Restaurant Reviews from it'sme
Planet Spice Indian Restaurant &Takeaway;
8 Mary St Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
Reviewed 08th June 2010 ( visited 24th April 2010 )Indian is my favourite food and I have to say that Planet spice is one of the best restaurants that I have visited. My partner and I visit here at least once every second month. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is quite good and the price is very reasonable because the food is absolutely delicious. I would recommend Planet Spice to anyone especially the prawn chilli masala.
Sol Bistro restaurant
Low Street, Thomastown, Kilkenny
Reviewed 25th November 2011 ( visited 15th July 2011 )I went here with my mother and two sisters. To be honest my expectations were low however I was very surprised. We all had the main and dessert. I had the hake with chorizo cream sauce it was very tasty and for dessert I had a chocolate fondant which was cooked to perfection, it was slightly bitter but the sweetness of the ice cream complimented it brilliantly. The rest of my family really enjoyed their meals also; there was no complaints which is quiet unusual for us. The atmosphere was nice for such an early sitting and the restaurant was nearly full with almost all females. The serves was good also we had a girl serving us and we found her very friendly with a good sense of humour. It has been a while now since that dinner and I am looking forward to going there again.
5 Henrietta Street, Waterford City, Waterford
The decor is modern and really american, different for Waterford. I really didn't know what to expect it was a very casual diner with very current/student ish staff. The menu was looked good... I got Tiger Prawn Tempura for starter and I have to say that it was like normal battered regular prawns, I got the napkin and padded the prawn, the napkin was soaked in grease "not good". Tempura is a very light and crisy batter, this was not and the lettuce on the side salad was turning brown and the edges. For the main I got the New York Chicken burger, it was a chicken breast fried with a rasher which was ust ok...... the coleslaw was horrible most definately not homemade and real turn off. Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it.
La Palma Ristorante Italiano
Parnell st, Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
My partner and I visited here because we purchased a deal voucher online €70 worth of food for €35 great value. We decided to go for the early bird with a bottle of wine. We got the fishcake starter and the spiced duck with pear both of which were very tasty, duck was a small portion but for the price I wouldn't complain. For the mains we got the roast chicken dish and the chicken pasta dish both were yummy, however I presumed for an Italian it would be homemade pasta but no just bought penne. For dessert we both got the chocolate option it was like a mousse but heavier cant remember the name but it was very nice. We had white wine with the meal, again, I can't remember the name but it was about €25 and it was light and refreshing, it went very well with the meal. The atmosphere and decor was pleasant and the service was very friendly. My only real criticism is that it wasn't very Italian, I would go again tho.....
Saagar Indian Restaurant (Mullingar)
2 Dublin Bridge, Mullingar, Westmeath
Four of us went here and used 2 groupon vouchers. We were to first in the restaurant and because of this it lacked atmosphere, it was cold at first but soon heated up. The poppadoms and dip were tasty however we didn't even finish them because the starters had arrived. My chicken tikka was extremely tender and tasty, one of my friends had the onion bhaji which was way too big and there was two on the plate. I tasted one but it was very greasy on the outside but the flavour on the inside was ok. The mains were just ok, two peopel at our table are not fond of hot/spicy food so one got the Korma which was sooo bland and disappointing, the other got the Tikka Masala which was ok to taste but it had a strong hint of mint in it which we found odd. Two of us got Chilli Masala which was nice. The rice was very dry and look like it had been reheated a few times however the naan was very nice. The service was just ok everything was a bit rushed. Overall it was a disappointing experience and we would not recommend it as there are a lot better Indian restaurants out there.
Bombay Palace Indian Restaurant
14/15 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
I went here with my partner as we love Indian food; we had read the reviews on menupages which were quiet good however on another website the reviews were pretty bad so we weren’t expecting much. Firstly they were a bit mean with the poppadum’s as we only had a half one each but the dips were tasty. We both ordered the Chicken Chilli Masala which was hot liked stated but it was also very tasty one of the nicest we have had with a long time. With the mains we had pilau rice that was ok it looked as if it had been reheated a few times; it was very dry but ok. We also shared a garlic, onion and coriander naan which wasn’t on the menu, they were more than willing to provide us with it and again I have to say it was the best naan we ever had it was stuffed with the 3 toppings which really brought out the flavour. The price was very reasonable and the service was good. On our next visit to Cork we will definitely come here again.
36 The Quay Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
We were very disappointed with this restaurant because after we read the reviews we thought is was going to be fab. This restaurant is TINY, there is no atmosphere, no comfort and you cannot have a conversation without someone else over hearing. The poppadoms and dip were very tasty, we both ordered only mains with rice and naan and this was very tasty also. My plate was not clean and the cutlery was the same. The restaurant wasn't very clean looking either and to be honest the service could most definately improve. All in all the food was good but not much else, we wouldn't go again.
Stars of India
Slievenamon Road, Thurles, Tipperary
My partner and I decide to eat here as the comments on Menupages were good. We went in at about 5 and we were the only people there, not surprising. The decor was very nice and the music was like modern Indian which was pleasant. We were given both the early bird menu (great value) and the regular menu. As we weren't overly hungry we decided to just have the main. The poppadum’s (3) and dips that were provided were very tasty and when we finished we were offered more which was nice. I ordered the Chicken Achar as I had never had it before it was ok a slight bit bitter for me. The rice and naan (garlic & coriander) was very good. When the mains came the waiter said we were more than welcome to more rice which again was nice. When we finished we got heated wipes for our hands as you do with some Indian restaurants, I find this a nice touch. The waiter was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I would visit here again however I would get a dish that I was familiar with for comparison reasons.
The Holy Cross Inn
Cork Road, Butlerstown, Waterford City, Waterford
I had Sunday dinner here with my boyfriend and his parents.I had the chicken dish with peppercorn sauce I asked for extra and got loads which was great, with that I had cabbage and carrots with garlic creamed potatoes, all of which were very yummy. It was your typically sunday lunch but very very tasty and great value. In total we got 3 full dinners and a childs size portion and it all came to less than €40 which was great value for such a tasty dinner. We got there early which was a blessing in disguise because there was a queue outside the door when we were leaving. A sure sign of a good place eat.

Bollywood Spices (Naas)
1-A Naas Town Centre, Naas, Naas, Kildare
My partner and I went to Naas for a break away and as we are lovers of Indian and from reading the reviews we decided to go to Bollywood. The restaurant was very quiet as it was early in the night. We loved the openness and decor of the room. The food was presented well and it tasted delicious, the quantities of the mains where the perfect size as we skipped starters. Compared to some other Indian restaurants we found that their was a good contrast between the different dishes at this restaurant. We will defintely revisit.
Shimla Indian Restaurant
6 Dean Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
Got the early bird which was great value, the food was good we have had better indian though, however for that price of €12.50 for two course we couldn't complain. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was not bad but the meal was very rushed we had barely finished our poppadoms when our starters arrived and when we had just finshed them and the mains arrived, I would have understood if the restaurant was busy but we were the only people in the place at the time. At the end of the meal we got hot towels which was a nice touch.
Royal Spice Indian Restaurant Kilkenny
2 water gate, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
As myself and my partner love Indian food and from viewing the reviews on menupages we couldn't wait to try out this restaurant. The decor was lovely, the service was very friendly however, I have to say I was disappointed with the food both my partner and I found that our dishes had a grainy texture and it tasted as if the spices weren't cooked thoroughly. We will visit this restaurant again only because of the other reviews on menupages, lets hope the food is more satisfying.
Planet Spice Indian Restaurant
16 Merchants Quay, Waterford City, Waterford
I have been to this restaurant on a few occasions since it opened and the food is simply fabulous. Like its sister restaurant in Clonmel they serve very tasty indian food with great service. I have tried a few dishes and so has my partner and we were always overwhelm with both how tasty the dishes are and the friendliness of the service. It is one of those restaurants thats a must visit if you like indian and even if you don't.
The Manor Bar and Grill
Cork Road, Waterford City, Waterford
We went to Fitzpatricks for the early bird and it was very enjoyable. It was €20 for a 3 course meal which was great value. The portions were very generous I had the fishcakes and seafood pie and both were delicious. The waiters were friendly and welcoming which added to the evening. On a whole Fitzpatricks is great value for your money and the food wont disappoint.

I went to Jade Palace with 3 others, the food was very enjoyable. Starters were a bit on the big size but main course was very nice chicken with chilli and garlic. We got the early bird which was very reasonable. However, I have to say the service was terrible, we only got our menu's and they asked were we ready to order, came back a less than a minute later and asked again, there was no real break between starter and main it was just so rushed. I was the last to finish the meal well if I could say finished because I was still eating the last mouthful of my dish when the table was cleared, even though I was going to taste some of my friends dish because she hadn't finished but I never got the chance. The waitress was very ignorant didn't bother to say excuse me when she leaned over me to get the plate and barely missed spoiling my top with the sauce on the plate only for a move back so quickly. I'd like to say again though that the food was very nice but I never eat there again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either except for take-away.
