The four of us had lunch at Peploe’s last Sunday and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Dublin. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with the long mural, and the service is top notch. Our various dishes included a sublime crab tortellini, perfectly cooked sirloin rump, and a huge, and very tasty, portion of monkfish. Desserts were equally excellent as was the wine list. For a top restaurant like this it's very good value at 29.50 for a three course menu. We’ll be back!!Peploes Wine Bistro restaurant

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
Our first visit to Fire on Sunday evening and definitely not our last. Welcomed warmly by the front of house and brought to the bar area for pre-meal drinks. Later went upstairs to the main restaurant which was huge and beautifully decorated. We opted for the pre-theatre menu which was good value at 29.95. We both had the tiger prawns (5 euro supplement) to star which were amazing, never had such a delicious starter in any Dublin restaurant. We needed more bread to mop up all the sauce after! We also both had the 8oz sirloin steaks as the main course which were cooked to perfection. Desserts were maybe less spectacular but still good. We opted for two glasses of wine to accompany the meal, both excellent but a little pricey. Service was excellent throughout.

The Porterhouse (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow
Had dinner at the Porterhouse last Tuesday night. Service was very friendly and quite promtpt. We started with two pints of the Porterhouse craft beers from their huge list of beers. We then went for 2 delicious mains of the Porterhouse Burger and the House Special Burger of Bacon,Mince Meat, and Onion Rings. The portions were enormous and were accompanied by chips on the side. The total bill came to just 34 euro which was very good value given the quality of the food - we'll be back!

The Blackboard Bistro
The Basement, 4 Clare Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Decided to try the Blackboard Bistro for lunch, nice petite bistro, very quiet on the day I went. Chose the chicken hot pot which was quite tasty but I wished there had been more veg! Anyway service was good and I might try the early bird menu there next time.

Forty Foot Bar & Grill
The Pavilion Centre , Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
We had the valentine's day special offer, came down at lunchtime and The Forty Foot was already packed. Quiet gastro-bar with no kids (much appreciated!) My chicken was perfectly cooked and nicely accompanied with piri-piri sauce. My wife's salmon was also very tasty. Our dessert (apple crumble with custard) were also very filling and just perfect. The meal was amazing value at 30 euro for a 2 course with a bottle of good wine (Wolf Blass) included. The beers also great value at 2.50-2.75 euro. Only downside was service was quite slow, but I will definitely back to TFF!!
