Quiet Thursday evening, so that's the reason for the low atmosphere rating - if it was busier it would be higher. Having said that, the food was outstanding - good produce, well-cooked and well-seasoned. We were a party of three and, on our rcommendation, eight more of our group went there on the Friday night and had an equally happy experience. Service and food first-class. If you like good Italian food, go there!

Italian Connection (Kilkenny)
38 Parliament Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

The worst Italian restaurant I have ever eaten in. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese for a starter, and the alarm bells began to ring when it arrived - the spaghetti was completely overcooked, and the accompanying "sauce" very mediocre, Worse was to follow: I ordered a sirloin steak - rare- for the main course, and it duly arrived. I cut into to it and summoned the waiter who agreed with me that it was not rare, but blue. He took it away, and returned five minutes later with the same steak, now transformed to a dried-up medium-rare which was unchewable and inedible. It went back. In fairness to the waiter (Maitre D' perhaps) he dealt with the situation professionally. The ineptitude of the chef wasn't his fault. Tiramisu to follow was bland. The one redeeming feature was the waitress, who was pleasant, cheerful and efficient. All in all, not a good experience.
