This restaurant is excelent value and the service is quite good. The portions are very large, twice what you would expect, and the salad dressing is delicious. It's a great place for a speedy hot lunch, especially on a rainy day when comforting food is called for.

I was quite happy with my meal here. THe portions were very large, the baked potatoes were wonderful, and I noticed that they give you plenty of butter pats to go with them, which other restaurants would do well to note. The service was very quick and helpful, and while it was quite loud due to a childrens' birthday party, the atmosphere was quite good. Great value for money overall.

Da Tang Noodle House
2 Middle Street Mews, Galway City, Galway

I couldn't fault one thing about the food here. The stir fried chicken in Hoi Sin BBQ was absolutely delicious, it was served hot and managed to remain hot throughout the course of the meal, the vegetables and noodles were cooked to perfection. My companions, who opted for soup noodles, were also very satisfied (if a little jealous when they caught the aroma of my dish being carried past them). The menu is very extensive for a small restaurant. The restaurant is cosy and informal, and feels like heaven when you look out the window and see a dark rainy night outside!

Al Muretto - Re located
Forster Court, Galway City, Galway

This is a nice restaurant but the service really tends to be below par when in comes to groups. I'd been here once before two years ago when the service was the worst I'd ever come across, and while it has improved, the staff still have a long way to go. One half of the table had a drinks order taken, the other half had to ask for drinks and were waiting half an hour. We had a 9pm sitting, and although some of the group were delayed by half an hour, it wasn't until 10.30 that we got anything to eat. The food was lovely but an hour and a half is far too long to wait for a bowl of pasta. There is also a compulsory service charge for groups, which is infuriating considering the lack of service. I'd have no problem tipping well if it was deserved, but the service charge just feels like extortion.

Had a beautiful meal here with my boyfriend and his parents recently. The food was lovely, the staff very pleasant, and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable.

Riordans Food House
7 Quay Street, Galway City, Galway

Not a bad spot for a quick lunch- friendly service and large portions. It's not exactly haute cuisine but they do simple dishes really well. The lunchtime offers are hard to beat and their homemade chunky soup is delicious.

Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Cork)
4/5 South Main Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

Highly recommended. My cousin and I went in on Saturday evening without a reservation and were delighted to be seated quickly. The service was equally impressive - the waitresses couldn't do enough for us, they were cheerful and friendly and the food was served with amazing speed. The food was delicious, the portions large. We treated ourselves to a cocktail also, but found ourselves unequal to dessert, as tempting as they are. We were surprised at how reasonable the bill was also. Captain America's is definitely worth the visit.

The Olive Tree
Courtyard Marriott, Headford Point, Galway City, Galway

I came here with friends recently for a quick bite for lunch. The waitress was extremely pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. Myself and a friend decided to share the club sandwich and chips and she had them served individually which was much appreciated- other restaurants have in the past just brought out an extra set of cutlery. Nice atmosphere, lovely food, top class service.

Java's - Galway
Upperr Abbygate Street, Galway City, Galway

Java's serve lovely food and have a nice artisan feel to the atmosphere, but the service can be poor at times when it's busy. The coffee is fine, but don't go for normal tea, try one of their herbal infusions instead. The cheese plate is fantastic.

The Living Room
Bridge Street, Galway City, Galway

This is a weekend favourite of mine. Nothing beats their Breakfast Smoothie (especially if they make it thick) and porridge on a Sunday morning. They also do lovely French Toast, and great Foccaccia sandwiches. The Aussie Wedges are very good too, although more on the greasy side.

Meadow Court Hotel
Clostoken, Loughrea, Galway

I stopped in here early on Friday evening. The restaurant was fairly quiet, but the waitresses were very friendly and chatty, and made up for the quiet atmosphere. I had the best deep fried brie I have ever had - a huge portion that was surprisingly not heavy and the fine breadcrumb batter was perfect. The monkfish was a little tough on the underside but delicious. I was surprised that it was not served with vegetables. For dessert I chose the chef's selection, which was beautifully presented and very tasty, only the cheesecake was a let down as it was a bit rubbery and seemed like a shop bought cheesecake. Overall I had a pleasant meal, although the restaurant wouldn't be top of my list.

Cookes Restaurant & Wine Bar
28 Upr Abbeygate Street, Galway City, Galway

I met friends here for a bite to eat after work. The early bird menu is excellent value and there's a decent choice on offer. The staff were extremely attentive, polite and engaging. The portions were of a good size and the food itself was well balanced and tasty. I would recommend going in early as it gets quite busy later in the evening.

Donnelly's of Barna
Barna, Barna, Galway

I had an early dinner here midweek with friends, the staff were lovely and the food was divine. The goat's cheese was heavenly- done to perfection! My friends were equally impressed. It's definitely a place to visit.

Yamamori Noodles
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I found this restaurant thoroughly excellent. Myself and two friends went in for lunch on a Saturday. They had noodle dishes while I opted for the chicken teriyaki. The portions were very large and quite delicious. The staff were excellent with smiles all round, and I couldn't believe it when we got the bill- it was extremely good value for money. I would definitely eat there again.

Cactus Jacks Galway
Courthouse Lane, Galway City, Galway

Such a great restaurant. The food is delicious and the portions are huge, they're really quite good value. It's always busy and advisable to book a table. They have the best blue cheese dip in Galway and great fajitas.

L'Osteria Da Roberta
157 Upper Salthill, Salthill, Galway

Lovely restaurant, very comfortable atmosphere, great food. Myself and five friends arrived without a reservation but were immediately greeted by a waiter and looked after. Service was a little slow at times but the food was well worth it. Sauces can be a little heavy and creamy but the flavours are balanced and blended very well. Quite a good menu, some dishes are a little steep. Starters can be quite generous in size and the desserts are lovely also. Very nice staff.
