Fade Street Social - The Restaurant
Drury Street , City Centre South, Dublin

Starters and mains were decent but the Mushroom Open Ravioli was disappointing as there was very little pasta. None of the mains had any vegetables except for the chips or mashed potato which was very disappointing. Then we had desserts. Four went for the rhubarb and one for the banoffee pie. The banoffee was disgusting, very little flavour and was like wet dough! The rhubarb was extremely tart and hard and nobody liked it. None were finished and when the server came to take them away we informed her that they were awful. The manager came down and said they had tasted our rhubarb dessert in the kitchen and all agreed that it as bad! He told us that the chef would be down to chat to us shortly but he never arrived! We were offered coffees on the house but nobody wanted coffee. We received no reduction off the bill for the unfinished desserts. We would not recommend or be back.

Union Café
68 Deerpark Rd, Mount Merrion , Co. Dublin, Mount Merrion, Dublin

I was looking forward to seeing and dining in Union Cafe. Place looks great! Hubby ordered the hamburger. He was not asked how he would like it cooked so it arrived well cooked and was not good nor were the fries. I had the fish pie which at €17 I expected something good. The top of it was a flat crust and when I cut into it it was sloppy with no fluffy potato. It consisted of mainly salmon with small cubes of potato and small cubes of carrot. Definitely not freshly made and it was awful. Pub food but restaurant prices! Total cost for two people for lunch, including two small beers and one coffee €41.75. Unless they start providing good food we will not be back.

Barker's
Blackrock Shopping Centre, Blackrock, Blackrock, Dublin

Our first time dining here yesterday early evening. The restaurant has a lovely ambience with low level lighting and candles but unfortunately the place was cold! Hubby started with liver pate and I had the wings. Both were very good but the blue cheese dip with the wings was too thin and lacked flavour! Seconds were the burger which hubby enjoyed, a chargrilled flavour and it would have been perfect! I had the rump steak which was cooked as requested and was tender and tasty. Deserts were apple crumble, the crumble being disappointing and mango cheesecake which was very good. A nice bistro but bring a jumper!

Isabel's Restaurant
112 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I bought a voucher and I must warn others that the menu isn't like the one shown with the deal. It is very basic food and very disappointing.

Marcel's
13 Merrion Row , City Centre South, Dublin

A real gem. We were a party of four. All thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. We dined in a beautiful dining room upstairs, each course was perfect and staff were friendly and efficient! I would highly recommend and look forward to returning.

The Copper Bar
8 Blackthorn Road, Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford, Sandyford, Dublin

I was so looking forward to trying this restaurant/bar as photos I had seen looked great. Went for lunch today. The photos were disappointedly deceptive! My husband and I went for the burgers. The meat was tasteless. We won't be going back!

Beeftro - Dundrum
Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre , South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

At long last we have discovered a place that services amazing steak that is tender and delicious. I had the steak frites @ €14, served before 6:30, cooked medium rare as requested tender and so flavoursome. My husband had the Sirloin Rump €17 also cooked to perfection. Both served with fries which were very tasty. We had a delicious carafe of Ponte Merlot, which was recommend by our server. We shared a Creme Brûlée, served as it should be warm with a nice crispy caramelised topping. We arrived at around 6pm so the place was quiet but was filling up very quickly before we left. Service was friendly and attentive and the decor lovely. If the restaurant can continue to service steaks of this quality we will become regular customers. A must for steak lovers!

Cafe 31
Old Bray Road, Cabinteely, Dublin

I dine here regularly with friends for lunch which is great value, €7.95 including coffee/tea and plenty to choose from with daily specials. Food is always freshly cooked and tasty and the service is excellent. It is busy at lunch time so best to book in advance.

La Maison
15 Castle Market Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I invited a friend to join me for lunch at La Maison today. We went straight for mains. Not a piece of bread was offered to us while we waited, unusual for a French restaurant. I had the cod which looked awful, was not fresh and was completely tasteless. My friend had the skillet of fish and shellfish in a white wine sauce which looked lovely but she found tasteless. We thankfully ordered chips as an extra as the portions were very small. Desserts were equally disappointing! I have just returned from a week in Nice and never had a meal as disappointing as this one! 2 mains, two desserts, two glasses of wine and two coffees €76 :( :(

Town Bar and Grill
21 Kildare Street, City Centre South, Dublin

We consisted of a party of five women and dined in Town Bar & Grill on Saturday afternoon for a friends birthday. Starters and mains were tasty but portions were very small. Overall desserts were very poor in flavor and presentation. The Creme Brûlée was served in a wide dish but the custard was as thin as the sugar crust. We left the restaurant still hungry and with the 3 course lunch menu costing €27 we expected far more. We were all very disappointed with our visit and as the place was practically empty, I think customers are not returning as they feel they have been robbed, as we did.

Pichet
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

I had lunch here with a group of friends. The food was excellent. Portions are small but the food is filling. They have good value and quality house wine. The service was very good. It was very busy, so the atmosphere was good. There was only one drawback for one of the girls I was dining with, she is vegetarian but there was no vegetarian dishes on the menu. I will definitely be back but my vegetarian friend won't be!

Millers Pizza Kitchens
50 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Two of us went here for lunch as we fancied a pizza. It was Saturday lunch time but the place was almost empty hence the poor atmosphere. When our pizzas were just ready the manager was giving out to the chef for making one of them too big. The manager should concentrate on providing fresh ingredients for the pizzas as both were completely tasteless and extremely dry. My husband had the Millers pizza €15.95!!! and I had the Florentine pizza. We both like chili oil and put some on the pizzas to try and give them some flavor and take away the dryness but the oil was overpowering. We were very disappointed and will definitely not be returning!!!!!!!!!!

Milano (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

I had lunch here today with a friend. We didn't even have any time to look around Dundrum shopping Centre as it took about two hours to have a salad and coffee due to the absolutely atrocious service. We both had salads which were tasteless and cost around €14 euro each. Luckily I had a voucher so we only had to pay for one meal. We will definitely not be returning.

The Vanilla Pod Eatery
The Iveagh Mall, The Park, South Dublin, Carrickmines, Dublin

I had lunch here with my husband yesterday. I had the Bruschetta with Wild Mushrooms, Asparagus, Poached Egg, Hollandaise & Roast Vine Tomatoes. The dish was tasty except for the wild mushrooms which were burnt, dried up and completely inedible. A great disappointment as I chose the dish as I love mushrooms. My husband had a sandwich of cheese and ham with salad and chips. Unfortunately the sandwich was very dry. When the server came to take our plates I explained my problem with the mushrooms, which remained on my plate. He got the manager over for me and she was very professional, apologized and did not charge me for my meal. It really does not take any skill to cook mushrooms and to serve dried up sponges was a disgrace and ruined the dish. This could be a great place if a little more attention was paid to the food.

Da Vinci's
31 Deansgrange Road, Deansgrange, Dublin

I dine in Alexis regularly with friends. It is a tiny restaurant so advisable to book. We always find the food and service excellent, hence our regular visits. I wouldn't recommend for a romantic date as the decor is quite stark.

Gotham South
4 Kilmacud Road Lower, Stillorgan, Dublin

I met a friend here for lunch. It's a great place as there is plenty of free parking. The restaurant is large, nicely decorated and the service was very good. I had the Slow cooked pulled pork sandwich which was very tasty and served with delicious chips. My friend had the Roast butternut squash and pumpkin seed linguini which was freshly cooked and tasty. We were very impressed with the quality and value of the food and will definitely be back.

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

After looking at the reviews and great photographs of delicious food on their web page, my husband and I decided to have Sunday lunch here. The restaurant is lovely and the service very good but we were very disappointed with the food. It is just like home cooked food and nothing more. I had the Rump Of Slaney Lamb with Ratatouille and Gratin Potato. The lamb was beautifully cooked and tender, the ratatouille was sloppy and looked more like a relish and the gratin potato was mashed potato. My husband had the Rare Breed Pork Belly which he found tasteless and the crackling was not crispy but chewy. With a great selection of restaurants in Dublin serving fantastic food we will not be returning to Dobbins.

The Wild Boar
Stepaside Village, Dublin 18, Stepaside, Dublin

We had sunday lunch here. My husband had The Roast Beef €17.95 which he throughly enjoyed. I had the fish and chips €14.90 which were beautifully displayed on a wooden board. The chips were crispy and tasty but unfortunately parts of the batter was soggy and both the batter and fish lacked taste. We had a couple of beers and asked for some water. The glasses for the water arrived but the water didn't. We then had the Baked Apple and Wilde Berry Crumble €5.50 which was very disappointing. We found every aspect of service poor. Will I be back, maybe.

The Box Tree
Stepaside Village, South Dublin, Stepaside, Dublin

We have eaten in The Box Tree before and always enjoy it. We bought the Menu Pages voucher and used it here last night. Unlike another experience we had in its sister restaurant, this voucher was good value. We booked the table for 7pm and were surprised to see it was so busy. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, particularly in the evening. The staff were very welcoming. My husband and I had three courses, too much for us really but absolutely delicious. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. I had a delicious wine called Swallows Tail and will definitely have that again on our return. A beautiful restaurant, serving delicious food.

La Mere Zou
22 St Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Five of us had lunch here on Saturday. There is a good choice of dishes on the lunch menu and also a good selection of daily specials on the blackboard (most of which do include a small surcharge). We all decided to have the three course lunch menu for €22. All starters and mains were delicious and my rib eye steak was superb and cooked to perfection 'medium rare', as requested, and so tender with a little bit of fat in the meat which just melted in my mouth, fantastic. Desserts went down well but I was disappointed with my choice of 'Butterscotch parfait, roasted banana and chocolate sauce', with just a dribble of chocolate sauce I found it too dry. The food and service were excellent and we will definitely be back.

Aqua Restaurant
1 West Pier, Howth, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

First time visit here with my husband. Reviews were pretty good so I was expecting good food. Restaurant is in a great position overlooking the sea. I had a starter of Risotto which was very good. I then opted for the white fish of the day which was Hake. This was served on some very tasty mashed potato with a tiny portion of white sauce and unfortunately not one vegetable. The Hake was very disappointing. It was tasteless and served skin side up with no color and horribly soft. My husband has the Fish and Chips which he enjoyed but was a hefty €17.95. We didn't bother with dessert. The double expresso was the most expensive I have ever had at €3.50. Service, although quite, was not attentive. We gave it a try but will not be back.

Town Bar and Grill
21 Kildare Street, City Centre South, Dublin

My husband and I went to Town Bar and Grill for Sunday lunch today. The food, atmosphere and service could not be faulted, they were all excellent. I could not believe the amazing value €20 for a two course lunch inc. a glass of wine and €25 for a three course also inclusive of a glass of wine. We were very happy with the portions and decided to shared a dessert as we were both full. With this quality of food and value we will definitely be back.

One Pico Restaurant
5-6 Molesworth Place, Schoolhouse Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I dined in One Pico with a group of friends last Saturday. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived but very quickly filled up. We all went for the lunch menu at €25. The service was very good but it was a little irritating when the waiter kept topping up our wine glasses when we had only taken a few sips. The food was very good but one friend had the risotto and found it too salty. One of the waiters must have overheard her say this when he was clearing away the dishes, as when we requested the bill the Maitre'd brought it out and informed my friend that he was made aware she was not happy with the risotto told her that he took it off the bill. It has been a very long time since any of us have seen such an attentive waiter and good old fashioned customer service and we were all very impressed. We will be back for the good food, good value and good customer care.

The Saddle Room @ The Shelbourne
The Shelbourne Hotel, 27 St Stephen's Green, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Judging from the previous reviews my husband and I must have picked a bad day to eat in The Saddle Room as we were both very disappointed with the food and the service. We had the lunch menu. I started with the Chicken Liver Parfait which was a cold block of tasteless pate. My husband had the Gravadlax of Salmon which he enjoyed. For mains, I had the Free Range Chicken which was ok and my husband had the Steak (supplement of €3) it was tender but absolutely tasteless so much so that for the first time in his life he didn't bother to eat all of it. After such disappointing food and very slow service we decided not to try desserts or coffee. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Seapoint Restaurant
4 The Crescent, Monkstown, Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin

Had lunch here today. On their site they have a lunch special for 14.50, but this does not exist on the menu in their restaurant. I had their lunch special, which consisted of three tasty prawns (the only tasty part of dish) on a small piece of cod with 'soft' skin and a miserable salad. My friend had a goats cheese and duck salad which she was also unhappy with. A small coffee cost 3.25 each. Make sure you ask for the 'free Kangan water' otherwise you will be given a jug of tap water. I don't mind spending money on good food but the food at Seapoint was very disappointing. We will not be returning.

Frankies Italian Bar and Grill
42 Temple Bar Square, Temple Bar, Dublin

When in town yesterday evening my husband and I decided to try this restaurant. It was very quiet and we got a lovely table overlooking Temple Bar. We both ordered burgers. They were very disappointing. They were tasteless, the presentation was very poor, and the chips tasted of oil that needs to be changed. The service was good and the coffees delicious. We would return for the coffee but not for the food.

Chapter One Restaurant
18/19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

WOW! I have been dying to go the Chapter One for ages and managed to book lunch for two yesterday. The restaurant is in the basement and wonderfully atmospheric being beautifully decorated with a mix of old and new. We were a bit early but were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. We thought the place might be very quiet being 12.50 but there were a good number of people there already and the restaurant filled up very quickly. The flavor of the food was outstanding and the presentation excellent. The only downside was the cost which at €37 for a 3 course lunch, excluding drinks and gratuity, is a little expensive to go on the weekly basis I would like. Will definitely be returning.

Sika Restaurant
Powerscourt Hotel Restaurant & Spa, Powerscourt, Wicklow

How can the quality of a restaurant of this calibre change so dramatically in a few weeks. I last reviewed Gordon Ramsay's when I dined here on Valentines Day. I loved it so much my family decided to take me here for Mothers Day. I am still flabbergast at the poor quality of food we were served compared to our previous experience. The starters and main dishes were like something served up in a 2 or 3 star hotel. The quality and presentation of the food was appalling. When we were asked if we enjoyed our meal we all said how disappointed we were with it and were then told that the chef would be informed. No other action was taken by the restaurant. We will not be going back.

Roly Saul The Restaurant
The Mill House, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

I had read and heard bad reviews about this restaurant, particularly about the steak being tough but decided to try it for myself and thought I'd try lunch first and if good then dinner. I found the restaurant decor nice and were given a lovely table overlooking the water feature of Dundrum s/c. We decided to go for the 2 course lunch menu at €23 and opted for the desserts instead of starters. My husband had a hamburger and, unusually for a restaurant, he was not asked how he would like it cooked. It arrived well done and disappointing. I decided to go for a steak, which cost an extra €7 and asked for it medium rare. When it was presented it was obviously well done and so it was returned. When my steak eventually arrived it was cooked as requested but it was so tough it was hard to cut it with the sharp knife provided. What also surprised me was the very poor presentation of both main dishes. The desserts were delicious but we will not be returning to Roly Saul.

Campo de' Fiori Bistro Market
1 Albert Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow

I cannot believe the amazing comments that have been written about this restaurant prior to my comment. I ate here last night with four friends. The place was freezing and the food was very disappointing. We all agreed that we will not be going back.

Baan Thai (Leopardstown)

This is a restaurant I go to frequently with my family. We are never disappointed. It is definitely the best Thai restaurant in Dublin and the servers are always friendly. They have a good value lunch menu.

FXB Monkstown
3a The Crescent Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin

I decided to eat here with my family as my son loves steak and was flying out to Canada on a J1 visa the following day. We read the reviews and decided to book. All I can say is WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING. All steaks ordered were fillets. All steaks were tasteless and three were ordered medium rare but were cooked well done. One was returned and its replacement was also cooked well done. I took the time to write to the restaurant with regard to our disappointment but they didn't bother to take the time to reply.
