No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 21st November 2006 ( visited 21st November 2006 )I love this place however the queuing does put me off and every time I go the service is unbelievably slow but maybe I’ve just been unlucky! The food is so good (& good value for money) that I’d forgive all little annoyances.
The Port House Ibericos
5/6 Pembroke Cottage, Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
Love this kind of food. Only danger is getting carried away and ordering far too much and getting a big bill! I like places like this where you can have something light to eat before you go to the cinema or can have a more substantial dinner. Lovely atmosphere and nice staff. Nice selection of wines by the glass.
BANG Restaurant & Bar
11 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Good value and great for a gang.
The Butcher Grill
92 Ranelagh Village, South Dublin, Ranelagh, Dublin
Excellent food (had the Cote de Boeuf), lovely friendly service. Definitely will be eating there regularly from now on.
L'Officina by Dunne And Crescenzi (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
This is a great spot for grabbing a bite to eat after shopping for the evening in Dundrum. The menu is not extensive by many means but the specials always make it interesting. Prices aren't bad either.
Sandyford Road, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Disappointing first visit. The restaurant itself is nice but thought the portions were quite small and not good value for money at all.
The Crystal Bar @ The Beacon Hotel
Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin
I visit here regularly as I live close by. Best cocktails in Dublin! Seriously, they have a great cocktail menu. The food although good, is a bit overpriced. Staff are lovely and friendly.

Upper Kilmacud Road, Dundrum, Dublin
Lovely food. Can't wait for warmer weather to sit outside.
120 Ranelagh Road, Ranelagh, Dublin
I've been here twice now but would seriously have to think about whether or not i would return. I love the food and the restaurant itself is really cool but both times i've been there I have been amazed at how long i spent there. Don't get me wrong, i love to linger over a meal and chat to friends but i think 4 and a half hours is my all time record in a restaurant. We had to wait almost an hour for our table by which stage we were all ready to drop with the hunger. I've love to say it was just us but at one point i realised no tables upstairs had any food on them. What's going on??? I can't imagine that the kitchen is having problems - the food coming out is great - but i think maybe that staff haven't been trained properly. Please please please sort this out if you're reading these reviews. I want to come back but i'm wondering if i should bring a picnic to keep me going between courses! PS. the desserts are divine..............maybe i should go back just for the lemon tart!
Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
I've eaten here twice and have loved it. Great buzz about the place and i have to say the staff have been very flexible with making bookings & changing numbers etc. Will definitely eat here again!
McCabes Wines, The Gables, 1 Torquay Road, Dublin 18 , Foxrock, Dublin
I'm not a regular at the Gables but have been a few times. I ate there last weekend but was a bit disappointed & now understand why it wasn't very busy. Although the food is lovely, the service really isn't great at all and it took me about 10 minutes to catch the attention of a waitress. They seemed flat out although the restaurant was not that busy. They were pretty good at avoiding eye contact! It's a pity as I think it really could be a great place.
Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin
I hadn't eaten here in at least 18 months so was looking forward to it. However, I was pretty disappointed when I went last Sunday evening. I think the Sunday menu is less extensive than the regular one so the choice was not that great. I ordered crab claws to start which at 11.95 is not that cheap. Unfortunately the crab claws were lacking in taste and were quite rubbery, as if they were frozen which I was surprised at as I thought they prided themselves on fresh seafood. My main course which was rainbow trout was good on the portion size but was overcooked. Overall an overpriced disappointing experience.
Cafe Mimo (Dundrum)
House of Fraiser, Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin
I had brunch here at the weekend and thought it was good value for money and the staff were very nice.
43 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin
I've been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. Always great value for money and I’ve converted several non-Indian food lovers by bringing them here.

Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I ate here last weekend with some friends. We all thought the food & service was great. It was full and there was a great buzz so obviously the other reviews here aren't putting people off! The only bad thing I can say is that it is a little overpriced for what it is but I’ll definitely go back again.
