You just won't find better Italian food in Dublin. In fact, you'll be hard pushed to find better in Italy! Il Primo is small and some tables are definitely better than others, but once the dishes are in front of you you'll forget all about your surroundings. The restaurant's risotto is famed - and with good reason: regular patrons often order a started-sized portion to begin, followed by another variety for their main... I recommend you do the same.

The Hungry Monk
Church Road, Greystones, Greystones, Wicklow

We were a party of eight and our table wasn't ready for some time after our arrival (despite a booking). The service was also a little haphazard at times - but the staff are certainly very friendly. Starter of calamari was OK, but the seafood risotto main was really excellent. The place was packed too - which makes for a good atmosphere. Although I'd be happy to eat here again, overall I'm not sure I'd be rushing back either.

I Monelli restaurant
1-2 Portobello Road , Portobello, Dublin

I Monelli had only just swapped over to its current Portobello location (from Rathgar) when I popped in. Still, it's fantastic to see that it's maintained its high standards amid the move. Food really is exceptionally good and there are great value glasses of house wine for €6. The new spot is perfect too and there's going to be a super buzz about the place in the run-up to Christmas. Can't wait to return!
