I have very high expectations of Japanese restaurants as they are known for perfecting everything. Kokoro was a massive disappointment. I ordered a beef marinated in a sauce with sesame seeds. The meat and rice had been sitting in a stainless steel hot bath for hours. When I ate it, It tasted faintly of fish from splashes of other meals in the neighbouring containers. The cuts of the meat were the lowest possible quality, not lightly marbled but inordinate quantities of fat that the meat was difficult to chew. The complimentary miso soup was nothing special, but it was free after all. Overall this place is as low quality as an all-you-can-eat Chinese take away open at 4am on a Saturday night to feed the drunks on their way home. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
