Howards Way (Churchtown) restaurant
11 Braemor Road, South Dublin, Churchtown, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 14
Reviewed 20th January 2010 ( visited 19th January 2010 )Ate here last night for a girly dinner. The service is brilliant. We got a lovely warm welcome and the manager and waiter were extremely friendly. Food was fab! They do an early bird special all week so you get a main and dessert with tea/coffee or a starter and main with tea/coffee for €23. I had the chicken mediteranian salad (amazing) folled by stuffed field mushrooms with fries (also amazing). The girls sampled the soup, steak and chicken and mash. The food is really really good. It's quite expensive I think but maybe thats just me!! The deal we got was good but a main on its own is around €16/17. I will definitely be back! Wine was good too :-)

Reviewed 22nd September 2010 ( visited 20th August 2010 )I ate here with my family on a Friday night. My overall experience was OK! Food was great, really really nice but it was so hot and stuffy in place. I know it was a Friday evening (approx 6pm) so it’s bound to be busy but there were no windows or air con, we couldn’t wait to leave for fresh air which was a shame. Table service was great, all the lounge staff were really helpful. I had the burger with egg and bacon with chips and a side of pepper sauce. It was really delicious. My partents both had burgers also and my brother had the streak which he loved. Food is a little pricy for pub grub, I think the burgers were around €16 each (I didn’t pay!) which is a bit much. To round it up it worth popping in for some food if you’re in the area and it’s payday!!

I ate here last night with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it. The service was really excellent and the food was delicious. The portions are absolutely HUGE! I'd definitely recommend this place and we will definitely return. Top marks to the staff and the chef.

I visited here with my boyfriend in August and then brought some female friends here in September as I was so impressed with the food. The restaurant is set out beautifully with a teppanyaki chef cooking showing off some great skills. Very entertaining to watch! The service is fantastic, they are so friendly and attentive. You can bring your own wine for only €5 corkage which is great. They leave it in a fridge to chill for you until you are ready for it (if it's white of course). Overall reasonably priced, great staff, beautiful food and well worth a visit! I'm actually booked in again for Friday week! Cant wait!

Visited here with a large group for a family meal out. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great, interior was great - definitely a place I will go back to soon. We ordered prawn crackers to nibble on while we decided on starters and mains. They were really nice and came with three different dips. I ordered the spring rolls to start, I got five of them beautifully presented with a dip. Its definitely something you could share - I only managed three! For mains I had the Chicked PHAD KRAPROW. Will definitely get it again! My boyfriend ordered the slightly more expensive Beef BO dish - the meat was out of this world - probably the best piece of steak I have ever eaten! Well worth a visit!!
Eden Bar & Lounge
Grange Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin
I ate here with my family and my boyfriend on a Monday night. My overall experience was good! Even for a Monday night the place was buzzing. Food was great, really really nice. And the portions were HUGE! Myself and my boyfriend had the Chinese chicken noodles which came with chips. I could barely eat half beaciuse there was so much so they kindly put the rest in a foil box for me to take home (made a great lunch in work the next day!). My mum and dad had the burgers, again they looked great and came with chips and salad. And my brother had the chilli con carne. That came with tortillas, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, rice and chips! Wasd very impressive. Not one person at the table could finish their portion so it’s a great place to go if your hungry or fancy sharing! It’s a lovely pub inside with a great smoking area and loads of flat screens, there’s even some in the seated smoking area. Def worth a try!
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin
Went here for a friends birthday. About 10 of us went and we got to sit around the cooking area. Was great fun being able to watch them cook everything up - a little unsociable though and we ended up sitting in straight lines so you literally just get to talk to who's beside you. If going in a small group id recommend just asking for a table! The food was really really nice. I had the chicken tippenyaki, would definitely get it again. The sauces that come with it are devine! Most people went for the steak or chicken tippenyaki. Nobody had any complaints! Would def go back again if I was invited but its not necessarily somewhere I'd pop into with say just my boyfriend. Great for a birthday or special occasion though! A must try once anyway!
Gong Chinese Restaurant
8 Lower Kilmacud Road, South Dublin, Stillorgan, Dublin
I was really really disappointed with the food here. I had the vegetable chow mein (which I always love from other places). It was really horrible, thje noodles were really fine and so mushy, they literally turned to slop the second you put them in your mouth. the sauce didnt taste like anything either. It was just a plate of tasteless mush! The vegetables were fine but the sauce and noodles ruined the whole dish. It was like a dish you had made at home yourself and then over re-heated it. Definitely will not be back!

Had lunch here with my boyfriend. We both had a toastie and sharded a basket of chips. The toasties were great value, €4.50 for toastie with as many toppings as you like and a lovely side salad of coleslaw, tomatoe, lettuce and onion. I had ham, chicken, stuffing, tomatoe, cheese and onion in mine - it was grade A! Chips were a little undercooked but lovely and chunky. Proper homemade chips! The atmosphere is pretty awful in there though, we literally ate and left. It's very small and we felt like we had to whisper, Id say its a 'locals' pub. There was an old movie on in the corner which is all ou could hear. Music would be better. I would definitely pop in to eat if I were around there for a lunch again as the food and service was very good!
Schooners @ McKevitts Village Hotel
Market Square, Carlingford, Carlingford, Louth
Had a Saturday night Dinner here while on a weekend away in Carlingford. I had the Mc Kevitts chicken with salad and chips and my boyfriend had the sirolin steak and chips with garlic bhutter and pepper sauce. The chicken was really tasty, it was in a cherry tomato and basil sauce, topped with fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese. That came with a really simple, but lovely salad and delicious homemade chunky chips. The steak was boyfirend had was propably the best steak I have ever tyasted. It melted in my mouth. The garlic butter on the side as well as the pepper sauce really made it. Fantastic steak! We both shared a bottle of wine, wine was very good indeed. I was a bit put off by the prices listed outside but you really do get what you pay for, well worth a visit. Salad and chips are really big so a strater is 100% not necessary!

Ate here for Dine in Dublin week with a group of friends. As there were 8 of us we were given one of the little separet private rooms which was cool! A little stuffy but nice to have own space. I had the prawns to start, singapore noodles for mains and ice cream for dessert. And a bottle of wine of course! Prawns were really tasty, would definitely recommend them. The singapore noodles were a little disappointing, the praws that came with it were HUGE, some people like really big prawns but not me. I was chopping them up as hate looking at them and found most of them still had the vein thsat runs down the back. pretty gross! Left most of them on the plate! The rest of the dish was ok though. The noodles were really fine, I like the bigger ones. The ice cream was amazing, id say it was definitely home made. The chocolate had chips in it and the strawberry had real fruit in it! The deal was good as it was Dine in Dublin week but otherwise Id say what I would would have been very expensive. Main dishes range from €18 plus...
Ballinteer Avenue, Dublin 16, Ballinteer, Dublin
very good value for money, food is lovely and staff are pleasant, always a nice meal. i usually go for the carvary (its very very good) but opted for the curry with half rice/half chips last time, was nice. definitely a great pub for carvary if your around at lunchtime!!!
The Porterhouse (Central)

quite possibly the worst pub food i've had, and iv'e had a lot!!! went here yesterday for drink and food and was so disappointed. my boyfriend got the steak sandwich which was horrible. steak just came in a lump on top of bread. it was beyond tough and fatty. chewing it was disguisting. really horrible. i got the chicken burger, chicken was nicebut the salad and bun were horrible, really lacked flovour. chips were just greasy air. horrible! will never eat here again !!!

I ate here last Thursday with four female friends. They offer a special deal of starter, main and dessert for €14.95 so we all went for that. There is a really good choice of starters and mains on the offer menu. Dessert is Banana fritter and ice cream, no choice. I had chicken satay skewers to start followed by prawn hot garlic with fried rice. The food was really really good and plentiful. Another couple of people could easily have had a full meal with what was left over. Wine was good too :-) Will def go again, too cheap not too! Really nice inside too! I only gave a 3 for atmosphere but that's because it was empty due to all the snow!!
Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dundrum, Dublin
food is really good for a bar. i have eaten here a few times. i had the curry the last time, it is def worth getting if you are a curry fan. it's really good!! their fajitas, fish and chips and pasta dish is good too. the menu is not massive but has a good selection. only complaint is that its not that cheap for pub food. if your hungry and around the are id def pop in! great bar for drinking in too!
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went here for a girls Christmas dinner. Food was really really nice. We shared the Oriental Chicken Wings, Mexican Guacamole and the olives between 5 of us. It was all really good. Only thing I would say is you literally get about four olives which is a bit scabby but they were amaxing olives!! We all had pizzas for the mail course. I would definitely recommend their pizzas! The waiting staff were great, our water glasses were never empty and they were very prompt in getting us numerous bottles of wine! A very enjoyable evening!!!
The Hairy Lemon Traditional Pub & Restaurant
Stephen Street Lower, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
this is a really quirky little pub. its really cosy! great for a beer and a bite to eat. they have a really large varied menu which is great and portions are good sizes! price is good too! id recommend the club sambo and chips, mmm!!!
The Border Grill Restaurant @ Break for the Border
2 Johnsons Place, Lower Stephen Street, City Centre South, Dublin
food and service here is great! the staff are really helpful and friendly and the food is so so good. they have a really good range of stuff and their chicken burgers and steak subs are amazing! chips are really good too as are their platters. i love the way you can get pitchers here too for €12, such a bargain. defo worth popping in for a bite to eat. it's also great for sport as there as a large number of tvs so no matter where you sit you get a good view of a screen.
Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar
Sandyford Village, Sandyford, Sandyford, Dublin
I ate here on Saturday with my boyfriend and my folks. We all shared the plattter. It was very nice. you get wedges, chichken nuggets and goujans, chicken wings, onion rings, sausages. the wings were great, bit fatty but everything else was lovely. we had to move seats to be nearer a door as it was so warm and the sky light windows didnt open, thats my only complaint. this place doo a great carvery too!!
Excelsior Oriental Restaurant (Rathfarnham)
106 Nutgrove Avenue, South Dublin, Rathfarnham, Dublin
absolutely love this place, still, never get bored of it!! without doubt one of the best chinese places around.everything is spot on, good value, food tastes amazing, place is really clean and the staff are lovely. you never have to wait too long for your oder, whether you eat there, get take away or have it delivered. i nearly always have the veggie spring roll and blank bean dish but decided to opt for a three in one and chicken balls this time. both were amazing. i find a lot of places do really greasey chicken balls but i love them here. not greasy and you get lots of chicken!! a must visit!!
The Step Inn Lounge Restaurant
Enniskerry Road, Stepaside Village, Stepaside, Stepaside, Dublin
Went here with my boyfriend a couple a weeks ago for some Sunday grub and we were both really disappointed. We waited nearly an hour for our food, with people who arrived way after us being served. We guess they forgot our order. When it did arrive the chips were cold and the salad wasnt great. I didnt like the way they threw the salad in with the bowl of chips. We both had the chicken dish with the mushroom sauce. The chicken and sauce was lovely but everything else was not great. Its not like a pub at all, you have to sit in a certain area in the corner of the pub and all the tables were on top of each other. it wasnt exacly cosy, was more like a cafe. Tryin to get the waitresses to get you a drink was also virtually impossible. Food aint cheap either. Def wont be going back!!
The Harbour Master Restaurant & Bar
Custom House Dock, I.F.S.C Dublin 1, IFSC, Dublin
Had food and drinks here with three friends en route to a concert in the O2. I wanted to try the pasta but knew I wouldnt eat a full portion so I asked for a half portion (I have done this many times) but I was told no. Bit annoying but thats obv their policy. Ended up getting the club sambo which was lovely. My friends had the wings, burger and steak sambo, they were all impressed! Food wasnt cheap for pub grub, neither were the drinks actually but it wouldnt put me off going away before a gig in the O2 as the location was handy! The toilets had the worst smell EVER which hit you long before you went in, they SERIOUSLY need to do something about that!!!
The Gingerman Waterford
6 Arundel la Waterford Co. Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
I eat lunch here every time I go to Waterford. It's location is perfect - right in the center. Perfect for lunch after some shopping. They do THE best club sambo, it's to die for. The portions are huge as well and very reasonably priced. All their food is good, i have yet to be disappointed in there!
Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
I was really disappointed with the food here and I'm usually very easily pleased!! The food didn't taste great, there was no real flavour off it and it is so over priced for what you are getting. They forgot my main dish and rice for a friend, we had to ask for it sometime after the other food was brought out. The jumbo prawns are DISGUISTING!! They are around the size of an apple, really chewy and just horrible to look at. Never seen anything like it. The wine is also really overpriced. Overall a bad experience unfortunately :-(
The Rockfield Lounge
Wyckham Way, Dundrum, Dublin
popped in on Friday for a few drinks and a bite to eat with a few female friends.Three of us had the chicken fajitas with chips. the chicken is so amazing, really tender and so tasty. tastes like its BBQ'd. The wraps were delicious. its great the fajitas come with chips too, most places dont do that. The guacamolo, sour cream and salsa and are great for dipping the chips into! They give you loads of dips. And more if you ask for it!! Someone else had the ceaser salad (I have had it before - its really good, very filling and the chicken is the same chicken you get with the fajitas). One other person had the half roast chicken with ham, potatos and veg with gravey. Her portion was HUGE!! It was really quiet for a riday night but perfect for chats, amazing food and drinks!!
