There are two entrances to the Cake Cafe, I was brought to it through the Daintree Paper shop, which makes it feel like you are priviledged to be in on a secret, we were lucky that the weather was sunny so we got to sit outside and felt very mediterranean eating Irish Tapas and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice. Cake Cafe has a quirky charm that makes it the kind of place you want to keep ordering more coffee rather than head back out the secret door to real life.

Arrived in Dublin really late and starving, found Zaytoon and had a really good Kebab... haven't given it full stars because it's not exactly fine dining but having said that I doubt you'd get better food at the hour I was searching.

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Stuck for somewhere to eat in a hurry we found ourselves deciding between pancakes, italian and mexican and we chose Cactus Jack's - I ordered tortillas and was pleasantly surprised to find they came with a proper bowl of pretty good chilli as opposed to the usual spoonful of chilli on top you get in other place. The service was good, but a little bit practiced - all the right things said, but not much genuine friendliness.

Star Anise
4 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork

Had the most amazing pork belly & crackling, couldn't have been better. The duck looked really good also and the creme brulée was delicious. Atmosphere was lovely and the service was spot on - very friendly, very helpful but not in the slightest bit intrusive.
