very friendly. We were seated under an airconditioning unit and it was very cold. When we asked to be moved there were no alternative tables and we would have to wait if we wanted to move. The food was lovely but I would only go back if I had another two for one voucher as there was nothing to wow us.

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We went to Diep for my hen party! It was fab as always! It's slightly on the expensive side for asian food but sooo worth it. I always go there to celebrate a special occasion and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is really chilled but with a nice buzz. The staff are excellent, we were there for almost 3 hours without realising it and that was before desert. We didn't feel rushed off the table at all. Fantastic venue for a group special occasion. We are hoping to get back there soon to celebrate a 30th birthday....

Aqua Restaurant
1 West Pier, Howth, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

10 out of 10 on all counts! We had an intimate family wedding recently in Aqua and we couldn't say enough good things about the venue and the staff. The food is great and very well priced. The setting is fabulous and the staff were so helpful. We were made to feel anything was possible and they were so flexible with tailoring everyting to our needs. Thanks again to all the rest of the staff who helped make our day FANTASTIC!
