Aqua Restaurant
1 West Pier, Howth, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

The view was stunning and the service and reception pleasant the food was a little disappointing, the calamarie was tough and stringy and the beans and broccoli were so under cooked as to be inedible I could not get a knife through the broccoli, Whatever was on top of the tuna was inedible too the rest was fairly ordinary Thank you it was a nice evening

The Step Inn Stone-Grill Restaurant

This was a great choice to celebrate my husbands birthday with his brother and wife. The service was excellent and very helpful, the atmosphere great except for some very loud voices at a table close to us. We could not fault the food. starters of the best duck spring rolls were the best ever, and also the garlic mushrooms second to none. We all had the stone-grill sirloin steak which we were told how best to 'cook' according to our preferred taste. This was a great fun thing to do..it came sizzling on its own stone and you cut and sizzle to your taste. Some of the best and tastiest steak we ever had. Veg with it were good and adequate. Only one of us (the birthday -boy!) had room for a sweet but the pavlova was beautifully presented and full of fruit and flavour. Coffee and the wine were all well up to standard. This was a really super fun evening .thank you

The Johnstown Inn, Johnstown, Naas, Kildare

We got to try this new Johnstown restraurantnt with my brother in law & his wife. the food was excellent -chef a bit too handy with the salt! the service was friendly helpful and interesting.. Starters were varied, excellent spring rolls, and soup , main dishes were also very good, lamb shank melt-in- the-mouth as was the steak, fish a bit 'ordinaire'. only the men managed a sweet, New York cheese cake which they pronounced very good. The coffee was the best i have had out for a long time. Not sure we go for the new shiny decor it lacks the homely olde worlde feel of the previous restraurant, But we will go again

As other restraurant here was closed we dined at The Johnstown Inn on our 51st Wedding Anniversary. We were made very welcome, sat in a cosy comfortable side-room . Service was friendly and helpful. The food was well presented and excellent in flavour cooked as we asked. We both had Spring rolls, crisp and very tasty, followed by sirloin steak which was excellent melt in the mouth and full of flavour..rather too many chips! roasted veg very nice. Pavlova was good with lots of varied fruit. Coffee well up to standard . We had a lovely evening thank you!

Finders Inn Restaurant
16 Nohoval Belgooly, Riverstick, Cork

We came here as recomended by my brother-in-law who often comes here when in Myrtleville. We were made very welcome by the fire! and had a nice cosy corner table the food was very good and well presented and the staff friendly and helpfull. The black sole was second to none and two of us had rack of lanmb which was very tasty and tender. The duckling was not as good maybe more duck than duckling? the veg came separately and were very good. Sweets were great especially the chocolate fudge one and the homemade icecream was a treat! We had a very happy evening and will certainly be there again.

Fishy Fishy Cafe and Gourmet Store
Guardwell Street, Kinsale, Cork

Four of us had lunch here and it was a great experience. The service was very good, nothing we asked for was too much trouble the place was welcoming and clean (great toilets!!) The food was well presented, we had a variety of dishes between us.The helpings were a bit on the large side, the chili fish dish was amazingly good as was the chicken, the battered haddock was superb as good as my husband had had anywhere! We returned to Dublin well fed and ready to reccomend this to anyone going to the Cork area

Hartley's Restaurant
1 Harbour Road, South Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

This is the second year we have celebrated my husband's birthday at Hartleys (75) We again enjoyed it with his brother & wife. The service was very good but they didnt offer us what was on the blackboard we had to ask as you could not read it where we were seated and it wasnt the kind of place we felt we could wander round! the starters were excellent we all had a different one. My salmon main course and the fish pie could not be bettered but apparently the hake was a bit disappointing. Desserts seemed a bit limited and heavy after the main courses but on asking for the winter berry from the blackboard it proved a winner. Perhaps the tables were pushed a bit close together, because in spite of the height of the room the noise level was rather high and the neighboring table moved because of this Very friendly atmosphere and we did enjoy our evening. Thank you

Aqua Restaurant
1 West Pier, Howth, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin

We dined on the Early Bird menu, as we felt the full menu was a bit over the top pricewise. We had a super table on a lovely evening with the sun going down on the bay and little dingys racing. Menu could be improved: spring roll excellent; Parma ham over done; fish of the day a bit over-cooked; salmon excellent; presentation very good; sweets mostly good. Friendly attentive service. A good evening had by all, best weather of the summer!
