Little Caesars (Harcourt Street) restaurant
The Harcourt Hotel, 59 Harcourt Street, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 14th April 2010 ( visited 14th April 2010 )Ate here for lunch today. They do a great offer of 6.95 main course and 2.95 for a starter. My boyfriend had his usual Chicken dish with chips. I opted for 2 starters - chips and and mozzerella cubes with garlic mayo. All the food was delicious but what was fantastic was the speed of service. We had our food in 5 minutes and that happens regularly. Staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. We were at lunch at 12.30 which is early and it was still fairly busy with good atmosphere. The interior is fabulous although it was particularly dark this lunch time.
FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 03rd March 2008 ( visited 01st March 2008 )I went to this restaurant on Saturday for the pre-theatre menu. It was €29 for three courses and €24 for two (I think). We were running twenty minutes late, which they were very easy going about. The atmosphere and the place itself is pretty cool. However, we spent a lot of time waiting to be served. I was disappointed by the choice on the menu. I was very disappointed by the quality. I had the pasta which was extremely sweet and lathered in oil. The fishcake starter was nice. My mum had the Goats Cheese to start but it was very heavy. All in all I was kind of disappointed with the experience - I had been told many good things about the place.
South Quay, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
We used to really enjoy this place but got food from there on Sunday. They sent the crispy shredded chicken without a sauce and then the beef thai curry had a hair in it. These things happen, however, when we complained the reception we got was frosty. As regular customers we were really shocked to have to ask for fresh rice since our own had gone cold while waiting for new meals to be cooked. We were not offered so much as a free prawn cracker. In the end I couldn't eat my meal as not only was it not very tasty (red thai beef curry), which in fairness is unusual for Penang, but I was really annoyed at our treatment when we made a complaint.
The Market Bar
Fade Street, City Centre South, Dublin
This place gets better and better. Went here with my boyfriend and another couple. We shared our usual of calamari, patatas bravas and a small nachos. I think the portions are getting bigger to be honest as we were nowhere near finishing our dishes. The couple we were with ordered chicken skewers, patas bravas and fish pie. I had never had the fish pie before and had a taste and I really highly recommend it. It was delicious. we all had plenty of wine. I don't like the wine that comes with the special of 2 small plates and wine for 14quid. Its too sharp (the red is ) and my friends said the white wasn't nice either. But they do have good enough wine other than that. This is my favourite restaurant in Ireland and has been for about 6 years.
Captain America's Blanchardstown
Unit 40 Blanchardstown, Retail Park 2 Extension Dublin, West Dublin, Blanchardstown, Dublin
I visit Captain Americas in town all of the time and love it there. I was thoroughly disappointed this time. My boyfriend and I ordered burgers. I had the mexican burger which was completely tasteless. There was salsa which tasted of nothing and caused the burger to fall apart. The meat itself was fine but I ended up not eating most of it as the whole thing was a gooey mess. The portion of chips was so stingy as well. My boyfriend had his usual of barbeque burger and his chips portion was stingy. He said his burger was ok but it also fell apart. We both left hungry and unsatisfied. Would have been happier goign to McDonalds
39 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin
My boyfriend and I decided to just go for dinner here. He had the tomato pasta with basil and I had chips and gnocci with a blue cheese sauce. We shared a bottle of red wine. Between the 2 of us the meal was €40.00 and we were stuffed. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was romantic and the wine was delicious too. I definitely will be going back here
The Beacon Hotel, Beacon Court, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin
My boyfriend and I came here to avail of the offer provided my meupages where we got €20 off a maincourse. We had to order starter and main course. While the setting is nice we were disappointed with the food. We got duck springroll to start and there was little if any duck in it. it was all shoots and carrots and a very greasy pastry. For main course my boyfriend got spicy noodles and I got red thai curry. The duck in my curry was dried out and I did not eat most of it. THe sauce and rice were pretty good if not very spicy. My boyfriends noodles were basically noodles and oil and he didn't eat it. I had 2 glasses of wine and the bill still came to 45euros. I would have raging if I had had to pay the full amount of 65 as the meal definitely wasn't worth it- I felt like I was eating a bad takeaway and I certainly won't be back
Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant
The Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
my boyfriend and I came here for lunch. We shared two of the sandwiches -the steak and the chicken. The chicken was pretty good and I'd get that again. However, the steak was very bad quality. Its the type of steak you would put in a casserole as opposed to a fried up steak and neither of us finished it and were very disappointed. The side of guacomole was literally mashed up avacado - I could make better at home myself to be honest. We got a side of potatoes which were pretty nice but we were disappointed you couldn't get fries. We got nachos with a hot salsa to start which was the best thing about the meal; The salsa tastes very fresh. The whole thing came to €35 which without alcohol was expensive. I would probably go back literally for nachos and margaritas maybe but probably not for food. Its overpriced- all the bits cost significantly extra and the quality isn't good enough to warrent the price. If they want custom in Dundrum they would want to up their game quick smart.
Douglas and Kaldi Restaurant
1 Ashtown Square, Rathborne Village, Ashtown, Dublin
I came here on Saturday with a friend and my boyfriend. We were seated at a table around the corner beside the toilet. We found that we were pretty much forgotten there. I had to ask for the dirty cutlery to be moved from the table. When the clean cutlery was replaced, no-one even cleaned the crumbs off the table. I had the smoked salmon bagel which was fine but nothing special. My boyfriend had the chips which were very greasy and seemed to be frozen chips. My friend had a cappachino which she said was nice. When we asked for the bill we were left waiting 20 mins. When we reminded the waiter, he walked off and someone else came back with the bill. I won't be returning - €20.00 for bad service, dirty dining and ok food. Not in this recession

I ate here last night with 5 others. I had goujons and chips as did two others (one with wedges). I got garlic sauce on the side which was delicious. The goujons seemed of good quality and nice size portion. Big bowl of chips and you could still see the potato skins so they weren't frozen. I preferred the chips to the wedges. Two of my friends had the caesar salad which was well presented with nice looking crispy bacon. They said it was lovely. THe food came promptly and the waitress checked everything was ok a few times. It was very handy for heading to the laughter lounge afterwards and will definitely use it next time.
The Coach House
Ballinteer Avenue, Ballinteer, Dublin
ate here with a friend. She had a lasagne with chips and I had kids chicken nuggets with chips. Both portions were huge and very appetising. I was surprised at the high quality of the food -especially the nuggets. I also had wine which was very tasty for a house wine in a pub. I will definitely be going back. The two courses plus 2 wines and a pint came to €40.00 which was very reasonable
Landsdowne Hotel, 27/29 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Ballsbridge, Dublin
came here with work colleagues for their new lunch menu of soup and sandwiches and daily special main courses. THe sandwiches are simple - cheese, chicken, ham, brown white and can be toasted. I've had the cheese & chicken and its delicious and at €2.50 can't be beaten. add soup for €2.00 and you are stuffed. The soup is particularly nice and I've had it twice. This time a member of my party got a side order of wedges which in fact little potato cubes and were delicious and a huge portion with enough for all 6 of us. The waitress here is the most friendly lady and remembered us from the last time. This is a new part of this restaurant and we will definitely be returning
Castle Chinese Restaurant
3C Castle Street, Dalkey, Dalkey, Dublin
came here as part of a group of 50 people who had booked out the restaurant. A set menu was put on which was disappointing however the food was pretty ok. I had sweet and sour prawns for mains with fried rice. I didn't think it tasted anything bettter than from a local takeaway however. I also had red house wine which was actually very nice. The one thing I would say is that although the staff were friendly, they hassled a lot about paying for drinks and it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. I actually wouldn't bother returning as I didn't like the decor and I thought the food was of bad quality for the price. There are much better quality chinese's around for the same price
Nostromo Private Party Venue
25a Lower Leeson Street, City Centre South, Dublin
Ate here for lunch with my boyfriend. We eat here quite a bit. Got a goats cheese and tomato quiche which was the special with fries on the side. It was pretty disgusting to be honest- with big hunks of beef tomato and soggy pastry. The chips were burnt and greasy. My partner had the chicken coriander curry which he said was slightly more bland than usual. We were pretty disappointed as the sevice is unfriendly at most. The food is way overpriced for its quality which is no better than a spar deli. Won't be going back any time soon
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK South Anne Street)
5 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
came here for lunch with another. my partner had a cheese burger with barbeque sauce and i had a kids cheese burger. We shared chips. Mine was delicious and the blue cheese sauce was amazing that I ordered on the side. May partner loved his burger and the fries but the barbeque sauce he ordered on the side was more like a tomato relish which was disappointing. Service was fairly quick but very friendly. It was fairly empty but we had a good time and will definitely go back.
Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin
Went here on a work night in a group of 11. Very quiet but maybe that was a good thing as we were pretty loud. No complaints from staff who were very attentive and left us alone for an hour before we ordered as we kept asking for more time. Very understanding and patient. Food is ok-the potatoes and tortilla is good. The rest for me I have to say is a bit greasy. The paella is good aswell. House wine isnt great but if you're willing to pay more then the wine is pretty good. I found the chicken wings were very greasy. I also didn't like the battered squid. Compared to other establishments who serve squid, the batter was not tasty and also maybe this is a personal thing but I don't like huge chunks of squid in tasteless batter. Overall a good place if your not going for fantastic food
The Baggot Inn
143 Lower Baggott Street, Baggot Street, St Stephens Green, Dublin
WEnt here for lunch with a work colleague and eaten here many times. Was dissappointed that I couldnt get the duck spring rolls. Decided to go for the Italian panini. My friend got the cajun chickn panini. Unfortunately in an effort to serve us quickly, the panini's were under done and doughy. The chips were also underdone. I also have to say that the panini didnt really taste of anything despite having pesto and sundried tomatoes in it. €9 is expensive for a panini anyway-never mind one that dissappointing I will return here-but im getting soup from now on-cant go that wrong.
Milano (Baggot Street)

came here with 2 girlfriends for an early dinner. We all ordered the padana pizza. It was really good as always although I think they are scrimping on the goats cheese. I had 2 glasses of house white wine which was very refresshing and light. The service was unually good and all of us got the right food for once
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
Sat on the patio here on sunday with my partner. Glorious sunshine. Thye were very busy and it took 20 minutes to take our order and another 30til we ate. However the food was delicious. My boyfriend got a fresh pizza with chicken and peppers which he loved. I had the salad with garlic mushrooms. My main problem with it was although I asked for the dressing on the side, I got dressingon the side but the leaves were dressed in olive oil...bit pointless but still pretty tasty. Good red wine and good big glass. My partner ordered a diet coke but got a coke and didnt want to wait while trying to send it back. Will definitely return beacuse the food is good but not for a quick bite to eat
Siam Thai (Rathfarnham)
Eden House, Grange Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin
Love this place. So convenient(for me). Always have the padthai which never dissappoints. ALso get a satay to start and its really good. My boyfriend gets the garlic chicken which is devine. If you sit upstairs you get to hear 2 amazing singers who are also very lovely and friendly. I would have to say it is a little expensive and very dissappointing that they don't do a takeaway. Will definitely be returning but only for a special occassion in this economic climate unless they bring out a takeaway menu
1st Floor 26b Nutgrove Shopping Centre, South Dublin, Rathfarnham, Dublin
I am now done with this place. When it first opened it was top of the range and I always ordered takeaway or visited the restaurant on special occasions. It was always great value because you could bring your own wine or you got free rice and poppadoms with a takeaway. I always got butter chicken and rice and garlic naan. My byfriend would get korma. However the last two times we have been very dissappointed. Firstly, both times they forgot items in our takeaway. The first time I didnt mind so much because the food was so good and the chicken so tender. However, this time was a different story. It was cold and tasteless. THe chicken was also quite tough and was not tender at all. It tasted like both sauces had been watered down and our naan bread was missing. Total dissappointment and never again.
The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin
Came here yet again with two friends. it was packed again yet surprisingly we wern't left waiting as usual for ages for a seat. Not only were we seated pretty quickly but we got our food and drinks quickly as well which is a bonus in this place. Was also delighted that they finally got the sweet potatoe fries. I ordered half fries/half sweet potato and I actually couldnt eat any of my burger but they put everything in a doggy bag for me. Absolutely delicious. One thing that annoyed me-quality and quantity of the wine. They are stingy with the glass and it fairly sharp. Ill still be going back next week though as I have a hankering for the wings. One of my favourite places
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Temple Bar)
Unit 1, Temple Bar Square, Dublin 2 , Temple Bar, Dublin
Came here last night again with a friend. Food was delicious as always. You just cant beat their blue cheese sauce or garlic sauce. Wine wasn't great though. What was really nice was that my friend and I had 1drink and main course each and we were there for over 3hours chatting and no one bothered us. They were quite happy to let us do our own thing
Elephant & Castle
18/19 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I ate here last week with a party of 14. They take reservations for parties of more than 6. Don't expect to get seated though-we were seated over an hour late. However we were well compensated with free champagne for the whole table-enough for a couple of glasses each. Food was delicious as always. Chicken wings were divine. My partner and I shared a burger as well with cheese & bacon which was extremely tasty. I can't wait to go back.
